Good morning to the forum. First- a very heartfelt thanks to all here for the amicability, for the expertise, and for the information provided. I am a returning trader and lots has changed. For whats provided here, again many thanks.
I am an amateur, i.e. never have worked for anyone else nor traded anyone elsesī money. I started trading equities in the mid 90ś. After 2000, I found a mentor in the futures markets (e mini) and traded that with limited success. After a number of years absence I found I miss the markets. In addition to that I find it gives me a reason to get up in the morning, something that in retirement is important. Also with what meager funds I have in retirement, I hope to be able to at some point supplement what I have.
I came to Ecuador a couple of years ago. A month ago I decided to build another machine with the idea of watching the markets a bit and if I could satisfy myself with the risk/reward ratios I might trade again. Being in Ecuador has caused an interesting problem-- to wit-
After building the machine, I installed Ubuntu on one of the drives, then bought Windoze 10 and installed it on the other for Ninja Trader. Installed the NT8 64 bit beta version and got the trial on data. Started watching the markets, playing with a few of the indicators I used the last time. I attempted to open an account with NT and they refused- my bank statement is sent to an address in the US where the gentleman that has my power of attorney resides. There is no mail service here in Ecuador....this difficulty with proof of address is causing problems which I will eventually work out. I can understand the reason for this i.e money laundering but it is different.
So eventually, sooner rather than (I hope) later I will attempt trading again but only carefully. I also depending on how allof this goes, am committed to stepping up to the gold membership here. From what I have seen and read in my lurking, its absolutely worth it.
I do have one question for the forum-- is there anyone else here in Ecuador or elsewhere in South America and if so are any of you trading any of the Latin American markets, most notably either Chile, Brazil or Mexico. These are the top 3 in LatAm.
Again many kind thanks to Mike for making the forum possible and also to all of you for the excellent community and expertise.
Warmest Regards from Ecuador
