I'm wanting to put a quote board up and would like to customize the content to show not just real time quotes but also my position info and some other info.
Does anyone have some experience with this? Are these usually Ethernet equipped?
I still want to do it, but haven't spent time to that end yet.
I really wanted the ability to show some stuff in my entertainment room where I "relax" (lol - as seen by me wanting a ticker board there).
But trying to find something where I can easily feed it the info as so far eluded me. For example, Sierra can open a socket connection or write to a file, but how to interface that with what is on the market --- well, I haven't found a solution yet, although I am sure it is out there.
If you are looking for a LED Ticker you can google Rise Display (sorry I don't have rights to post links) they custom build tickers to virtually any size. The are primarily used for commercial applications such as trading floors, retail brokerage etc.
As for data options you can treat the display as general atmosphere using 20 minute delayed quotes or you can look to use a tool like C-scape's Jetstream (works with Rise or other providers if you google them) that allows you to mine data from spreadsheets, databases, or other tools to create a stream for a ticker display.
Another option aside from a scrolling ticker would be to format the data and put it up on a flat panel TV. You can use free open source software tools like Rise Vision to do this.
