What does a trader's wife do?

Well, IMHO the only indispensable attitude a trader's wife has to bring in is the serious acceptance of trading as a job / profession and the serious respect for you as a trader and your (more or less) hard working life at home.

All other things would be really irrelevant to me.

Sure, respect is the first pillar of every relationship but still there other things which are quite significant. As a trader you need as little distractions as you can possibly get.

Yep, I would subscribe to that so far, but unfortunately most women in a relationship want a certain (financial) security first...

Im not sure exactly what you're asking for when you mention an 'ideal traders wife'. Um simple answer - the woman you love regardless of what she does for a living?

I think the most important thing im finding in life is that you need to do what makes you happy. You need to wake up in the morning and look forward to the day ahead. Most people work 40+ hours a week. You spend more time working than you do pretty much anything else in life, so you need to make sure it is something you enjoy. With that said, that applies to a traders wife just as it does to anyone else. My wife is a national marketing manager who loves working in a corporate environment and does extremely well at it. If I make a fortune trading, does that mean she will change her career aspirations. Certainly not.

I notice someone mentioned 'decorative wives'. I personally couldn't think of anything worse. I want an intelligent, confident and ambitious wife. Not a bimbo who sits around doing nothing just because I make a fortune.

I believe there should be a balance between ambition and family life. Extremes certainly won't cut it.

I happen to see that racers (MX) tend to have very decorative babes. While a lot of traders I know tend to have a low-key partner. 1 - physical attraction (to you, doesn't matter what others think)
2 - emotional connection
3 - on the same page, (most of the time)
4 - makes you a better person, you like who you are around her. (you will be different around dif women, and same for her with other guys.. Its chemistry..

If you find all 4, you are lucky as hell.. marry her ASAP.. odds are, you won't do better..
