I have tried. And tonight I made a special effort, but I just can't figure out how to select a portion of a previous post and and then post a reply message with a box that identifies the author of the quote. ie: The quoted poster.
I know it should be something I should be able to figure out myself. I have read the FAQs and looked all over and just can't see it. Forgive me, but I won't be able to properly participate until I learn how to do this one simple task.
Where's the button that just posts a blank reply without a quote?
I feel embarrassed enough.
Thank you. Truly.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
In this video I'll show you how to use the Question and Answer board, create new threads, reply to posts (including quoting and multi-quoting), use the mention users system to grab someones attention, and of course the Thanks button!
I see that. Yes sir. But I want to just copy and past a quote from the post and have that little bubble with the quoted posters name show in the top left corner.
Well yea I sort of thought that was how it was. I quote the entire post and delete what I don't want. I just thought that was what I had to do because I couldn't figure out how to do it the correct way. And in some posts I see several partial quotes. So it's a matter of editing the material to suit then?
You can re-create the illusion of multiple quotes being broken down by doing some manual work. Just take the bbcode for the quote, and duplicate it, breaking up the answer into multiple sections like so
[quote=Coast]section 1[/quote]
reply to section 1
[quote=Coast]section 2[/quote]
reply to section 2
There is no automatic way to do it, its just simple cut/paste of the quote bbcode. The above would turn into:
But sometimes, often, more often than not I also just want to post a blank post. I hit post reply but the clipboard has filled in the post with a quote. One that I can't change. I mean of course I can just delete what is there. But I thought it should always open with a blank page.
Thanks for you replies Mike. Personally I can't begin to imagine even how you do this. Creating and running and posting and trading and organizing. Do you do this all by yourself or do you have an army of help? And most importantly I would think. Trading. I can't do anything else when I'm trading. I can't even talk on the phone. Too busy losing money. Just kidding. I have to believe its coming.
If you click Post Reply button on the top left or bottom left of the thread, it will be blank. If it is not blank, it is because you have a multi-quote selected. It will automatically clear that with a pop-up box asking you to do so if the multi-quote is from a different thread than the one you are replying to -- make sure you aren't disabling pop-ups so you can see the message.
I don't scalp, so no need to micro manage trades, and I have no life, my focus is trading 24/7 then retirement hopefully in 1-2 years.
