Cool site!

Been on the dark side of FX and now doing some prop, looking to swap and share my knowledge.
Been writing bots and loads of indicators, but now interested in applied ML/DL.
Now, trading mostly /ES and /CL + small caps + crypto.

Hello Mike and Everyone Else,

I have traded with intermittent success for about 20 years, never successful enough to really make it a full-time career. In the last twenty years, I joined the military at 37 years old, serving eight years. Then I decided I want to return to college since I failed out when I was younger and I started that journey in 2014.

I am currently studying for my Ph.D. So, I figured since I am trying to accomplish a lot of things I should have done when I was younger that I would come to trading. I had/have probably a lot of the bad habits as most people when they start. I need discipline, accountability, and patience. These attributes can be learned, so I am trying to change my character using my experiences from the military and college.

My style is something fluid at the moment, I have tried technicals for most of my career but to no avail. Ina previous life I worked for an investment bank. The currency traders' desks didn't have charts, just depth of market so order flow trading. That is how I will hopefully learn to become a more consistent trader. Before the military, I had a very high-paying consultant position with a multi-national, in the military I learned that I could happily live on a much smaller budget, approximately 75% less than my consultant lifestyle.

Therefore, my goals are to generate enough income to pay for software, hardware, and seminars I may want and eventually build an income stream for retirement.

I am looking forward to trying to make a difference for the better to the forum.

K.

Great step and welcome to the forum.

You are already light years ahead of most people if that you realize (assuming you have a profitable strategy) that trading IS about patience and discipline and NOT just technicals.

Hope you all the best

Hi to All , my name is Justin . I'm from Jacksonville NC , spent a lot of my life in the Marine Corps then later moved on to powerline construction which I am still currently heavily involved in . I started my trading career about 2 years ago part time in my spare time and fell in love instantly. I have lost a whole lot more than I have made , had great days and worse days. recently I have dived heavily into order flow on my recently acquired Jigsaw platform which I am loving but still find myself using Tradestation a lot too, mainly because that's my comfort zone. I feel as if I have an extremely profitable strategy, my downfall is risk management. risk management is where I need some real help, I am currently in a Topstep combine and after a few resets I have forced myself to manage risk a little more but could still use a whole lot of work . I am not positive I have chosen the right market to trade but I absolutely love the speed of the NQ! the ES and CL are great during normal open market hours but I cant trade at that time so I have found myself gravitating towards the NQ because it seems to move pretty good all day and all night . This might be where I'm messing up just setting myself up for failure with this fast market. Hopefully if I just focus on the NQ and learn its ins and outs I will eventually become consistently profitable because I do love the speed and it makes me really think ! Good day to all !

Thanks for the welcome. I have been trading options for a while but I am fairly new to futures and have had very little success with it. I am hoping to put together a trading plan and a strategy for success. Have been primarily trading the micro ES.

Hi guys,

I came into trading a year ago after 10 years of NYC real estate experience, as a broker/buyer/seller. Taking that experience with my background as an ex-military fighter made me feel very natural in these volatile markets. As any good fighter knows, the best way to improve your skills is getting back in the ring and learning from those who have been in it for a long time. I look forward to both learning and contributing as much as I can.
