A little contradictory view since I don't want any netwbie to get scared off from the big numbers in the thread, these things are not compulsory, quite a few people trade from mobiles these days, I wont comment on their methods but the fact is, as a newbie investing in machine is not neccessarially top priority. If you can get 2nd monitor, its a good enough addon and "most" if not all broker terminals work on even low end laptops. I still use one such a machine (5 years old university allocated i3 laptop), I can still do back tests on Tradingview. But then again I'm bit of a penny pincher

Of course, these machines are greate additions, but you really need to be running something like dozen monitors and full on algo black boxes to even reach a point where you are getting best out of the machine you have paid for. And it doesn't neccessrially improve your skill.

This is for newbies like me who might be contepleting on where to spend money in early phases, not for professional traders

Well said, @LastDino. Everyone doesn't need a lot of CPU, memory, storage, or multiple monitors. It depends on the platform and their needs, as you stated. There are lots of ways of getting started on a tight budget.

Hey
I found tradestation very difficult platform to satisfy when it comes to hardware. Times and sales, lvl 2 and matrix can freeze it badly.
I wonder what matters the most. Number of cores, cpu speed, whatever cache it has? I currently overclocked my old cpu as much as i could and i noticed big difference at the open and at the close.
Does ram speed matter? Is it explained anywhere how to shop for trading computer for demanding platforms and many other things working in background?
Thanks

I use TradeStation. These features you mentioned actually are not that demanding (as compared to gaming). It sounds like you have an old computer. Time to upgrade. All the hardware items you mention are important. This website https://eztradingcomputers.net/ has a free guide called "How to buy a trading computer". Maybe you can inquire. I am not affiliated with them, just a customer.

I just bought my current trading computer from them. When I ordered they seemed knowledgeable about the requirements of my platform, NinjaTrader. I've been happy so far. The computer seems more stable is is definitely faster than my old computer. The solid state hard drive makes a big difference in startup time.

If I lived in the US, I would probably buy from one of these:

blueauracomputers dot com
check FAQ (They have a LOT of info on components and how to evaluate them)

orbitalcomputer dot com
check Products

digitaltigers dot com

best

With all respect but whatever they sell on this website is garbage.
I've seen for years this premade computers mostly for gaming where you have no idea whats inside including graphics card, ram, ssd, power supply, motherboard, cooling
Same concept is here with "trading computer" You pay not knowing what you will get. Webistes like this will sell you overpriced garbage that you could buy on your own. Theres nothing special about it.
"6 monitor support" "8 monitor support"? What kind of nonsense is that. Its called having 2 GPUs. But they call it "support" lol.. I dont even want to go further into it because thats not what I asked at first place.

I just wanted to know what parts are the most important and if I can read about it somewhere. What role play numners of cores, cpu speed, ram speed, system you work on etc. Not links to "trading" computers.

I have been a customer of EZTrading Computers for years and I can tell you that they most definitely do not sell garbage! They disclose all the parts that you purchase with Brands and Model numbers. Their guide to trading computers is very informative and will answer your questions if you give it a try.

You know people are just trying to help you but with an attitude like that, your not going to get much help.

OkarNewYork,
I re-read your original question which I responded to. You did request information on trading computers there. Good luck in getting help.

Its not about attitude.
Back in a day when i didnt have experience with hardware, i bought one of this so called "gaming" computers already made. It screamed to me how fast CPU is but non of the other parts were mentioned. I had this pc shipped.to me and it had the cheapest parts possible because thats how sellers scammed naive people. I had many issues with it and I learned my lesson bacl then.
First thing you see when you shop on this website is of course CPU. I dont see the other parts and thats what bothers me.
Could you tell me how can i see parts of that computer? For the most expensive one for 4.7k i dont see what im getting even when i add it to the cart.

If I were you I would email him directly and ask him. I’m pretty sure he would respond right away. The bottom line is with all the stuff you can always go to Micro Center or whatever computer store in build yourself for a little bit cheaper. But I do find the easy trading computers has done a lot of the heavy lifting for you and create a nice product. That being said I still went out and created my own computer for half the price.
