Haha, I look forward to reading your reviews in, uhm.. let's say, two weeks? It's only 1500 pages of gut-wrenching dry reading!

But, if I remember correctly, you have a science background and should be able to fight your way through the material. Harris' and Johnson's (judging by the table of contents) works seem to complement each other well, and then maybe embark on Hasbrouck if you dare...

Sweet, will do. Not sure if you noticed but my "thanks" was meant to be ironic...

I understood that and I attempted to have my response be ironic as well. It seems that I failed miserably and I solely blame you!

Got the tomb yesterday - just read the intro and it looks like its going to be a great book. Psyched to dive in but have to navigate the halloween holiday in the states first - 5 days of costume-clad insanity. So two weeks for a full report may be overly optimistic...

I didn't see this until now...

Are you making any progress?

Yes - blasted up to page 222 and really enjoyed it. Now stalled with some other projects more pressing - thanks for the ping though - I need to get back into this book. Right at the beginning of part 3 - looks like its going to get really interesting in parts 3 and 4. Will advise... Thanks for the reco - its very helpful to think about trading and markets the way harris is explaining them. Why the F do trading educators not recommend this as the FIRST book you should read I do not know.

Because none of them has any clue.... That is the sad truth too few in here want to understand.

It is much better read a few theory books and actually think conceptually about the markets. From there you can drill down to more specific strategies. For me trading is all about understanding the fundamental principles and combining that with relevant statistics.
