Hey guys,
I am from Canada and I would like to know about any platform which I can use as a newbie trader. I know something about Wealthsimple trade but never used it. Any insight would be helpful.
Thanks !
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
If you are going to do back-tests and run coded indicators which work on specific platforms, I would suggest IB too.
If you want completely online platform I would suggest Tradingview.
Tbh, if you are not into complex things you can do fine with just broker provided platform as well. In which case again IB is preferred choice for many.
As you are in Canada type that in to the forum search box. There have been a number of threads from Canadians looking for brokers that would allow them to open an account so I assume that can be an issue. The best broker for you might have a more limited choice of platforms. (Or if you become really keen to use a specific platform for analysis/charting that would then require an independent data feed, such as DTN IQFeed).
Also the best platform is going to depend on the style of trading you are interested, for example, a good back testing platform will probably be rubbish for scalping which would also benefit from a low cost fee structure.
Dependent too on the type of products you want to trade, as a good spot forex platform will likely be different to a good platform for futures, shares, or options.
You do not win as a trader, you just get to play again the next day. If that game doesn’t appeal to you then you should not trade. Gary Norden
Can you expand more on why you think NT8 is ''useless'' for back testing?
