I have been in the same situ Mac to PC and I run both, but I use PC only for Ninjatrader and some web activities. I comment (!) as a technical novice, not an expert. All this is course opens a minefield of opinions and some advocate no anti-virus for trading PC's....that is, a DEDICATED trading PC.
In regards to Ninjatrader I started with Kaspersky, but it was giving me grief after a few years. A friend in LA who is a security specialist and knows Ninjatrader, advised Norton basic version, but witout the "dark web monitoring" which they offer. I found it to be less intrusive, once I figured out that I need to update Norton almost daily (easy to do), Norton's high CPU/RAM use calmed right down.
I have heard very good things about "Webroot" and one of the reputable PC build companies in Australia offer it as a free trial to the purchaser of a custom built PC (the only anti-virus they offer).
The following user says Thank You to sienna for this post:
I'm buying a new trading PC and reconsidering antivirus software for using this new PC, with these programs: NT8, MT4, Google: Only for news, trading service based sites, reputable vendors, some online banking.
2 Questions, especially in regards to NT8 (the last version not the most current new version):
1 Does anyone have experience using webroot dot com (US based) internet security + anti virus?
2 Any preferred internet security + anti virus which will not slow down NT8 and offers good online protection?
