Hi my name is Matt and I am an analyst currently in Detroit and have started sim trading the ES on thinkorswim a few weeks ago with a lot of success after 7 months of trading podcasts/audiobooks and research before taking the plunge. Thinkorswim denied my application to trade live futures(first you need options margins approval and that was denied) 3x and wants me to take 10 hours of options coursework/quizzes to reevaluate which I must say seems a bit much, so currently have downloaded a Sierra charts demo and just starting that, which is also a bit daunting

Not really a question just summarizing my experiences so far, looking forward to learning with all of you!

2020, you might want to look into TheoFutures with TheoTrade. For the price of a Tradovate commission free membership plan, you can have Tradovate and access to the TheoFutures forum. For various reasons I found it wasn't for me but they use ThinkorSwim for analysis & signals and Tradovate for execution. And some pretty good traders can provide guidance and it might be a good way for you to break into trading futures.

God speed!

Jeff

Hi all

I'm an award-winning animation designer looking for a new side career and challenge to make money. I am a Swiss expat based in Kiev Ukraine.

I am bloody beginner with futures, did a live trading seminar a few years ago and loved it. Not much experience in trading, besides investing in tech stocks and burning a live Forex account within only 1 month.

Finally have some time to really start trading 1-2 hours per day and I am grateful I found out about futures and this forum since to be successful great masters and sharing knowledge are most important.

Looking forward to trading and sharing with you!

...Well here's my introduction!

I'm still pretty young, but have over 12 years experience trading in forex, futures, stocks, and limited experience in options. Recently I have been able to book great winning periods which has allowed me to focus on trading full-time.

Other than trading I am a single father, caring for a baby boy (13 month old boy). My son is my love of my life, my motivation and my tool of discipline. He enforces my discipline because I now wake up at 6am everyday, regardless of what day it is, all 7 days a week. This was hard for me in the past, so having my son in my life really kicked my butt! When I think about my son, I get more risk-averse and realized I would need to diversify a bit, especially during this recent volatility. Reduced position sizes has saved my butt big time. Sub-dividing accounts into smaller chunks of risk capital has helped me re-train and re-tool my skills. Goal is to preserve what I have, grow it a little, create some income, but not speculate too heavily.

Hobbies I enjoy: Snowboarding, hiking, wood working, guns, reading non-fiction, fixing the house, and video games!

Seen forum during my searches and decided to join. Glad I did. I'm Alex and I have been trading more actively recently but challenge is to work on profitability and better risk management. Again glad to have joined the community here.

Hi Everyone my name is Alan , I have been trading Options with TOS for about a year and a half . I have been in a couple of trading rooms in Austin and also Scottsdale .I have been doing okay ...but I am so tired of looking at the screen for about 8 hours a day and then selecting an underlying then getting hammered by a Volatility burst . I remember I looked into futures trading years earlier in Mobile ,AL. and had a hard time I was living on the west coast at the time . It is my mission to become a sucessful ,disiplined Futures trader . I have been watching the NQ, ES YM and the crazy bad dog RTY Lol
I have invested/spent a bunch of money trying different systems and trading styles. I am glad I found this forum
Thanks for reading
Aloha Alan

Day trader for 3 years now; recognize that of nearly 2000 futures trade rooms that over 99.6% of the them do not trade - they are sales rooms. Since they do not trade they have no track record.
So for me: no track record = no interest.

Welcome!

No sales here, although there are vendors. Big Mike and the mods are pretty strict with the vendors.

I think you will find a mix of experienced active traders, new traders, and trading enthusiasts (trading and not trading).

I was funded for a $50k account by OneUpTrader in May 2019. Went back to work and will have my ATS run to see if it gets funded. Will keep you updated.
