I am back on futures.io (formerly BMT) after a long hiatus. Long story short, I moved and switched jobs and didn't have a chance to trade for several months in 2013, but I'm back in trading mode and happy to be catching up with everyone here again!

While I was away I received a few messages from people asking about the tick chart setup described in this thread and whether it's still working. I've been having good success trading ES using this basic setup on a 1600 tick chart.

My trading approach changes depending on volatility and other macro conditions. Generally I will favor with-trend trades when volatility is low, and will favor countertrend or "reversion to mean" trades when volatility is high.

Over the past few weeks volatility has been increasing as the market has sold off a bit from the all-time highs. Right now, conditions are good for countertrend trading. I will put together some screenshots and try to describe what I've been doing in greater detail later today.

I tried today CL & TF in Simulated trading and out of 12 trades 9 of them are winners with this method. Profitable, but my 3 losing trades ate all the profits. I have to work on riding the winners. Also, should strictly follow your entry rules. I am violating the entry rules a lot. Thanks for sharing all the details. Good luck in your trading and very eager to see you continue the trading and posting the charts. I will work on creating the strategy soon for this approach and will keep you updated of the outcome.
