Reportable level limit of contracts

I am seeing that WTI crude oil (CL) has a reportable contracts limit at 25 contracts. Is this something to be concerned about? Should I keep my trading to 24 contracts? What happens at 25 contracts and beyond? Is there anything I have to do, or is it just something the broker does? I eventually would like to trade hundreds of contracts possibly, but I don't know how the reporting limit works. Can someone explain this. What happens when you are reported?

If you hold a position above the reportable size (at the end of the day), your broker will report it to CFTC. There is nothing to do for you.

This thread should help

It's not for CL but it deals with the situation of people anticipating to trade a significantly high number of contracts which are likely not yet ready for.

Oh okay. ...So, just to clarify, the reportable limit does not apply to intraday positions? Therefore, daytraders don't even have to worry about it?

I mean no disrespect .... but I feel you are getting way, Way, WAY ahead of yourself with this question.

If in fact you are just starting out in trading, meaning... you've been at it a year or two.... IMHO direct your energies ...at best: to the development of your probability mind set... and at worst: copying trades in one of the many trade rooms the internet abounds with.

Seek to understand yourself better.
Your beliefs about:
  1. work
  2. money
  3. RISK
  4. greed
  5. fear
  6. generosity
  7. patience
  8. boredom
  9. distractions
  10. wealth
  11. rich people

This is a short list to get you started.

You might be thinking...."wow trading is so cool but this guys belief crap is not for me... I want to focus on the awesome part of trading.......Huge Size and Huge Profits!!!!".

Well trading is cool to be sure. I can absolutely guarantee the above is a great start to the quickest route to consistent trading profits.

I only wish I had someone telling me this when I started out....heck maybe I did....who knows.... I only read the cool stuff.
