Tell me your success stories and how you got there
Hey guys, I joined the forum back in August 2018, since then I’ve finally started becoming a profitable trader and learned what works for me.
I would like to hear from you guys about your experiences to becoming a consistently profitable, full-time trader. What is your day-to-day like? What is your lifestyle like? How long did it take to get there? What instruments do you trade and how many contracts? How do you decide the amount to pull out of your trading account, and how often? What about health insurance and things like that, since you are self-employed? Just tell me all about it.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
HISTORY:
Opened my account about mid last year and began studying financial markets about 12 months before that, since then I have unprofitably traded on the sim and lost a couple hundred bucks.
LIFESTYLE:
I am on Government support payments and live in a small cramped apartment.
DAY TO DAY:
My daily routine consists 10% of researching strategies and new ideas to try and attain profitability and about 90% binge watching unrelated youtube videos along with being depressed.
There is no such thing as 'getting there', as markets change and evolve. Your trading must keep pace with it, or you will be left behind. The market is very good at changing the locks the moment you think you found the key.
Everything that works right now may not work tomorrow. When you speak of 'trading success', you are always talking about the past.
Understanding this is a major step on the path.
You are never in the wrong place... but sometimes you are in the right place looking at things in the wrong way.
Found edges and traded them since 2005 (Forex, stocks, and futures).
Every edge eroded over time.
Currently have an edge trading order flow on ZB.
I live in Thailand, where I enjoy my dream life.

For me the best thing I have ever done is not try to become a full time professional trader. I enjoy going to the office and doing interesting work for a paycheck. Starting a company outside of finance I feel is my next big challenge though to try out.
I could try to make a living with my capital but why would I leave those paychecks on the table. I already spend enough time with market data as is.
