Hello there, Lewis here....I've been browsing this forum on and off for a long time, but am just now posting. I didn't have a futures trading account until late last year. I'd traded forex frequently up until a few years ago, as the regulations tightened and the reputable overseas brokers began to cut their US customers loose. I have tried a few different platforms, starting with OEC trader(rebranded by one broker I tried) liked the layout, but it had some erratic behaviors under the hood. Spent a little time with q trader, then multicharts, which I like, and now am on Motivewave, which for me has been the most intuitive. Still trading small; the introduction of micros helped me decide to give futures a try. At this time just carrying mini corn, min soybeans, and trading the micro indexes if I see a good setup. Taking it carefully, my investments/retirement accts took quite a hit from the virus, as it has hit so many others. Really enjoy this site, and happy trading to all!

Well this site came up in a search while I was trying to find a way to make my TOS SMAs and EMAs with 2 colors as in Green for up and Red for down. I had to join to get to the answer but unfortunately the movie file wouldn't play. Hopefully someone can help me out. This looks like a great place to find answers !

Hello Everyone,

I have been learning how to trade using Warrior Trading, been in the SIM for about 1 year and for the most part I have been making money, fake as it is. The issue is always do day trade in stocks need more money to start, so I thought about learning futures (e mini's) to build up an account. I have just started in on this process, some days I feel like I under stand and are successful using DOM mostly with the thought of pullback strategy looking at 1 minute chart. I just can't consistently make this work.

Also will use futures.io to see which platforms user prefer (Tradovate, Ninjatrader, tradestation, TOS, etc.)

Any advice on strategy or platforms would be greatly appreciated.

John

Hello,

My name is Ryan. My goal is to have fun with the site and also program a Renko strategy in Easylanguage. I have been trading for several years with mediocre success. I have been in the industry for awhile, broker, and now in Risk at an energy company (dealing with derivatives). Looking forward to learning and contributing where I can.

Thanks,
Ryan

Hello everyone, I'm factorr.

New here and relatively new to trading as well.

I'm an Engineer by degree but I have spent time in Finance doing risk and market analysis. My area of expertise is the aerospace industry.

I've always had an unyielding appetite to learn. I look forward to browsing, gaining knowledge, and providing what expertise I can.

Happy (and safe) trading!

Hello. A quick intro... I have been trading and investing in Equities for a long time, and I have been doing very well. A year ago, by accident really, I decided I wanted to learn about certain aspects of foreign exchange and decided to learn Forex. As I started my journey I found out about Futures and my interest switched. I started looking into online courses, but I couldn't find any programs I liked and ended up joining Online Trading Academy in my city (Denver) . This was a bit pricey, but worth it, at least for me. They are very focus on risk management and as I am sure you all know, in Futures it's a pretty good thing : ) I have been trading Futures for about 8 month. The first month was a disaster, I made one costly mistake, which was mostly due to not fully understanding the trading platform I was using (think or swim): I had an open position I though I had closed and without a stop loss. When I found out I was out a few thousands... I did not loose my shirt, or blow my account, fortunately my stock trades offset my losses that week, but it was a very expensive lesson never the less. Fast forward to today and I am starting to be profitable, not by much, but I am starting to get a feel for what works and doesn't works for me... I have also recently switch to NinjaTrader, which has been so much better for my trading, it helps me see things more clearly, I like the uncluttered "Zen" feel, think or swim as well as many other platforms I have tested are very cluttered and busy. I actually stumbled on this forum while researching reviews for NinjaTrader...
I mostly trade the ES, I also like currencies (futures) more and more as they tend to move slowly(er) and seem to be directional for a longer time.

That's it. Cheers.

Hey everyone
I'm new to the forum, and as an introduction, I traded back in the 90's before real-time feeds and instant ordering. Like most traders, I lost more money than I won, not letting profits run and not getting out of trades in time. After a couple of LARGE life changes in the last 20+ years, I find myself looking quickly at a retirement future that would not be comfortable to live out my last days. I have at most 12 years to live, 6 of which I need to work. I'm now working on rebuilding my retirement account, and creating a strategy to at least make money to live on for those years. I believe in people, and I believe that I can help as much as be helped.

I am excited to find this site to sit at the feet of those who have travelled this road of trading, and learn.

Seth Stowers
