I am in the middle of reading this article from Rolling Stone and it's making me sick to think that this kind of behavior exists at the agency designed to protect the investing public. My solution would be to have Congress pass a law that prohibits any high-ranking SEC official from being employed by any firm that was under even a cursory investigation while they were in their position for 7 years after leaving the agency as a condition of accepting the position. If we have to wait that long to have a bad credit event exponged, then they can wait that long to prevent this type of corruption from our watchdog agency.
