Best wishes all!

You would probably get more responses if you posted this in the Battlestation thread.
I'm not sure, but this may be considered a duplicate.

Wasn't sure. I noticed that thread seemed to be about pictures rather than discussion of technical performance etc.
So I thought the mods might prefer this as a separate one.
Obviously, mods please move there if that is the best place.

Anyway, my questions/topics for discussion are:-
1 whats your setup and its pros/cons?
2what mix would you have starting from scratch?
3 how do you think your mix of units will change in coming years?

I'm not a moderator but I'm sure they will see it an decide.
I was just making a suggestion.

1. I posted my setup in the other thread.
The pros are it fits me. / Cons: what does not fit me was changed

2. Start with what allows you to get screen time to understand the market you want to trade.
Screen time is only from watching consistent things so your mind develops patterns.

3. Not sure what this means.
If you mean time frames, I doubt anything on mine will change.
I watch several that give me a big and small perspective.

Thanks. No it makes sense.

re 2. Yes I think trading execution should be effortless. Thats why I like lots of screens. I can stand up and exercise early in the morning and look thro all my screens without touching the mouse. A nice routine is less taxing on the brain.

re 3. I mean, are you planning to swap with 3 PCs for one superpower laptop. Or swap 4 x HD screens for 3 x 4k etc?
Just what sort of hardware changes you forecast in the future

thanks @DavidHP for the suggestion.

The title of other thread "Battlestations: Show us your trading desks!" implies that traders should show their setup visually by sharing their pictures.

Thre thread that @Tiger Trader just started seems to be different, in that the OP wants to have a technical discussion about setups, advantages and disadvantages.

It seems to me that the two threads are best kept separate, as a discussion-only thread might potentially derail the spirit of the original one.

Sorry @xplorer but gotta disagree here. All technical discussion is more than welcome in the main thread, and you know how I hate duplicate threads

I never 'plan' changes.
When I change it is because something else makes my trading better.
I actually prefer to trade from my laptop alone with only a few things visible.
I have found I can trade effectively with very few things on the screen.
The more things I look at, the less certain the trade.

There are only a few things that give current or predicted outcomes.
All the other stuff is fluff and historical.

I look at it as if I were driving a big truck.
I can use the lines on the side of the road and the middle to keep me on the right path...
.. But that is like driving by only looking into the rear view mirrors.
...If I want to be ready for what is coming I must look ahead or at least right in front of me.

The lines on the side and the middle are 'history' of where I have been and never predict the future for long.
If I want to know where I'm going I look for things that predict (with my edge), the future. The lines on the road will never tell me when an approaching vehicle is in my lane and about to crash into me, or that on on the side street is going to pull out in front of me.

Only by looking ahead can I see these things that will help me stay safe and be successful.

I've been trading for a long time. (My name is not Red <market wizard> because of a forum bug) I've had up to 6 screens in front of me with so many things to see that I could never take a trade. Now I can trade from one chart or even from the DOM and no chart. I use charts because I have 'always' had them. I doubt it would change my success rate if I took all of them off my screen. (but that is just me, I have enough screen time that the charts are just a security blanket for me.)
