I would like to know the kind of configuration that would be required to trade on a tick chart and also run ThinkOrSwim to it's full potential. I would like to know if there is any benefit in taking data from DTN IQ feed as opposed to the data I'm getting from ToS by default. I trade CL, ES. And also occasionally stocks. Could anyone suggest a configuration and monitor setup. No Budget. And platform suggestions also welcome. Currently Own Amibroker. Other Than TOS and IB TWS. Also I'm looking to add quant strategies and mechanical trading systems in the near future so may this could be kept in consideration for the PC. Mostly using AFL and R and maybe Python.

You mention tick data, how latency sensitive do you expect your trading to be? I've never used TOS but have read many complaints about them and many other platforms about price feeds lagging. In these cases price latency could effect you more than your computers ability to process the prices.

If your latency dependent, and have automated systems, ie not staring at charts, I would consider running a co-located server to eliminate that latency, I use Dell Poweredge Servers, If your less latency dependent and running a home based computer then any good i7 would probably work - don't skimp on memory though.
