Value Area is based on price distribution curve along the vertical axis. Normally the area in which 70% of trading took place. The level at which the greatest amount trade took place is referred to as the Point of Control (POC). This is often an attractor for price in subsequent sessions.

If you go to mypivots.com he publishes the true value area stats every day Point of control value area high and low. Perhaps look back over them to subsequent months and see if you think it has any benefit.
