I would try Thinkorswim. I think you can download it for free.

Probably not the most popular platform here, but the demo version should work to get your feet wet.

Open e-cry is good. 2 week free trial, then make up a new email and get another new 2 week free trial, then make up a new email and get another new 2 week trial.

When you decide to go live, there is a data fee. Something like $5 for each exchange.

QTrader has also so serious limitations

No real backtesting (but for that you have to pay even with IC)
1 charts at a time
no complex bracket orders

and some nice features

really easy programming (by far the easiest one I've seen, same level of "difficulty" than excel formulas)
very low resources usages
very stable
free with some brokers
good data feed

For NT when I was practicing I have enrolled my wife and my son...so lot of time of paper trading

You can get 10 minute delayed CME date with the TT platform from Trading Technologies: The TT Platform - TT's next-generation platform that allows you to trade anywhere?on any device.

Also, if you open an account with one of our FCMs you can trade in our live simulation environment. Live, production level prices with order routed to our server based simulated matching engine. AMP is running a deal right now where you can open an account with very little money down. NEW TT Web Demo | Trading Technologies | AMP Futures AMP Futures

If I was starting new maybe i would look to a platform or indicator which allows me to see when buy exceeds sells and vice versa. Once this is know then opens possibilities. But that's just me. Seems Ninja and Tradestation maybe few of the best platforms out there gauging from popularity.

Cheers n best

Doesn't Ninja and Tradestation have a steep fee? Ninja has a helpful community that gives you a ton of free indicators.

There is about a 20 minute delay on the demo account. I don't know if that is what is causing the discrepancy you see?
