my setup is almost complete, still is messy with the cables and I'm waiting for two dvi connectors to connect the highers monitors. The new worstation works really great compared to what I was used to

and I'm ready to change my hardware, after having compared all features I think I will go with this configuration:

Intel Xeon E5-1660V3, 8 core, 3,0-3,5 GHz 20MB
ASRock X99 WS
32 GB ECC RAM DDR4 2133 MHz, 4 x 8 GB
500 GB SSD Samsung 840 EVO
ATI FirePro W7000, 4096 MB GDDR5
case Corsair Obsidian 650D Mid-Tower

At the end my doubt was to put or not two Hd in raid 1 (mirroring) but Samsung is given with 1,5 million hours MTFB and I was worried to loose some speed with Raid.
Any advice is still much appreciated but only before I complete the order

The X99 Boards are able to use the Memory as a Ram Disk if you have at least 16 GB Memory installed...that is way Faster than an SSD Drive....about 20X faster from what i have read.
That is a Very Fast Machine.

ATI FirePro W7000, 4096 MB GDDR5
case silverstone FT02

Thank you again for your advices!

Does anyone have experience with the new curved monitors, like the 34" LG or 34" Dell?

I'm trying to figure out if it is practical to have two or three side by side.

Right now, I have three 30" monitors and when sitting in the middle I can barely touch the edge of the left and right monitor if I put my arms out.

I am trying to figure out the angle of the curve and what that would look like from a practical use standpoint, like whether or not the image on the left or right monitor (assuming a triple monitor side-by-side setup) is really usable when at a normal distance.

When you look at the Dell from a top down view:

The curve is quite minor it would seem.

And two side-by-side of the Dell:

The Dell is listed as 32.5" in width, so 65" for two or 97.5" for three. What, if any, impact would the curve have on these measurements?

Mike

Excellent question Mike. Surprised that the specs don't detail that.

I also use 3x 30" so this would be an interesting upgrade.
Dell have them on their website for $1199 but the U3014s are still $1599 ?!?!?

One question I would have is what graphics cards would you need. I recall that when we were looking at the 4k monitors the graphics card requirements where very high. It's not 4K but it's 20% more standard 2560x1600.
