What's up Guys! My names Dylan and I love trading. ahaha.
I've recently have ben transitioning into the Futures Market. For the past month I've been learning how to use Sierra chart and understanding margins, contacts, and the different instruments. I have been trading Spot FX for 2 years now, and realized that it wasn't for me. I believe in finding the 'truth' and when it comes to trading- being in a centralized market leads me closer to my theory...
So, right now I've decided to focus my energy on learning how to crude oil. I don't care about any other instrument, and will focus on this one for the whole year. I follow SMB U teachings- I use their report cards & cognitive journal for journaling. Im only trading demo until I can prove to myself I can be consistent for 3 months then I will move onto my live account. I plan to open my live account with 10k, so I am simulating it with that. I'm very patient and understand that trading successfully takes a lot of time and will ride the train until I get there!
I am little lost in which broker to use. I live in USA, but also have of state residence I could use... I would love some suggestion on brokers with low margin and for beginners. also that they are compatible with Sierra chart.
My trading style is intra day. I use TPO charts, Market profile, and the DOM to trade. I would also like some suggestion on who could guide me in the right direction in trading CL.
I also want to get more engaged in this forum and learn with the community!
Excited to start this new path.
I appreciate your time reading this. Have a great day!
Hi Dylan,
If you are looking for a great Futures Broker do not go past Stage 5 Trading, they specialize in futures and are wonderful to deal with. They also offer very competitive pricing and margins. Do your own due diligence and check the forums here for comments and other broker recommendations too.
As for SMB Futures, they too seem reputable, I’m a member in their slack room at a bargain $7 per month I do not think you can go wrong. Plenty to learn there, just be careful of the up-selling there, I’ve noticed this in there webinars and daily reviews etc. I guess this can be expected in most of these trade rooms, the host up-sells other courses and training programs whenever he can, I’m weary of these courses on offer, such as the mentoring programs etc. that being said the slack room is great value and worth a look.
See you around, cheers
I would not recommend TradeStation, even though we use them. They are who we started with a long time ago and we have our strategies programmed in EasyLanguage. I am looking at transitioning at some point to another platform and broker. I can give you the details of why we don't like TradeStation if you like.
I have been using Sierra Chart for a couple of years, but have only recently (like a week and a half ago) started trading again. I love Sierra Chart, despite the steep learning curve. It is incredibly stable and fast. I am transitioning into full-time trading, so I'm learning as much as I can.
We are exploring Cannon Trading as a broker, but that is probably 9-12 months away. They claim to help you integrate with multiple platforms and they do support Sierra Chart. I think they offer Sierra Chart for free. I see them active around here on futures.io. Here is a link to Sierra Charts 'other sites', which might be helpful: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/OtherSitesLinks.php
