I have not found much in the press about the looming March 15 2017 debt ceiling. Can it be easily extended/passed/deferred by Congress or by the president and is it therefore not an issue?

Is anyone familiar with the process?

All I know is that all debt ceilings have morphed it to support, so to speak.

Assuming no internal tea party revolt, should be a simple legislative pass with republican control of House and Senate.

Whether or not they should without strings attached is a different thing, but no political risk currently. All eyes are on France right now.

Treasury Secretary announced the usual stuff yesterday to keep US from defaulting. Media claims his announcement inverted the yield curve. Wednesday 10 year auction saw the I Banks bid a premium over face rates as the scramble to find paper begins. The longer this political Kabuki plays out the greater the short term dislocations.

Bukle up and hang on, it is going to be a bumpy ride.
