Building Winning Algorithmic Trading Systems from Kevin is already on my list.

Edit: I'm curious if anyone out there is trading with profit using 'only' technical chart analysis, since this seems to be something from the past. I guess the computer algorithms do their job in a way that it is confusing the 'analyst'.

Welcome! You are in good company here. There are a number of us who use Kevin Davey's ( @kevinkdog ) methodology for algorithmic trading strategy development. It is solid, rigorous and it works.

I highly recommend adding Trading Systems and Methods, 6th Edition, by Perry Kaufman, to your reading list. This will give you a deep well of trading ideas from which to draw.

To answer your question about technical analysis: yes, there are plenty of technicians, meaning those who use technical chart analysis. If you are algorithmic/quant/mechanically trading, you are using some form of technical analysis.

Welcome! I loved reading your short history of trading. Most people would disagree with your withdrawals, but it works for you, so that's pretty cool.

We have been using TradeStation for 10+ years and primarily trade our algos, but we are starting a slow migration to MultiCharts (MC). MC uses PowerLanguage, which is a derivative of EasyLanguage and about 99% compatible. We are leaving TradeStation for long list of reasons, but my wife/trading partner is raving about the speed and stability of MC. Add to that the choice of data feeds and brokers, and we think it is a great alternative to TS.

Vmodus,

I am actually eyeballing MultiCharts myself. They have direct connectivity with many brokers, and I want to automate most of my strategies. It seems that among proprietary platforms MC is closer to the top.

Do you do any automated trading?

Yep, 100% automated. I love MC, despite some quirks. It performs well, which is really the only important thing to me.

Hi everyone, my name is Rui I,m from Portugal and I,m a full time job worker and i have been studying and searching for almost one year know but every day I,m more and more overwhelmed with so much information.i have a TOS live account and I did some paper trading in stocks before switching my attention to futures. but when I did so is where started my daunting task because so much platforms data fees providers and so one. After all my research I,m inclined to jigsaw or Sierra charts, more the last one. But then I saw that Sierra charts with tradovate is that has not side brackets orders what ever than means!! So I would probably go with AMP futures with Sierra charts. But know I have one more doubt because I normally use my TOS account for paper trading with live data and with my research I just can have a 30 day trial for paper trading in SC and with AMP I can have a paper trading account but only with delayed CME data.i have to figure it out quickly so I can dedicate my time to estratagy and systems. I think it's what I have in my mind for know and some help for you guys would be most appreciated.

Bem vindo! Our family spent a month in Albufeira and then a month in Costa da Caparica last year and we miss the food, the people, and the weather.

Anyhow, you are in a good place. Look around and ask questions and participate. This is a great community and valuable resource if you use it right.

Thank you Vmodus, i will search for every doubt i have in this forum and i,m considering to become an elite member because i think this is really a good place to learn and interact with beginners like me and much more experience traders that populate this forum. Albufeira and Costa da Caparica are very nice places to spend some time yes, and it seems that a lot of people like our food as well. Small country compared to yours, but has some positive sides.

New to the community and here to learn, engage, and share my insights. I work in tech and follow the markets. To this point, i've mainly invested in long term tech stocks and pre-seed/seed startups as an angel investor.

I'm now beginning the journey of short term investing.
