I thought I would start a thread to share peoples experiences on going from Sim to a Live account.
I think every trader has had that moment in sim/paper trading where you think you have discovered the edge only to later be slapped in the face and brought back to reality. And this cycle continues numerous times where you think "OK, this time I truly have discovered the edge! I am a genius!"
What was your "aha moment"? Did it end up working for you? If not, why not?
Have you had a strategy or trading plan that worked for you while paper trading or in simulation only to be let down when going live?
What were the reasons for your results not being as expected?
Maybe you did better in you live account than your sim account!
Would be good to here some peoples experiences as I am looking at going live for the second time

For me, it comes down to psychology and having too much of a results-based mindset. When I went from demo to live, I found the pressure of having money on the line changed the way I traded e.g. I wouldn't take trades I should be or I would close winning trades out early in order to bank a profit etc.
I think I have now figured out that thinking about results too much really affects the way I trade.
I am now back on demo but I now have a clear plan of what I need to achieve in order to have the confidence and the right mindset to go back to a live account.
