Thanks for the reply. I definitely agree with you, but even if something that works may be improved (maybe not in your case, with 90% wins ). I asked because i read a post at some time that said like "... no, from now on will use this indicator.." and i wasn't sure if rules were affected too or if anything else was changed over time.

Thanks again.

I am not sure what you are referring to, but I have no objection to people changing certain things to suit their style of trading, in fact can encourage this type of positive thinking. A lot of good people out there have come up with some real nice ideas to improve my system and have put out some cool and improved indicators. All this just adds to the great impact that Big Mikes forum has on traders. Believe you me I am listening to the problems that traders are having with this system and am working hard at finding unconventional ways of solving this.

You're doing a great job. Is nice to see successful traders like you and a few others here that are helping new comers and not trying to sell them the Holy grail of trading, the "never lose" indicator, a 5k course or who knows what else... I can't wait for Monday, to see if i can catch up some setups using your method. I will come back if i get into any troubles .

This is a rule of the thumb for Range bars, like a similar rule of the thumb for Time charts is a 1:3 e.g. 1min and 3min or 5min and 15 min. For Tick charts your would use 150 Tick with 450 tick higher TF.. For time and tick charts the 1:3 rule could also be put down to the fact that 3 is a fibonacci number. This rule does not work exactly with range charts and should always be smaller.
You basically try to find the best FIT for the higher time frame that will give you confirmation for the lower time frame with entries not too distant apart. A very high time frame will give you very few entries on the lower time frame, so we really try and find a good fit for confirmation and quantity of entries.

Take all the indicators that you used in 6.5 and import them into ver 7. Thats all you have to do.

Having just decided to purchase a lifetime MC7 license (rather than NT7 based on a bunch on opinions expressed here on futures.io (formerly BMT), personal experience and "special pricing"), before I embark on converting indicators (as necessary) from NT7 to EasyLanguage I figured I'd ask if anyone has already started down that path.

If not, it will be both a good learning experience for me and a hopefully worthwhile contribution to futures.io (formerly BMT) when I'm done.

Wish me luck!

Always nice to have another EL programmer on the forum, please share your code as you go

Donating the code is a given - it's the least I can provide given everything I've learned here on futures.io (formerly BMT)!

That being said, working with EL has caused part of the C++/C# section of my brain to revert back to my Pascal 101 days (gulp, 25+ years ago ). Translating the C# NT code to EL isn't too bad once you get the hang of it, but it will take me a little time to become proficient (at least by my standards). JeffsUniversalMovingAverage_v1 was the first converted thus far, and I'm about half way through DMplus_v3a at the moment. Once I have three or four converted and reasonably tested, I'll upload them unless folks don't mind me taking a couple weeks to convert and test them all.

Back to it...

Getting close to "Beta" on the MultiCharts 7 (running Beta 4 / Build 4344 at the moment) port of the indicators used by Perry, focusing currently on:
  • DMPlus_v3a
  • Force_Index_v02
  • JeffsUniversalMovingAverage_v1
  • MASlopeBoxMulti
  • TheAboxForRange
I'm using the stock EMA(5) included in MC7 and haven't bothered with Murray Math lines yet but it's on the TODO (and I've seen it mentioned elsewhere so it may already be "done").

I have to manually calculate atan2() apparently for MASlopeBoxMulti as it's not included in the stock MC7 function list that I've seen. I don't think Perry has been using this indicator recently, but I still find it helpful and worth porting even if we don't end up using it here.

Positioning text has been a pain (even with using GetAppInfo() values) since there may be cases where multiple bars have the same "bartime" value so the screen scrolls, but the text doesn't, so the "Chop!/Trade!/etc." alerts in DMplus_v3a look like they're dancing a little in the header (same goes for the ADX in TheAboxFor Range). Distracting at best, and I'm hoping there's a way to fix this long-term. There's also no direct way to draw a rectangle without drawing individual lines, so for the ADX slope, I'll most likely just live with coloring the border the same color as the text (red/green) rather than purple like on NT.

My force index bars are done differently and I'm working on reconciling why they don't match the NT version exactly (though are reasonably close at times). I'm feeding NT7 and MC7 with IQFeed ("delayed") data in the attached charts for comparison, but I'm sure they don't both start on the same "tick" so won't look exactly alike anyway. It would be helpful if there were a way to synchronize the bar displays, but I'm not going to worry about it for now.

I'm not paying for real-time data yet since I'm no where near close to "live trading" - I'm still trying to figure out how to get my sim/demo IB/TWS account working (sans market data). I think they play nicely with eSignal data, but not sure about IQFeed yet.

-Guy

p.s. I wish MC7 had bold, dashed lines too
