Hey Steve,

I'm not sure what is going on there with the download. Maybe Big Mike or another computer wiz on the forum can figure it out.

But in the mean time.....it's easy to make it yourself if you are up for it.

It's just a 34 EMA a 14 HMA and the Zeller/Sharkfin (2) That's it. I duplicated the panel one indicators in panels 2-4. You could have it done in 5 minutes.

Thanks Jeff, and for the benefit of other members who, like me, are a bit behind the computer 8 ball; I figured a work around. I just went into Vista and changed the file extension from 'download' back to 'XML' and everything is now just fine.

Hey Steve,

The CMI Pivots Daily Dash is the support/resistance and the CMI Current Day OHL. Here's the template. I call it 5 minute anchor. I have the 30 inute virtual bars on it also. I've got everything here for you. Hopefully it works.

Thanks Jeff,

I already have those indicators (love the Virtual Bars as well) so now I will download that template of yours and see if it pops up with that PRIOR day data.

Update:

Yes the Pivots CMI indicator contained the Prior Day option.

Jeff I did notice you have your Prior Day set to 'User Selected Data', meaning you must change this each day. I just set it to use Intra Day Bars and it seemed to work fine.

The other thing that intrigued me Jeff was your definition of session time. CME define it for the CL as a close at 5.15pm ET and re-open at 6.00pm ET for the new day ie all their daily stats (eg contracts traded) seem to be reset during this break as well as daily open/high/low stats. I think this would be 2.15pm to 3pm your time, but when I loaded your templates the session time seemed to be different.

Everyday I go to Daily Notes - Numbers for Day Traders and I insert the User defined values. This is the only way that I have found to have the indicator exhibit the right values.

As far a session times goes. I use the globex open as the start of a new day. That means that the close is 1:15 PM PST and the open is 1:30 PM PST during the week. This way the overnight globex high/low are shown on your chart and often are retested during the cash session.

Good observations.......I think these distinctions are important.

I'll vouch for Jeff's recommendation for this site. Jeff showed this site to me several weeks back and I have been grateful ever since. It's pretty popular and nothing really new but its pretty great. I go to it every morning. The only difference is that I don't use the CMI indicator anymore. I use constant lines in Panel 1 and set the classical S/R levels and Pivot Point for the day on my chart before the open. Then I go to Barron's Econ calender to write down when the news comes out. After the open I draw vertical lines on my chart every half hour to remind me that a move is proceeding around that time or to stay out when news is coming. Simple stuff but it definitely helped my trading to do this pre-market routine everyday.

Thanks Jeff/Dragon,

That's great - I wasn't questioning your numbers, just the definition of when the new day starts.

For what it is worth, I just grab the OHLC stuff direct from the CME site, although they are obviously using the session times I described in the earlier post.

It is actually relevant as to when you define the days close, as I found out the other day to my amusement when participating in a trading room and there were different views of the high of the day for CL - this was because one trader was using ET midnight and another was using ET 9.00am (when the pit opens), arguably they are both wrong.

PS: even using my (CME's) definition I am still bringing the overnight action into the new cash (pit) day.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

After doing some testing over the weekend I decided to try Jeff's 30min push at the open. Good for +25 ticks.

Jeff, your early morning breakout was successful again this morning. Thanks again.

I use TransAct AT as my trading platform but NT (using a trial account for my charts). The AT platform lets me easily put in resting buy and sell stops simultaneously so no matter which way the breakout goes, I get in using predefined entries (with attached bracket orders). I have tried to duplicate on NT but am only able to set one resting buy or sell stop. When I try to put in the opposite order, I get some error message about "You can't submit an exit order to a strategy until any of its entry orders has been filled". There must be a way to put in both orders. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.
Papa

This is a known limitation of Ninjatrader but there's an easy workaround: Use two DOMs / Strategies.

I always have two DOMs open, I make two copies of my strategy, one "long" and one "short". Put your DOM options to "display selected ATM strategy only". Then you can bracket trading ranges and you can even stop & reverse.

I actually have 4 doms, 2 for my normal trading and 2 for the ORB trade.

Thanks Cunparis

I also used the ORB setup for the 6E instrument at the same time as the CL breakout. Just use different profit and stop targets. It also has worked great.

There also was a Price Action Volume template in the downloads section over the weekend (not there this morning though). Very simple clear chart. Best feature is it used a swing indicator with setting 5. Very useful indicator on your chart to give intraday entries.....
