Why do executions appear to be diff related to bars after NT restart
After restarting NinjaTrader is it normal for the "execution plots" to be in a different location than before the restart?
I have found it on range, volume and time based charts.
If so each time you restart how are you getting the correct "look back" at the price action?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
This is expected on non-time based intervals. The reason is that executions are plotted on the chart according to its time stamp.
- On non-time based bars, its possible to have more than one bar with identical time stamps
- In real time, an execution is plotted on the most current bar sharing the same time stamp
- On restart/reload, if there are (for example) three bars and an execution sharing the same time stamp, there is no way to know on which bar the execution truly occured so we have to pick one of the three bars. I beleive what we do is plot it on the first of the three bars.
