Interested to hear what folks their favorite bar types (or combo of) to trade from and why. Also, what about the bar type you think gives you an edge (best view of the market).
I can't find any threads on this topic that got off the ground so hopefully this one can be revived.
I only really have experience with time based charts so my opinion on my favorite bar type is probably fairly limited. For those of you using Range, Tick or Volume bar types, what do you find to be their advantages/disadvantages?
At first glance, Range/Tick/Volume charts seem to eliminate a lot of the noise you see on time based charts. But on the other hand, the noise you see on time based charts is sometimes very useful.
I don't have your bar type.
But if it is a true momentum bar type it should show 'momentum' in some way.
Here is a side-by-side comparison of the momentum bar and pointO bars I use FWIW.
