Yeah that's Troy. He is an ex Microsoft guy high level computer science engineer turned trader so he made his own tools because he could. Basically a volume profile guy but also has Time Price Opportunity market profile tools too and tools for enhancing market internals as well as order flow. His tools would help IMHO. But you could obtain similar tools with FIO Elite membership here for a lot less money but maybe not as complete tech support should you need it as Troy would offer as well as updates in line with software updates say from NinjaTrader.

The issues I would say in using derivative of OHLC indicators like you mentioned as I found is they were all created back in the day over 30 years ago for large time frames for example daily. We have come a long way with both tech and trading info and knowledge. I think you could replace those with market internals and after you climb the learning curve be better off. Like NY TICK, ADD advance declines and ADDSP, VIX maybe the TRIN on just equities not made from ETF's too. I totally love the 52 week Total Stock market New Highs New Lows which I get from IQFeed, add all together from each different stock market part like NYSE NASDAQ etc etc and plot it.

IMHO increase your time frame. 1 min is good for the TICK. Not sure if for ES. Are you familiar with volume bars? On ES maybe try 15,000-20,000 volume bars help you see the overnight compressed too for the over night high and low (ONH ONL) fade trade.

Ron

Edit: oops forgot a zero at end of 15,000...

Is there a way of creating the TRIN without the ETFs? I heard that the ETF messed the TRIN.

I want say IQFEED/Kinetick has a TRIN like this already. I found it once on there site. Just do a search for TRIN and it should be somewhere in the results.

I can post it later during the week here for you.

What data do you use?

Ron

Don't believe in paying someone to learn to trade.Watching the market for months is the only effective way.Besides,it free.

Just saying in case you are unaware. Don't subscribe to Kinetick, unless you do use Ninjatrader, as you don't have it listed as one of your platforms.
Kinetick is a discounted version of DTN IQFeed for the Ninjatrader platform only.
IQFeed is for pretty much any other platform that accepts an independant data feed.

You do not win as a trader, you just get to play again the next day. If that game doesn’t appeal to you then you should not trade. Gary Norden

I have been searching for a mentor as well, but don't know where to start. The method that makes the most sense to me as far as market analysis goes is volume/market profiling. I've read James Daltons "mind over markets" and continue to read it from front to finish, always picking up something new each time. Any suggestions on how to go about finding a chat room or mentor would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to take a look at Market Profile Trading Academy (MPTA). Josh Shuler primarily runs the daily site via a Slack channel. Good guy and a Dalton student who works with a lot of beginners trying to develop and improve their profiling techniques. Feel free to PM if you would like more info.
