Hi Joe

We are here to help each other!

You may need to import Strategies in the near future. Similar practice as indicators, ie they also come in zip and cs formats. Zip ones are easier as you only need to perform the following and no additional compilation required:

Control Center - File - Utilities - Import NinjaScript

For strategies in cs format, you will need to do the following:

1. move them to the Strategy folder (My Documents\NinjaTrader 6.5\bin\Custom\Strategy)
2. Control Center - Tools - Edit NinjaScript - Strategy
3. pick a Strategy and press "F5" to compile

According to NJ Customer Service, you only need to "F5" compile successfully once. All new strategies will then be available. Good luck!

Beth

Hello, which TimeFrame do you use in the first screenshot ?

They are 4 Range bar charts. You can use ANY timeframe you please, including Min, Tick bars etc.

Range Bars are not comparable to Time charts. A time chart (5 Min) completes the bar every 5 min, no matter what the volitilty was up or down. A bar chart e.g. 4 bar chart will only complete a bar if the price has moved 4 ticks or more, and then a new bar is formed. A 10 bar chart will only form a new bar if the price has moved more than 10 ticks. In a bar chart if the move took an hour, you would get only ONE bar, but in a time chart i.e. 5 min. you would have had 12 bars in that one hour. Range bars tend to diminsh the problem of choppy markets.

Take a look at the Range Bar Chart and also an article Time is relative with [AUTOLINK]range[/AUTOLINK] bars - Financials - Futures Magazine

Thank you for your help.
Last question: Is the JeffADX indicator important?

I do not use JeffADX as I have a little box called the AboxforRange which give me the number of the ADX that I use. JeffADX is usefull if you want to see the actual ADX bars or lines.

perryg question if i may,,,, could you elaborate a bit more on when you take trades... ie i get the picture when you post a chart and see the entry bars clearly but i wonder as so often when i log on to trade i may be early to a trade or i may have missed the optimum entry candle... besides the 'rules' do you take any other trades that arent as optimal? thanks joe

hello joed,

how about this :

YOU post some charts and ask your questions to the trades / situations your are unshure with / you have questions to !

that makes it
- more effective for you (cause you get specific answers)
- easier to answer cause perry / others knows exactly what to look at

just as an idea to get most out of it here ....
