Hello Everyone!

I have been a long time reader of threads on futures.io but i thought it was time i started trying to provide some content and become more interactive so here i am, My name is James i am from Auckland, New Zealand.

I'm super new to trading have started reading some books and trying to wrap my head around some systems, I am currently reading Al Brooks Bar by Bar series and i am going to purchase his video courses.

I played on a Ninjatrader simulator for a while and decided i knew it all and went live of course blowing up my account within a week this time i am much the wiser and have decided to take it very slowly and try and find something that works well for me.

I learnt a lot over that week the one take away that really got driven home is its one thing doing it in a simulator its another trading with real money, FOMO and what my psychologist fiancé calls "sunken cost effect" are very real and it takes a certain type of person to be able to trade and stick to the system they have created.

Anyways don't want to rant, thanks for having me i hope to be a valuable member of this community and learn from you all, happy hunting and see you around.

James.

I dont know if there is a word that describes someone less versed than a noob but that would be me. So far I have only started a NinjaTrader demo account and have been trying to build consistency and find a strategy that works for me. My only experience in trading so far has been a Forex demo account which i did very well on however i did realize i was using a margin that wasnt practical and making trades i would not have made with my own money. YouTube has been a great resource so far and I came across this forum and look forward to learning as much as i can and hopefully in the future being able to contribute my experience and knowledge(once i have some). To start I will be trading Micro ES until i feel my consistency is ready for the Mini ES. From there who knows. Yachts, private jets, gold plated helicopters with alligator skin seats here i come .... they really need a font called sarcasm. Happy Trading.

What i already know im struggling with is entry and exit points. Im great at buying and selling, maybe not for profit but I click like no ones business.

Hello traders,
I finally took the time to register here. It was my source of finding reliable information since I begun trading futures.
I don't have much experience in trading futures and made the error of thinking that because I traded stocks many years I can just jump on trading futures without problems... well I guess you know how that ended up.
Thanks for your contributions, hope I can return some of that too.
Best regards to all!

Hi all,

I just wanted to make my introductions - I'm over 60 now, retired from the gas industry..
I've never been one for toys like boats or planes but I have always had an active platform and
trading account since 2001. I started with Tradestation where I posted as "Lincoln" and shared
a few things. My first TS platform I bought in '97 I think where I had to learn how to keep
the "load" on the memory and percentage of resources at a level that wouldn't crash my computer..
Things are different now with a useful internet and awesome computers.

I'm using NinjaTrader these days (because I bought it) and because Topstep still uses it but my
preference is Sierra Charts and I may very well go back to SC if I can find a couple indicators that I'm using now..

I've read big Mikes post here and I couldn't agree more - without getting philosophical myself I think
he nailed it when he said the key is within us to be successful traders. I've gleaned the same sentiment from Dr. Steenbarger from countless help sessions I've listened to.. When I started trading to meet my "needs" and then quit the profits build.. When I stay in it and try to "kill" it on big volatility days I give back wayyy too much and always did.. Can't seem to change that outcome.

If anybody is interested in my experience or wants to employ what I use I'll be happy to share - but I'd ask that it be on more of an ongoing basis. I will limit this interaction to just a few to keep it manageable.. I had a mentor in the '90's and at this point I be happy to give back to honor the help I received..

take care and trade well,

Hi all,

I'm new to tradestation and algo trading all together. Prior experience involved buy and hold through banks with appropriate doses of success and failure.

I got on this forum to find out how to diversify within tradestation accounts, but I see there may be a goldmine of other resources here as well.

Well good luck to all, I'd like to see more of us little guys beat the institutions, and I am sure we can if we look out for each other.
