A track ball the size of a bowling ball? Was the the monitor the size of a JumboTron?

Kidding, of course.

But that does sound expensive. Had to be some scientific reasons for a track ball to be so large. Precision, safety, reliabilty. Likely all 3 and more reasons that i cant think of.

I'd like to see a picture of that...

Might be, if you put it below a thick table plate.

Try this: rest your forearm flat on the table. What position does your hand take naturally? Slightly bent, to lay your fingers down flat you have to force them to do so.

I guess that was the theory behind it.

I have no pictures of such a desk, that was too long ago.

This mounts from under the desk, and the trackball is 3 inches across. For control rooms and it has some outrageous 5,000,000 cycle reliability.

When you said bowiling ball, I was thinking 10 pin...the ball is nearly 12 inches across.

Now I know you meant 5 pin bowling...or Bocce...ball is not as large.

But still , a great idea. Cant walk away with it.

ordered and expected on Monday. So then I can post a pick of the wldman set up. It will probably take 6 or 9 days the clean the office first.

I Just need to find the right monitor stands and perhaps get a new chair.

This is my desktop PC setup. Unfortunately I'm back to using my laptop and the big screen until i can purchase a new desktop supercomputer...NT just takes up too much machine!

We built the office specifically for my needs.

Myself running these hardware setup too. It's very recommended to split your charting and your trade entry device. Keep your trade entry device as clean as possible. KVM switches can cause some trouble, because the BIOS sometimes expects a plugged usb device at startup. Therefore (and for comfort reasons) you can use the MS tool "Mouse without borders". Then you can use one mouse (+ one keyboard) to control both systems. Additionally you have always the fall back using the mouse + keyboard from your trading device directly.

Wow thanks so much guys for posting this - I didn't knew such a tool existed and this will surely clean my desk to only one keyboard and mouse.

However, I'm wondering if you can say something about the reliability of these tools. Do they break down, crash, or are slow to respond often? I don't want to be in the situation where I need to close a trade but the mouse pointer won't go to the correct pc.

Do you use these tools in a trading environment without problems?

I found them to be quite reliable, but not even close to reliable enough for trading. Response times are ok as long as you don't play any fast FPS games over it.

Again: NEVER use this kind of software to control your order entry machine, that's asking for trouble big time!

So what I do is having the mouse and keyboard connected to my trading/order entry machine and control the less important one remotely. For the odd glitch I keep a mouse and keyboard connected to the other machine too (I don't mind as it is in an other room).
