The Art & Science of Technical Analysis: Market Structure,[AUTOLINK]Price Action[/AUTOLINK] & Trading Strategies (Wiley Trading): Adam Grimes: 9781118115121: Amazon.com: Books

This guy also has a blog here: The Book | Adam Grimes If you scroll down to the bottom you'll find some summary he wrote for each chapter. It looks interesting to me but I don't know whether it's practical enough or just some not so useful academic stuff. Please share your views. I need some justification for the $60 price tag.

Thank you very much!

Nine people have reviewed it and they all raved about it

Reading into the summary of the contents I'd be interested to read it because it's promoting a framework for study rather than any type of 'holy grail' approach to trading.

It's on my wish list now (thanks) but personally, having read a lot of trading books, I think actually trading teaches you to trade - not reading about it... As long as you keep a journal/records and go about the learning process in a structured way.

Hope this helps in some way.

You could do much worse than picking up Adam Grimes book.

This is one great book that does work for me - if Grimes is whispering in your left ear and Al Brooks in your right (sounds like a cacophony?) and Brett Steenbarger and Adrienne Toghraie are watching over your shoulder the result is One Spectacular Trader.

Seriously, more and more guys who ARE traders are coming out and penning these works - even if I apply some tidbits of advice that has stuck to me because of its pertinence the result will be well executed trades.

The list of books (and topics) that he mentions that a trader should be aware of seem far-fetched but I have atleast skimmed through most of the books he recommended (except Mandelbrot, but can vouch for the fractal nature of markets right from miniscule tick scales to monthly charts) and he makes a lot of sense.

On his Web site, he is proposing a free trading course (but requires sign-in). 25+ hours are of videos are planned ( source). 3 modules are already available.

Also a free webinar hosted by SMB Training: "Professional Entry Techniques with Adam Grimes 6/9/11"

Note: I am not specifically endorsing his work. Just giving information.

Nicolas

Do you know if he covers daily charts, or is he more 5 min/intraday like Al Brooks?
I'm looking for a good book on daily chart reading...

Hi everyone. I saw the pingback to this post on the link to my blog, so I thought I'd pop in here and say hi.

To answer your question directly, I'm probably more focused on the daily timeframe than most traders, though I have quite a bit of experience (nearly 10 years) short-term trading as well (everything from scalping to ~5 trades/day). The book and the course focus mostly on daily patterns, but I am planning a module on daytrading somewhere down the road.

Just to be clear: I'm not selling anything with this course. There's no upsell to a "premium" or "advanced" course. You don't have to have the book for the course. There's no teaser. We are on week two of the course, and I'm very pleased with how the content is developing.... week 2 was about 3 hours of video and a 70 page chartbook for homework. Not everyone will want to attack the subject in this depth, but you're looking for a course that will give you a realistic insight on developing a trading edge, that's what I'm trying to do here.

Check it out, and I welcome your thoughts and feedback as well.

(And thank you, several of you in this thread, for your kind words on my book and my writing. I am very pleased to see that so many people have found value in my work and that I've helped some people along the path to profitable trading.)

Adam
