in this indicator-madness around here its nice to see some of the clean priceaction-stuff also !

It's very easy to get overloaded on indicators in pursuit of that Holy grail. I think this is probably something every trader goes thru.

I realized that I had gotten so far away from the basics that I couldn't see the forest for the trees.

Here's a good & clean chart of GG.

This is working out pretty good for entries. I would like to see a way to get in at least 1 point quicker tho.

Will do KingFish. I had planned to this week but forgot it was the week after July 4th so it's been very low volume and little movement.I doubt it will be much better til September.

Thx,

dave

This is a cool entry Xzap!

I traded it pre-market (for just 1-point only) and it did well. Then another good trade off after a 10:00am reversal. Could have gotten more than 5-points on the runner, but I thought price would hit resistance at 50% of the down-move.

Anyway, folks should play around with this entry technique.

Thanks Xzap!

Glad to see that work out Chartsky

Hopefully this week I'll have more time to test it myself.

Thx,

dave

Update: I really didn't have time to test this more this week but in reviewing my charts at the end of trading I can see this WILL WORK if hard rules are written and followed.

I see a way to get in the trade earlier but with added reward comes added risk so I'll continue to work on it

Dave

Here's a great example from Friday, 7/17/09.

Chart: ES, 5 minute
Indicators: Floor pivots, MACD

Plan: Enter on 2nd histogram bar above 0. From entry to high would have netted a +5.25. You never get 100% of the trade so 50% would have netted you a + 2.5.

Notice the simplicity of the chart.

I'll follow up with another image of a chart with less indicators.

Thx,

dave

Exact same chart with nothing but the MACD histogram.

Xzap,
What do you use for stop loss? Another time frame? or certain number of ticks?
Thanks,

Vic
