Have toyed with this idea for years, and would like all money from merch to go to our charity. But the issue has always been coming up with creative designs that people would buy and wear or coffee mugs, etc. If you have suggestions, please post here:

Hi guys,

It is my pleasure to announce a new challenge event for August 2019: Battlestations!

Mike

I guess I should have responded to this latest contest sooner!
I just got the notice that the challenge has come to an end.

I built this computer myself about 6 years ago and then upgraded the chip and motherboard in 2016 before switching over to Windows 10 and NinjaTrader-8

I've enjoyed having enough "screen space" to spread out my charts, but despite how it looks I like to try and keep things simple. I typically only watch the ZB & the NQ so most of the charts are just different timeframes of the same instrument.

Good luck to everyone that's already entered.
And congratulations to @Big Mike for building a vibrant, successful community for us all to share and learn from.

Trade well,
TGN

  • d) The photos need to be uploaded here on futures io. No linking to external sites. No videos.
  • e) You may submit multiple photos (please do!) -- but only your first post in this thread, containing photos, posted between August 1 and August 31, and following our rules, will be considered for the contest.

Hi All
Rather than a pics only type thread, this is designed to be a discussion of the pro and cons of different setups- monitors, desktops, laptops and the mixture of them

MY setup has tended to be 2 desktops and 1 laptop.
Currently I have a 43' 4k, 4 x 1920, and one 1200 monitor. And a laptop.

The upside is that I can keep it up to date by replacing one unit every couple of years or so.
And I've also got backup units if one pc has a glitch (although this is ofcourse pretty rare these days).
I can also move my laptop around if I don't particularly want to be glued to all those screens.
And if there's a power/broadband outage I can still trade.

Downside is that I've got quite a lot of cables. And none of the PCs are as high spec as they would be if I bought a single unit instead of 3. Obviously my setup is not as mobile as say a single "superlaptop".

I've noticed that Small Form Factor and laptop PCs are becoming comparable to the large desktop units in performance. And I've also noticed that everything seems to be moving towards 4k - leaving 1920 monitors possibly a little redundant.

Finally I have some indicators I sometimes use that really drain single core CPU. Have you ever tried renting CPU power? Or have you looked at moving away from MT4 etc (yes I know its ANCIENT these days yes!) onto a fully multicore platform? I suppose it isn't overly important to me because I'm not a autosystem trader but a discretionary one. Nonetheless it would be fun if I had some sort of "super program" that does lots of "heavy lifting" in analysis for me.

Anyway, my questions/topics for discussion are:-
1 whats your setup and its pros/cons?
2what mix would you have starting from scratch?
3 how do you think your mix of units will change in coming years?

Best wishes all!
