This is my current personal computer and trading battlestation. I wanted something functional and aesthetic but also comfortable. Just a few more monitors and then it will really be done!

Thank you, Javier

My brand new office, still a work in progress, I like a clutter free minimalist environment or my brain will be all over the place. To the left we have an old ass VGA screen I still had in my attic on which I used to play Xbox 15yrs ago on, in the middle my i5, to the right a simple refurbished HD screen and to the right of that my sons glow in the dark stars and moon stickers. (this used to be his room) I generally follow 2 instruments intraday at any given time so for now this suffices.

My single Surface Laptop with 4 DOMs on the screen + market grid/position/fills screens on a virtual desktop that I access with a 4 finger swipe won't win any contests!!!!!!

I'm adding 2 Surface Go computers as extra monitors just to log in and run the Market grid/positions/fills screen, and then the other Surface Go as my volatility indicator screen, newsfeed screen, I'm not big on charts.

With the middle Surface Laptop acting as just the Dom computer. It will be connected to the fiber internet, while the 2 Surface Goes will connect to my cable internet via wifi.

Prototype:

I don't see the Futures.io logo on your screens, which you need somewhere in the post for the images to qualify for the contest. (Rule b here: )

You can still slip an image with the logo into the same post (the post is editable for 24 hours) and you will be eligible then.

Bob.

Update: @xplorer pointed out something I missed, and then @chipps1983 updated the post unmistakably.

I just don't want anyone to miss out due to a minor oversight.

I fully redesigned my desk / room last month. I have been procrastinating this for a while but got some free time from work.

I have a 7 monitor setup, actively trading ES, CL , JY and EC. Another screen to monitor YM, NQ, Gold and 10 Yr. Most of the screens are for developing and testing ideas.

Added a waterfall and Budha. This is really soothing esp when sitting for meditation.

My development server is Dell Optiplex 7060 Micro with 6 core 16G RAM running Linux. I removed the tower and went with this form factor, so far it is holding really well handling mysql and python back-end.

These are some of the gadgets from the past. I dont actively use any, but just regular meditation. I use Muse once in a while. These are from over five years back when I was desperate to control the impulsive behavior by any means possible .
Light and Sound machine, heart rate monitor, Muse, magnets , BP monitor etc .

The thumbnailed pic in the bottom is different from the bigger one. That one has the FIO logo.

Hi all, here is my desk...I have my 'new' computer running 6 monitors and my 'old' computer running another one...each can run 8 and would love more, but my desk can't fit any more.
Also yes that IS a punching bag, haha. It comes in handy sometimes!
Don't mind the funky curtains...I thought they'd be interesting, but I think I made a mistake in getting them, LOL.

I realized the pic was kind of dark, so I did one in daylight and while I was at it...a couple of other items I like in my space...a salt lamp that changes color and my 'warrior girl'...a dancing robot (when you wind it up) and I put a sword in her hand! Oh yeah and I love incense.

Hey everyone! Below is my humble trading desk, that I hope to convert to a standing desk in the near future. I thought about cleaning it up, but it is in fact this messy most of the time lol. Please forgive my ugly mug blocking the pretty charts. BTW this is my wife's least favorite part of the house, so here's to you guys fighting for your own private real estate!

Rule number one in the markets is to never lose money. Well since that isn't realistic, I say if you're going to lose some money anyway then lose small, but when you win, give it all you've got and win big!

Congratulations to everyone who participated in this event!

My apologies for being slightly tardy with tabulating the results -- most of you know of my recent surgery, which has been time consuming to say the least.

First, let me thank Stage 5 Trading again for providing these prizes:

Please visit Stage 5:
https://stage5trading.com/

We will be giving away $500 in Amazon Gift Cards for this event, plus $447 in autographed trading books, split into (3) as follows: 1st place $250 Amazon Gift Card + autographed copy of the Global Macro Edge, 2nd place $150 Amazon Gift Card + autographed copy of the Global Macro Edge, 3rd place $100 Amazon Gift Card + autographed copy of the Global Macro Edge.

The details on the autographed book "Global Macro Edge Maximizing Return Per Unit of Risk", written by John Netto (a $149 value), can be found here:
https://theproteantrader.com/products/the-global-macro-edge-maximizing-return-per-unit-of-risk

The winners are as follows:

#1 @RDK91 for a $250 Amazon Gift Card, plus autographed book
#2 @00cedge for a $150 Amazon Gift Card, plus autographed book
#3 @miskhr for a $100 Amazon Gift Card, plus autographed book

These are excellent prizes, for excellent contributions by the members of our community. Thank you to all the members who have chosen to become Elite Members to show their support, as always.

I will be in touch shortly to arrange/coordinate the prizes.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi guys,

Just to follow-up, all info has been shared with Stage 5 so they can get the prizes to the winners, as of now. I am sure they will work on it quickly.

We will hold a new Battlestations event in January.

Hi guys,

It is my pleasure to announce a new challenge event for January 2019: Battlestations! (with $750 in prizes)

With this event, we are encouraging members to share pictures of their trading desks. We will be giving away $350 in Amazon Gift Cards for this event, plus $400 in commission free trades*, split into (3) as follows: 1st place $400 value [$150 Amazon Gift Card + $250 commission free trades*], 2nd place $250 value [$100 Amazon Gift Card + $150 commission free trades*], 3rd place $100 Amazon Gift Card.

These prizes are provided exclusively by GFF Brokers, a site sponsor on futures io. Please thank GFF Brokers for their contributions to our community, and for agreeing to exclusively sponsor the January Battlestations event!

There are just a few simple rules to follow:
  • a) The contest begins January 1 and ends January 31. All decisions made by futures io are final.
  • b) One of the photos in your post must show the futures io logo on our website. Don't forget!
  • c) Take a selfie or have someone take a picture of you at your desk! For at least one of the photos, we want to see your face! We are making this optional but highly recommended.
  • d) The photos need to be uploaded here on futures io. No linking to external sites. No videos.
  • e) You may submit multiple photos (please do!) -- but only your first post in this thread, containing photos, posted between January 1 and January 31, and following our rules, will be considered for the contest.
  • f) Winners will be chosen by counting the numbers of "Thanks Received" on each qualifying post.

I am looking forward to seeing a lot of great trading desks! Please remember to follow the rules, and please remember to vote by hitting the "Thanks" button.

Thank you to GFF Brokers as the exclusive site sponsors for this event, donating the (3) Amazon gift cards totaling $350 for this event, plus $400 in commission free trades*.

Please visit GFF Broker’s website to learn more about their brokerage and platforms:
https://www.gffbrokers.com/

How did the Muse work for you? I use a proteus mind machine and traditional Vipassana, but wanted to use the Muse while I trade to see my brainwaves in realtime.

Muse is useful if you are starting with meditation. Most of the time people get stressed about "not-being-in-meditative-state" whilst meditating. Learning to just sit and let go is the key. Once you are aware of your feelings, emotions and energy associated with them as felt in your body, you dont need a device to identify triggers. But Muse is a fascinating tool, it definitely helps with meditation, write some ml programs etc. I prefer to raise my awareness rather than resorting to a tool to tell me how I feel. That being said, it will definitely send you a trigger so that you can consciously start deep breathing or other meditative exercises. indeed a useful tool when you start out.

At the current moment, I am using an HP desk top with some additional goodies on the inside and I have an HP elite book for a back up/ travel work station. Keyboard and mouse are a Logitech wifi system with a cored mouse for a back up. Will be upgrading to a gamer key board and mouse very soon. Also keep a few different journals on the desk, the one right under the keyboard is for all my pre trading notes as well as what I'm seeing throughtout the day. Always try to keep flowers on the desk to lighten the mood at times.

Using an ikea sit stand desk with a crank, the chair is also from ikea

Poster for motivation !

Use skull candy wireless headphones, with a pair of blue blockers and hand gripper when I get a little bored or angry.

Under the desk I currently have all the permanent wires bundled up, keep a heat pad due to the fact I always have cold feet during the winter ( time to move to Florida!!)

Keep a tv mounted on the wall for slow periods, watch a lot of netflix, also have my self a nice little couch for the dog or when I need a break.

If you ever wondered why my grammar is a little weak well its because I look like this ....

Trading systems is mainly focused on trading price action, for the most part these are the only two charts I look at one is a 2500 tick NQ and the other is a 6000 tick NQ, inicators are pretty simple, a few ema's and a few auto lines to show HOY,COY.LOY, RTH open .. nothing fancy.

If you enjoyed the desk please drop a "thank you" below!!!
@Big Mike , any idea why these all turned to the side? they are straight when i embedded them.

Seriously organized workspace... that alone gives me ideas for improvement... cluttered area leads to cluttered mind... I know that for sure....good one. And yes the poster has some mojo.

In my case, I think that a cluttered mind leads to a cluttered area. It has always seemed that way to me, anyway....

How bout these markets?!!?

What you don't see or hear is the background music, it has to be calming mellow music, I tried listening to my aggressive rock and it don't help especially when things aren't going according to plan which happens on occasion!

Anyway, what you see here are 3 individual systems, 1 system is a 55" monitor I7 24M RAM then moving right is another PC running 6-24" monitors I7 PC with 16M RAM and built by me, right of that and the last system I use is 2 monitors, the top is a 24" and the bottom is a 28" AMD Ryzen 1800x with 32M RAM also built by myself and this is the one I do all my trading on. The rest are just for reference and high probability levels that present themselves to me and I mark em' on the chart. Volume profile and orderflow are THE 2 most important aspect of my trading.

And when I'm done trading usually within an hour or two if all goes well I hit the desert on my 450x dirt bike and release some stress!

This is my humble office. Nothing but trading and the study of the Laws of nature in this office. Such a nice thing that they combine so well.

The room is kept simple and comforting(the carpet you see is handmade by my mother when she was 14), no distractions, just peace of mind. Otherwise no trading.

The view is important to me, its totaly green, and especially during winter, the sun may be visible from rise till set.

Nothing special about my hardware, the screen is 32inch 4k, which is enough.

Here is my Desk from work. I use for my regular job and also Trading.

3 monitors, 1 on top I usually monitoring IT infrastructure for my work.

2 monitors side by side which I mainly use for Trading (I have an old HP Z400 workstation with 16CPUs / 48GB). I remote into from my desk.

1 with Number bars a.k.a Foot Print, 1 with Market Internals/ CandleStick chart.

Laptop monitor is usually for emails and Skype meetings.

Don't forget to say hello to my friend a.ka. Mr.Buddha. I also have a Toy Bike ( which I stole from my kid) and little plant that lets me breathe.

@chipps1983

do you find having the third monitor up top strains your neck at all? I've been thinking about adding one more up top but am currently undecided about it.

I would not recommend that. I kept on top since I had no space left.

That monitor is for my regular work purpose and I just have a glance at it but not watching continuously.

My main focus straight on 2 side by side monitors.

I had screens stacked 3 high / 2 wide . changed it to 2high / 3 wide as my neck was suffering badly . easier on neck to pivot head than tilt it

yeah I could see how that would become a problem, I would really like to get a 40" + monitor but cant justify $2000 for two monitors.

maybe look into a tv or something

Tv's just dont look right and i get eye problems from them although expensive TVs are likely better. Quality screens are a must if you in front of them 6-7 hours a day imo . Dont skimp in office if you spend 30% of the week in there . Quality screens and chairs are neccessities . Ive spent 20k on office hardware . Another handy hint if you have screens 2 high make the gap between bottom and top screen at exactly eye height , minimizes neck tilt from vertical as much as possible .

yeah thankfully I got a great desk ( sit/stand) and an extremely comfortable chair.. I think for me I'm going to have the bite the bullet and try something and hopefully be able to return it if I don't like it.

right now 2 screens are okay but it would really be nice to not have to switch between tabs

I am really astonished that most of the monitor setups are completely ignoring basic ergonomic requirements.

The distance between the monitors and the eye should be somewhere between 20'' and 40''. The distance also depends on the size of the monitors. In case that you use 24'' monitors, the recommended minimum distance is 30".

For the setups above I cannot see, how you can work with your PC and at the same time maintain that distance. The distance from the edge of the table to the panels of the screen should be at least 20''.

The most relaxing position for the head is to look downward at an angle between 20 and 30. If you use two rows of monitors make sure that you have the main stuff displayed on the lower row and only occasionally watch the upper displays.

my monitor (laptop screen is) 13'.5"" width (15.25 diagonal) and distance to eye is
30" -so if 24:30 is a ratio (0.8) then at 30 Is should be good to go.

I have a standing workstation (bookshelf with box on top).

(Once I get to million in profits I'll post a pic of my powerful 1.5GH , 3.0 GB kickass powerhorse - LOL!)

Good trading and good health to all in 2019!!

..........
peace, love and joy to you

This is the room with my Battle Station. Hope you enjoy it. I have been renovating my office over the last year and I custom built my Battle Station (trading computer) last month when everything was on sale. Previously, I had Six 23monitors and used an ASUS Gaming Laptop. Now, I LOVE THE DELL 49 Curve Monitors !!!! Each Dell 49Curve Monitor replaces 3 of my previous monitors and got rid of A LOT of cords. Also, NO SPACES between charts and Awesome resolution. The Lower Dell 49" Curve monitor is my main screen so I that neck and eyes are in comfortable positions. I use the Razer Obweaver for Hotkeys and Macros for speedy execution so that I dont have to take my hand off the mouse and reduces clicks for commands.

Volume / TPO profiles and Orderflow including Bookmap are the main tools I use for trading.

Custom Build Trading Workstation

RTX 2070 and i9, that is awesome.

I am looking to build a new beast this year some time. I just have my heart set on RTX 2080 Ti but probably need to get over it.
As if 2300 cuda cores are not enough and I need 4000. I really do not.

Here is the Performance Monitoring Stats for my Custom Built Battlestation. I keep this displayed up at all times on the top Dell 49" monitor above the list of News events. This helps me to stay tuned to what's going on. I thought about getting better Graphics card, but the RTX2070 is sufficient. I use Bookmap and it is a Resource HOG so a Dedicated Graphics card is a MUST. Hope this helps.

I thought about getting better Graphics card, but the RTX2070 is sufficient. I use Bookmap and it is a Resource HOG so a Dedicated Graphics card is a MUST. Hope this helps.

I have been pretty obsessed with the turing cards since they came out. RTX2070 is just an incredible value.
The 2080 TI is more for the tensor cores and the best for real time ray tracing. For a trading computer it would be no difference really.

I think I am going to build an i7 6 core / RTX2070.

I know I am going to get an occulus rift too if I have a sweet VR machine.

Hey guys and ladies,

The one big difference I see between the amateur screen set ups and pro set ups are the number of charts vs ladders. Amateur set ups have far more charts, pro set ups have more of a balance. I'm about 60/40 ladders to charts, I probably should have a few more charts for 50/50, but some of my strategies don't require a chart rather simply staring at the order book. Food for thought. Good luck to everybody posting up their trading desks, some really cool set ups out there.

I remember when they came out. I was about the same age, maybe a little older. I ended up getting an Apple IIe instead.

Messed around with that for a year or two and then sold it when I got to high school so I could buy a used one of these:

Needless to say, the chicks were a lot more impressed. My chances of being a future tech billionaire, however, dropped to zero.

The IIe came out probably five years after the TRS-80, I was in jr high by then... had a VIC20, C64, an elusive C128... tape drives and big floppies man, still have all that shit in a box somewhere lol. BBSes and dialup modems, 300 baud was de facto in the day, 1200 baud was pretty good and you were hot shit if you had a 2400 baud modem LOL... aah the good old days man

Love the Cougar! My folks had a green one just like that, with the sequential taillights and everything. Great stuff!

Yeah, you're right. The TRS-80 came out in 77, while the Apple IIe appeared in 83. 83 was way too late in the game so I must have had the Apple II Plus, which came out in 79. Probably sold it for the Cougar in 81 which was around 10th grade. The sequential tail lights were killer!

Long story short, ten years after I sold the Cougar, I got a knock on the door from the police. They wanted to ask me about it. It had been involved in a fatal crash. Yikes!!!

Thanks for the flashback! Rotary phone modem, not shown, sold separately. My dad has an original TRS-80 Model I, back before they added the numeric 10-key to the keyboard.

My first PC was a TRS-80 Model 4D (graduation gift). Learned how to hack assembly code on it. My first modem was 300 baud (~0.000000558793544769287109375 or 5.5879e-7 Gbps for those too young to know what baud means). I loved that keyboard. Never traded on it, though.

For what it's worth, 30 years ago futures.io would be: Futures BBS (formerly known as BMT BBS). :bmt-rocks:

So here is my battlestation entry for best nomadic set up

Since January 2017 we have pretty much been living a nomadic lifestyle.

We started in Japan, Portugal (May '17 which is when I started my trading journey), Italy, then home briefly (Isle of Wight, UK).
Then on to Thailand, Vietnam and now we are back in Thailand for the next 11 months or so.

Very nice set-up.

You pack everything in a rucksack?

What are those stands you use for your Asus screens?

I might be interested in 'adopting' your set-up. I have one Asus screen already.

Yeh all in one backpack.
I use this one.

https://www.everki.com/us_en/beacon-laptop-backpack-w-gaming-console-sleeve-up-to-18-inch.html

I use these style tablet stands for the screens

https://www.amazon.com/Tablet-Stand-Adjustable-Lamicall-Reader/dp/B01DBV1OKY/

It's a great set up. Bag is pretty heavy when loaded so you need that build quality that Everki provides.

Good luck with your set up.

Excellent. Thanks a lot!

How do you find it trading from such 'small screens'? Is it merely a matter of habit?

I'm used to 2 x 22" now + my laptop. Hopefully, I can adjust.

ROFL!

My TRS-80 Model 1 is still in the attic. I used to help a friend out with his giant 100 node [!!] BBS Back in the day too.

I don't think E-minis were even around back then...

You'll adjust in no time.

Great.

Best of luck with your trading.

I might be hitting the road myself soon, but I'll try to take that in another thread. Please watch out for that one if you have any advice you'd want to share on that.

Wow that must have been quite the setup... it was always a bummer hearing a busy signal on the other end of the line lol...

Or when you have just spent hours downloading a file which finally reaches 90% .... and someone picks up the phone.

Hi guys,

It is my pleasure to announce a new challenge event for August 2019: Battlestations! (with over $5,000 in prizes)

With this event, we are encouraging members to share pictures of their trading desks. We will be giving away over $5,000 in prizes in total, with all prizes being equal to the top three winners.

1st, 2nd and 3rd place will each receive:
  • Daytradr Trading Platform – Lifetime License ($879 value)
  • 1-year Live Trading license ($500 value)
  • 1-year Journalytix license ($399 value)

These prizes are provided exclusively by @Jigsaw Trading, a site sponsor on futures io. Please thank @Jigsaw Trading for their contributions to our community, and for agreeing to exclusively sponsor the August Battlestations event!

There are just a few simple rules to follow:
  • a) The contest begins August 1 and ends August 31.
No videos.
  • e) You may submit multiple photos (please do!) -- but only your first post in this thread, containing photos, posted between August 1 and August 31, and following our rules, will be considered for the contest.
  • f) Winners will be chosen by counting the numbers of "Thanks Received" on each qualifying post.

I am looking forward to seeing a lot of great trading desks! Please remember to follow the rules, and please remember to vote by hitting the "Thanks" button.

Thank you to @Jigsaw Trading as the exclusive site sponsors for this event, donating the more than $5,000 in prizes.

Having fun here Every morning I grab a cup of coffee, rub Buddha's belly for luck, put on my battle helmet and enter the combat zone. I'm running 3 computers and 9 monitors. This setup has grown organically over the years. I really want to build an entirely new setup eventually. I'm currently running Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 which is awkward at times. Although I have many monitors, it still is not enough screen real estate. I constantly have to decide which charts I need the most. I've had a really tough time picking and staying with one type of analysis. I wish I could just trade a moving average cross or some really easy strategy I do many types of volume analysis, trend analysis, comparative analysis, orderflow analysis, paralysis by analysis, etc. I use Sierra Charts, Tradingview, Bookmap, MT4-5, Financial Juice, Forex Factory, Twitter and any other shiny object that catches my eye

I like to view my most useful simplified market charts, and use on-chart orders. Attached is a photo of my workstation.

:bmt-rocks:

Wow, I used to have one of those back in the day!

I like two monitors to see charts limited to most useful information.

A simple but very effective setup. Multi time frame up top, DOMs on the left, and volume charts on the right along with the NYSE Tick and ADV/DECL line (split). Three correlated markets for maximum precision while trading.

I hope everyone is having a great summer!

I've been having many successes in scalping on the 610 tick chart recently. Thanks to the volitility given from the Fed cut and tariffs. If you notice that too, give me a thanks!

Please give me a thanks anyways, because I would love to be one of the top three winners!

These trading platforms are like boats to fishermen. It's a vehicle that we use to make money.

Even though I have Ninjatrader, I would also like to have the Jigsaw Daytradr, just in case Ninjatrader keeps pissing me off. I've had the platform randomly shut down on me twice. All of a sudden, the program closes, and I would have to restart it and log in. I was lucky I wasn't in a trade during those times.

It also has alot of great tools that NT8 doesn't have, and how both platforms can bridge together! It would be fantastic to see how that would work out.

Cheers! and trade well!

That's a good set up Kareem, maybe one more monitor is about the most one needs for actual trading.

Years ago I used to have 10 large monitors, but contrary to popular believe - more monitors simply divert your attention and make you try to follow more things than you can or is necessary. If one is a day trader, to make real money, one needs to trade one Market only, and a few monitors is plenty for that.

Good luck !!!

Thanks Mickey. I do have another laptop to the side, but that's for my full time job. I do agree with you, in trading, less is more. Less screens, less bars , less indicators, less instruments, means less distractions and ( usually) more money.
Of course I only trade to make $200 a day with low risk and low stress. Some of the guys in here are trading big.
