Sharky got me thinking about linear regression....the basis of the Sharkfin paintbar study. It seems that the 21 linear regression can be used as a directional filter with the sharkfin on 2 for pullbacks (re-entries)

On this chart I've got the linear regression in panel one as a line and panel two as a hash. Yes I know it's redundant but I need a little extra reminder to stay on the right side of the market. Panel 1 has the Sharkfin paintbar study and panel 3 has the corresponding dot/line.

Same approach.....different indicators.

Jeff

Jeff,

Which "line regression" indy do you have as a line in Panel 1, and as hash in Panel 2 ?

pretty intriguing as my trix indicator only has 2 stages either up or down but it shows divergences.

The Linear Regression used in panel 1 and 2 is the Lin_Reg_color_Paint_v01.....I believe that this indicator is in one of the Sharky packages.

Hey Skid,

Taking quick profits and reducing risk ASAP is paramount. Right nowI'm debating moving the stop to breakeven +1 after the first target is hit or.......moving it to say -8. In the latter scenario the first target would be +8 and the stop to -8 would result in a breakeven trade at worst (provided the first target is hit) and still give the trade room to play out and reach your second objective. The reason I suggest such an approach is that often a trade is entered upon the break of support of resistance.....when support or resistance is broken more often than not that area will be re-tested. Well...... if you entered on the break of support or resistance...reached your first objective and moved the stop to breakeven +1 the market will come back for the re-test and stop you out making your second objective impossible. Just a thought.....see if your observations corroborate this premise. Let me know.

Jeff

YM I like a 10 and a 15 range bar ( I tend to lean a bit more on the 15 range these days)

My observations definitely corroborate that premise. Thanks for the viewpoint.

Jeff, I can't find the "Lin_Reg_color_Paint_v01" indy in this forum. Please, could you send it to my private mail or give the link to the Sharky package that contains it.

Maybe we should look further into the more simpler charts.
Look how EUR/USD future contract is behaving with just the TSS en the HalfHourBreaks.

Went live on CL today.....two winners one loser......still playing with charts.

Hey Jeff, I like seeing you post some CL charts and trying new stuff. You're very creative.

I have a question: Wwhat were your trades? If you took the sharky dots or the shark fin entries you'd be 100%. What were you doing?

I'll check out your charts and see how it works. Thanks for sharing.
