Welcome to futures io.

Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading forums:
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive on our forums.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community. It's free and simple, and we will never resell your private information.

"It's not a loss until you take it."

That explains how you can have bankrupt traders who never had a loss.

It is hard to find the Truth when you start your search with a preconceived notion of what the Truth will be.

If a trader does not understand what happens to him psychologically while in a trade, he is doomed to lose until he does or he runs out of money.

strong opinions, weakly held

I follow Peter Brandt on twitter, and have come to know his mantra to trading: strong opinions, weakly held.

Today's CL is a good example. I had a strong bias that CL is going to pop and reverse, and kept selling into rally. That bias prevented me from adapting to the market reality, noting the strong short term momentum, and seeing long opportunity, not short. Of course, CL reversed in the afternoon, but the damage was already done.

Yes you need conviction in your belief, but you also need agility to survive the ever changing market.
