Completely agree.

The problem is that YouTube is optimized by its users for clicks. And the people who are attracted to that are the kind of advertising people who don't know they are getting fed garbage.

Not to mention youtube video are pretty useless unless it's like a Mark Douglas type.

Trading is pretty simple. Its is extremely hard though.

People want it to be easy. YouTubers know this and feed them content they want. Not what they actually need.

So it's not really just YouTube. Fault also lays at the feet of the users who go looking for an easy way to trade. Or worse... A WAY TO FORECAST THE MARKET!

yes, on top of that I noticed that some youtubers that looked "serious" and respectable to me, now they include meme stuff to adopt the ticktock style. This is insane...and it's even affecting me, since I got bombarded with youtube shorts I end up perceiving a 10m candle as a 2 hours candle. My perception of time is being affected.

Seriously?

Your perception of time is affected by a YouTube short?

On the short or now all charts?

I follow this guy here: [yt]https://www.youtube.com/@thealgotrader212[/yt]
He's the only trader I've found that kills it trading the NQ
and he doesn't sell courses.

I checked him out. He seems to use lots of indicators but doesnt say they are for sale. I suspect he is selling custom indicators. Right? Or is he generously providing them free for other traders.

From having watched the Algotrader live for months now, he seems to showcase a variety of tools (indicators), all designed for different purposes. But I know for a fact he doesn't sell anything or do any custom coding for anyone (he's mentioned it before on his lives). His focus seems more on algorithmic trading using AI. But the strategies he features seem robust for what he trades. He's an interesting dude, that's for sure!

Here's what I mean by robust strategies....(this is from yesterday):

Thanks. Seems like a bright guy that has developed some indicators. Do you know what the indicators are?

I have no clue how one would classify them without really knowing what's under the hood. Some appear to behave like stochastics, but on others I can't really tell.

You mentioned that he "doesn't sell anything", but I turn your attention to the following that accompanies his YT video:

"Get the edge you need to succeed in today's markets with our powerful AI-powered trading strategies. Our algorithms go beyond the limitations of traditional indicators, identifying trends and predicting entry and exit points that would otherwise go undetected. Don't be left in the dust – join the ranks of top traders with our advanced technology."

Does he give these algos away for free!

Ah yeah, he did mentioned that on his last live that beginning this year he was planning to stream the six strategies aimed at swing traders. These are on the Daily time frame. Totally new from last year. He said he put them out there to get feedback on what people thought of the technology. I'm not sure how long he plans to stream it free, but my guess is not too long as he did mention it targets an audience different than what he normally streams which is the NQ. There is a Patreon account setup for that, but my interest is watching him trade the NQ and not so much the longer time frames.

No, he does not give them away for free.

With just a little effort, I went from this YouTube video to his web site, where he offers subscriptions for a monthly payment. I didn't bother looking to see if there is any other paid service or product bring sold. You really could tell from the YouTube that he's going to be selling something. Which he is.

Now, this doesn't mean that he's not any good. I have no idea, not having sampled his wares. But it's important not to accept things at face value. It is also not necessarily a sign that something is not legitimate just because it comes at a cost. But people don't give away valuable things that take them some effort to present to other people, as in a well-produced YouTube channel, just because it's their hobby. Nor should anyone expect them to, of course, but it's always a case of "let the buyer beware" -- and even more so if the prospective buyer doesn't know that they are in fact a potential buyer who is being pitched to. A sales prospect.

Anyone who is interested in a vendor (to use the right term for this guy) is free to try out what is being offered, and it may even work out. Just be aware that you are on the receiving end of a sales effort, and that if they didn't think it would pay off for them in more sales, they wouldn't be doing it.

So just be careful.

Bob.
