Way for regular guy trader to capture gap up in the morning before it's too late?
What is the best way to structure a trade (on TDAmeritrade) to try to capture upside of an ETF that I believe will gap up on open. My understanding is that while the ETF in question starts trading at 4am Eastern, TDAmeritrade pre-market open at 7am Eastern. Presumably, if I'm correct, much of the upside will have occurred by then leaving me (us regular guys, I guess) to pick through the crumbs. Am I right or am I missing a way to do this? Thanks for your time!

So you are wanting to trade the overnight/european session? If it’s an equity index ETF the easiest way is probably to trade futures. I’ve heard SPY trades round the clock on TDA, can’t confirm this though. I don’t trade equities or outside the US session. Have you tried to place a trade before 7EST? Might be worth emailing TDA and inquiring about it.
