Can someone help me about what number of range bars and also timeframes I need to my day trading with CL and ES. Lately I tryed to use ticks and range bars. The problem with ticks at Ninjatrader is the Volume, ticks bars doesn't print in a pretty way the Volume. Ticks are all bars almost the same size and you can not see the difference:
Range bars are fine, but I need to know what timeframes need for study. What I know (I saw a Big Mike video about CL) is:
1 timeframe: 89 volume bars
2 timeframe: 6 range bars
2 timeframe: 12 range bars
And the next? I think at least I need 1 or 2 timeframes more until timeframe Day bar to see the direction of the trend, 32 range bars could be ok? I tryed 24 range bars but seems a few...
The last question, what timeframes for the ES with range bars do you use as well???
Chart of the 9 Range bar of CL today.
i like the size 9 Range bar, as i recently have been working with.
mmichaels also uses this size Range bar i have seen.
Good for day trading so far.
Yea, i do use Multiple Timeframes/bar sizes, but thought you were asking for Range size in particular.
I use mainly Renko type charts.
I use sizes 3 up to 12 Renko for day trading.
I scan through these sizes looking for set ups, and as you mentioned i would be looking at Larger size for trend and smaller for entries.
Thanks for the info... I try every timeframe, but didn't find any good info about range and how it works. I like to know how people trade, then I experiment for sure.
