At futures io, our focus is on quality education. No hype, gimmicks, or secret sauce. The truth is: trading is hard. • We work extremely hard to keep things positive in our community.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendors advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, we can help you find it.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

Backtesting without programming knowledge

Do you guys know of any way or program I could use to backtest futures/stock/forex strategies without knowing coding languages? Looking for customization up to being able to select the minute/tick bar size of my choice for testing strategies.

One of the most prominent drag-and-drop backtesting systems for people who don't have a clue
on coding but want extensive functionality is WealthLab. See https://www.wealth-lab.com/Features/ .
There is a trial period so that you can test if it fits your abilities, needs, and data feed.

A more basic form of out-of-the box backtesting is offered e.g. by Finviz: FINVIZ*Elite
Finviz also offers a trial, but not for the backtests (as of today).

Sorry, living in Germany I failed to notice your residence. Yes, US residents need a Fidelity account.
(Sometimes different regulations produce strange effects. Previously it didn't even cross my mind
that this US tool could be so disruptive towards US locals while Europeans seem to be resistant ^^)

One idea for those without any coding clue (and fidelity account) is to paper back test. Set up a statistical table in excel and then manually scroll forward on the chart looking for the set-up and then record the entry/exit/result. I got this idea from Adam H Grimes course and I tried it. Its not 100% accurate because "seepage" happens, i.e. seeing the "future" on the right side and its time consuming (it took me about 40 hours to find 200 set ups), but it gives you a good idea if the system has an edge.

If you use NinjaTrader you can try Sharkindicators Bloodhound to build and test strategies.

I am no way affiliated with NinjaTrader or Sharkindicators as a promoter. I do own licenses to both,
