hi everyone

I am a beginner at trading, 26 years old, started doing options and had some success but would like to learn more about futures. I work at a airline company and have contact with traders who are pretty experienced and luckily one of them became my mentor. I am looking into learning about futures for more consistent gains. any advice is welcomed.

thanks !

Hello everyone,

My background is in electrical engineering and computer science. Basically a processor guy in Silicon Valley. Have traded stocks for a few years, but not very seriously. Now I'm getting more serious about it, and just started to learn about futures. Looking forward to learning everything.

Thanks.

I trade Gold futures only . I have many years experience investing in stock. Investing thousands in trading systems/software, including NexgenT3 software on NinjaNT7 for 5 years , TOS , MT4. MY5 and did only to loose thousands more in my trading account. But I have not given up! During the past 3 year I have been studying Market Profile, trading psychology, and tape reading and participate in so many webinars . I started to implement new software using Ichimoku I have been having some Ah Ha! moments and feel I am now on the right track; but still much more to learn. I am currently trading in life using Ninja Trader. This is an exciting journey of self discovery and learning new skills and check indicators that works in day trading. I learned about your Forum through Invest To Success. I am willing to work with script coders to modify indicators that works

First Indicator is Ichimoku convertion from MT4 from Ichi360.com to NinjaNT7 and Ichimoku_mtf from MT4
with alerts of crosses of multi time frame 1 and 5 min cross can make it happen

Thanks for your forum.

thank

I have multiple years experience. First as a market maker on the CBOE in 02-03, followed by a 6 year break, and then traded equity pairs for a year and eventually got into pattern recognition in 2011 mentored by Larry Pesavento. I studied the patterns for 6 months and then traded very small, until finally this year have honed my strategy to focus strictly on the forex market, and have been profitable since the revision of my strategy in 2013. My goal is to maintain consistency, which will allow me to increase my size as high as possible! I make only a few trades a week on average, and still have a day job to support my family. This arrangement helps the mental side keeping me available for what the market offers. My goal is to build my account up and size accordingly so I am able to become a full-time trader within the next few years.

Hello!

I have been trading on and off for about 9 years now, but was more lucky than successful. I started out in stocks and had a buy and hold approach to trading. This technique offered me a few good moves just from being in the right place at the right time, but overall was a lousy (and slow) way to trade in my humble opinion.

I just recently completed about 9 months of intensive training and have been trading the E-Mini's for 3 months live now. I have only traded a few instruments like CL, NQ, 6E, ES, TF, and GC, and I am currently in a 60% profit range. My goal is to be trading full time within 3 months from now.

I joined Big Mike's because a lot of my mentors and trading friends suggested it, and I want to improve my overall trading skills so I can do this for a living. I'm looking forward to getting and sharing some great trading ideas with everyone and improving my knowledge of trading overall.

Thanks for having me!

Hi Mike + everyone!

I am approaching system trading with Ninja and I would like to learn some programming. There is so little material about Ninjascript that I am thinking almost everyday how much easier it would be to follow mainstream EL for trade station instead....

Your forum is an invaluable help in this respect. Only sad note is that elite membership is quite expensive.

I've been a trader for over 15 years. I was one of the first day traders, then the crash in 2001 came. I still walked away from that intact and made quite a bit of money. However, I moved on into precious metals and did fairly well with that, albeit a much more slow trade. I took off stock trading for the past 4 years to concentrate on my own business because it was floundering with the economy. We seem to be back on track, so now its time to pick up from where I left off. Im expecting big things from the market in the next several months, especially in small caps, so I'm back for the time being.

Hi everyone,

I'm from the Netherlands. I have been trading for a few years learning and trying out different strategies. I keep staying close to breakeven. I guess i'm lucky to have gained knowledge and experience without losing or spending a lot of money. Eager to learn more on this forum.

I've actually been a member here for quite awhile. In the past, I've only visited occasionally for a webinar or opinion on a particular subject. I'm beginning to become more regular here and appreciate the civil tone not found on some other discussion boards. I feel that my consistency is not as good as my knowledge base is. Hopefully, I'll be able to improve in that regard.

Hi all,

Quick summary of my journey thus far:

Summer '06- Started with a seminar. Started reading a bunch of books (Think And Grow Rich, Trading For A Living..), websites etc.

Early '07- First live trade. I would spend the next several months trading at $32 per round trip on a small account ($3-6K) and STILL ended up about $200! No fear...

That summer, I took out a loan, did well for a couple months with my $50k account then proceeded to fall flat on my face with 8 losses in a row. Financially I controlled the risk. Emotionally, I was ruined.

I've since had isolated periods of profitability which has left me slightly down over my 7+ year trek. My attention turned decisively towards psychology and management of self in late '08 when I started my blog "OnlyTheMomo".

Hope to hear from other like-minded traders soon!:

Thanks for having me guys..I can see from browsing thru the forum this is a very positive place and I look forward to contributing in the future. My trading journey has been a slow patient one, of learning, watching, paying for education, reading, practicing, etc. My curiosity for the markets developed after the tumble into the recession a few year back and watching the pain that my older family members and friends were going through with their retirement accounts. I was inspired to take control of my future...I had some initial "lucky" success and realized that it could not be that easy. The process has been a lot slower than I expected...but that is OK because I have developed a lot a patience for this game, something I wish I had more of on other aspects of my life. I am currently developing my trading plan and mostly paper trading to find a time frame that suits me. Thanks to everyone for their contributions - I look forward to adding to the discussion.

Greetings everyone,

Since paper trading in high school I have always had a fascination for trading. I currently however have minimal (average joe) experience with some stock purchases, index based ETF and mutual funds. I am now planning on getting seriously into trading and fueling this passion. My professional background is software development and architecture as well as information security (the risk management aspect should be handy in this new endeavor).

I now have surface knowledge of ETF, Forex, Futures, etc. Currently, I am focusing my efforts into really understanding what I am about to do with intricate details. I am learning about value vs growth stocks, fundamental analysis and technical analysis techniques and all the indicators available, etc. I have been reading information from many web sites and started to read some fantastic library books as well.

I have toyed a lot with quite a few pieces of software (both desktop and mobile), so far my favorite finds are ninjatrader, the thinkorswim app and barchart.

I will be taking a slow approach and master the subject and tools first then formulate strategies that I will validate via paper trading. Only when this is complete will I start my real portfolio. Therefore, this should be a long and hopefully fruitful journey!

Any and All advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks for this fantastic resources Big Mike and looking forward to learning from and contributing to the community!

- Mike

New to trading. Have developed an intra-day micro-trend approach to EUR/USD that's proving very profitable in demo. Plan to trade live in Jan, starting small.

hello can you show me your micro- trend approach - and what about the big trend - you must know before you enter major trend and risk of the day that you can handle or your account will be losing before you know it - we have to know what is the current day trend not what the news trend and forget about news from cnbc Bloomberg when trading them bulshit and make you creasy - what the chart and major pivot are tell are true then what the tv story

Hope I help

I do have indicators from all kind of companies
if they are member know how to convert them I will discuss them one by one
also latter we can make them into strategy

If I have team to develop and modify indicators ATM strategy for NINJA that do not let place stop above and stop below market with the ATM unless you do it manually as this is the limitation of the ATM only one stop or stop limit
Ninja do not answer this ? this is good for news time trader or before break out happen - or when the marker get squeeze and you want to place stop buy stop sell when a channel developing but as soon as one get trigger the open stop must move to protect your entry in fast moving market it can be very hard to control by hand moving the stop the left open

I can explain in more detail on Skype eli.arilei

Hello all. My name is Fritz. Serial entrepreneur, husband, retired hockey dad, retired hockey coach, and an avid tournament poker enthusiast(btw, not a gambler, it's in the math).
I started in the world of trading in the late 70's, manually going through a broker. Didn't take me long to see the cycle of broker needs to make commissions and bailed on that plan.
I also got hooked up with a fellow in the old Vancouver stock exchange, (it was like the wild wild west back then as it was mostly speculative gold mining) who would have a list of folks to buy up any ipo's he introduced. File that under education also.
Coming to the realization of how little I knew of how I thought the markets worked, I set out to educate myself on the subject between businesses, hockey games, and life in general.
Late 90's to early 2000's, I dove in again, but this time I worked at it full time. We had a awesome group of 10 workaholics in a private mIRC chat room, and we would spend hours upon hours scanning and looking for stocks to trade. Sub-pennies to Nasdaq is where we would mostly farm. We, as a group, developed spreadsheet after spreadsheet looking for certain setups and patterns. But (there always seems to be a but), I started to get massive headaches, and you cannot trade, or do the work well, buzzed on advil. The cause, I found out much later, was the difference between the frequency/refresh rate of the overhead florescent lights in my office, and the 6, old style CRT monitors I was staring into all day. The solution was LCD screens. But back then they were super expensive, and nobody I knew was using them. Now this time around I was money ahead, but it was a chore to put in the time, so I parked it again.
I could not forget trading and kept my eye on the industry, still reading book after book.
Then the light bulb moment. I had spend so much time finding stocks to trade, I totally missed that I had a poor idea "how to trade". My boys are all retired from hockey, and my businesses are self sustaining, so back to school for me!
The futures.io (formerly BMT) community is an amazing resource, and thanks to all who contribute. One day I hope to make a contribution also.

i'm from Iran & i'm trading CME futures
.due to global sanctions against iran i trade in a unusual way !

first i trade with trading account of a friend(i can not legally trade due to my nationality ).
second each 1-2 months i receive my profits in cash from passengers of airplane who travels from states to iran! account holder takes 10% of profits and give the rest to some passengers which are his friends.we can not have credit card or even wire transfer ,all is blocked.even worse due to sanctions we can not publish scientific papers in finance journals ! and even worse than all of them ! internet speed above 128kbps is forbidden here.and this bandwidth is shared between 10-12 persons.
i use 5 different modems (incuding ADSL + 3G +WIMAX and etc ) & dispatch (mix) them just to connect to a co location server and trade with a monochrome/black & white screen (the lowest quality to compensate low speed)

it took me 4-5 years to learn and build my edge .now i'm profitable consistently not only because of my method.but rather because of money management and trading psychology.
i'm really jealous to you that you all can have high speed internet, can have a trading account in your name and can have banking account & paypal and even can pay with paypal to be a ellite member.i'm really jealous that you can have access to prop trading firms capital.setting up a trading account for you may take 30 minutes.while only setting up internet connection took me a year .

i'm struggling and try to survive these rigid & stupid sanctions ! the reality that i can make money out of most traders who can not, is a clue of hope for me to continue this way with all difficulties & risks.

WTF who is banning high speed internet??

The government and system do it. access to free information is highly forbidden here so facebook ,twitter, youtube ,etc... are all blocked. they say that low speed internet is sufficient enough ! ( can you imagine a 128 kbps bandwidth that is shared between 10 persons !! )

Good Evening, Friends. I've done my bit to help get Christmas dinner going, and while waiting for the roast beast to appear in all its glory, I took a minute to sign up here. I hope to be able to learn, and to contribute; I'm a semi-retired (still doing some consulting gigs) bank FX sales and trading executive, now working with E-minis, equity options, and equities from the comfort of a home office. I do not trade FX as a retail investor, and have never been tempted to do so. Merry Christmas to those for whom that's appropriate, and best of luck to all here. I'll look forward to participating.

The government and system do it. access to free information is highly forbidden here so facebook ,twitter, youtube ,etc... are all blocked. they say that low speed internet is sufficient enough ! ( can you imagine a 128 kbps bandwidth that is shared between 10 persons !! )

Wow! Thats too slow to trade in the markets. A lot of people from Iran here in Ontario. You should switch location too.

I work in the financial sector but more in the risk managment than in the invesment area. Lateñy I've been playing with some strategies and I've decided to put them to work. I will keep you up to date with my achievements and failures. Best regards to all.

I am a fairly experienced trade in both the ES and CL. I had blown up four accounts ( two of them were 5 figure accounts) before I realized what I was doing wrong. I was constantly jumping from method to method never gaining consistency in anything. I have since realized that there are many ways to trade profitably as far as methods, it is a matter of just getting great at one method that makes sense to you and your individual belief system and gaining consistency within that method. I came across this site researching the School of Trade system and contemplating joining. I am still working on gaining that consistency that I seek so badly but I am working on it and having support from other successful traders will help.

Hey everyone!

First, thanks to Mike for starting this forum. Like a lot of folks who have posted before, I have had some good profits and then gave it back and blew out a couple of accounts. I hope to be able to learn from everyone in here and give back some day.

Hello fellow traders! What an awesome site. I'm thankful to have found this. I have been trading live and sim for about 6 months with varying results. I have been a star on the sim account but am down 12k in my live account. Thus far it seems that my biggest problem is not cutting my losses short since my 12k lost is a result of 4 bad trades. My winning % is above 70 but that means nothing I know. I haven't purchased any trading courses but have been tempted several times and am considering the Larry Williams University swing trading course and the top dog courses. I am currently trading crude, nat gas and SP and rarely hold positions over night unless I'm in the hole then I try to ride it out and not take the loss. I know this is the road to blow up my account but that's why I'm here to seek advice from successful traders. I use Williams %R and support and resistance to trade right now. Funding my account is not an issue but I don't want to keep losing money because the well will run dry at some point!! I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make a living at this and welcome any advice on where to start. Thanks for your time.

I notice that the italian broker do not offer platform and data of quality, so i decided to try an american broker with multichart. So i have decided to follow this forum, i see that is very professional.
My trading si based only in the chart of price i have a set of rules that are impressed in my mind, i trade only with this. Now i want to learn more about volume analysis. Thank to all

Hello All

I am just getting back into market as I was fortunate enough to cash out of an old real estate deal. I traded my own account in the 90's using technical analysis but cautiously approaching the next entry. I stumbled across this site and it seems my good fortune continues. I look forward to participating and hopefully can provide some help as well as ask for some!
Happy Trading
Allen

I never knew why I haven't heard about this resource but it looks like it is a hidden gem.

I am mostly a day trader of weekly options. I just love them. I prefer doing credit vertical spreads and finding those options that are less than a dollar which will be 4 or more bucks later in the day. I love the feeling of beating the man more than how much money I make or loose.

I been trading for the last 5 years and pretty much thinkDesktop (thinkOrSwim) inside out.

Thanks for having me.

Hi Mike,

Have been trading for approx 18 months part time (I have a full time job). Have kept it simple - mainly trading currecies on igindex.

I am fairly relaxed and in the right mindset after having had my one big wobble mid year where i suddenly decided that i was so great I no longer needed stops and blew about 30K in a few days.

I'm a swing trader due to lack of time to perform intraday trades but having just read Mastering The Trade I'm preparing to get a bit more scientific and use things like the TTM Squeeze.

Finding it very difficult to find data to backtest strategies on for igindex so may have to jump to the next level and use Tradestation.

Hello everyone - pleased to be here!
Beamo.

Hi All

I've been building M&A models at a bulge bracket investment bank for 4 years but I'm totally new to trading. So in the last month that I've been playing with a sim account in Tradestation, I've discovered that my financial modelling background makes me very disciplined (and emotionless) at following trading plans and managing risk. I think in rules and if-then statements.

So my main goal is to develop automated momentum trading systems for intra-day equities, based mainly on price and volume action. So I'm trying hard to find resources to learn from.

Been lurking for a while, thought I'd make an intro post (bonus...the banner at the top saying I haven't posted anything for ~2 months will go away!).

I'm relatively new to active trading. I've mainly only held index mutual funds - fairly low risk, and zero thought process. Will continue to do so. However, the exciting high stakes world of futures trading is calling.

I'm a software engineer by trade (mostly C, device drivers/OS kernel sort of code for embedded systems). So what first attracted me to active trading was the automated side of things. I joined this forum for the plethora of great examples for indicators and trading related math. It's been well worth it. I've made no real trades, but have learned quite a bit. Also very quickly learned that automated trading can be complex...that's
OK...plenty of time to work on it.

I've done quite a bit of sim trading over the last few weeks, evaluating different systems and indicators, and have settled on something I'm going to try out discretionary. I'm sure it will be a learning experience.

If I come up with anything I feel is worthwhile, I'll be sure and post it. Maybe I'll start a journal (maybe not).

Anyway, thanks Mike. Nice place.

Hello everyone, hope i am in right place for posting this, i subscribed to Big Mike's a while back and never made an introduction, so here goes. I started trading stocks about 15 years ago part time, then switched to futures because i only had small account and got tired of pattern day trading rule, recently found out about FT71 and joined Stage5 and learning from FT on futures trading, took the last year off to take care of personal problems and now can finally get back into trading. So thats the short version. I see lots of good information here on Big Mike's and hope to be able to contribute at some point, been doing lots of reading and listening along the way to get to a point maybe i would have something to offer to others. With all my trials and errors in trading the volume trading of FT has really made the light bulb start to flicker, it has made the most sense of anything i had done in past. So that will be my focus. I notice a lot of others on here follow FT also. Look forward to conversing with all of you. Thanks, Paul

Hi folks, not sure I will be in a position to contribute much at this point. My trading journey is just beginning and so far has had more downs than ups. When I saw the pragmatic advice here on Big Mike's I became a lifetime member. I am a big fan of the Gom work, still trying to get used to trading with it. My focus is to learn ninja trader so I can start to ride a trading strategy but with data from Kinetick or such.

If I had to say the style of trader I aspire to become is more like a sandshark, based on the book by James "RevShark" DePorre because so far indecision has cost me more money than I have made. I'll twist up RevShark's stuff with a focus on volume price analysis and here my favorite here is Anna Coulling's books. Mainly because she helped me make sense of the really old books on tape reading, the really old wall street classics by Rolo tape and such. I like the classics and if you have not read Welles Wielder's New Concepts in Technical Trading Systems yet it is worth a trip to a university library for a read but it is old school. Last but not least Jim Cramer's new book Get Rich Carefully is pretty cool. Sort of explains why stock picking is getting harder and how to go about fundamental assessment, with some nifty short cuts on doing all the homework.

By now you can see I love to read and research trading maybe someday all this book smarts will make me some extra spending money. If I can work out my trading business plan like John F. Carter recommends in Mastering the Trade I may yet make real money trading. All I can say is it just seems you have to go through the school of hard knocks learning and several blown trade accounts before you get to the point that you can manage your emotions and trading as a business.

All I can say is thank you to all who contributed to Big Mike's site, I've only spent a few days on it but the stuff I found helped me out a lot already. Don't laugh but I have traded everything except futures, okay I'll admit badly. Then I tried FOREX and so far FOREX seems to work for me, which is really wild considering how fast you can lose a lot of money trading curencies. Let's just say it keeps me on my toes and its helping me learn to be much better disciplined on money management.

I know you've all heard this type of stuff before and if anything I happen to mention helps you find a nugget of trading wisdom to improve your game, or helps you revisit your favorite trading book, may it bring good fortune to you. Studying trading is a lot like reading the bible you have to re-read it often and every time you do, you learn something new and relevant that helps you improve.

Greetings and Happy New Year to everyone in Big Mike's community. I'm very happy to be here as a new member. I hope to have something of value to share with you all.

I'm a beginner who has been trading for many years. I had the misfortune of making some large profits when I first started out, and incorrectly concluded that trading was an easy way to make a heap of money. What I've found instead is that trading is an excellent way to overpay for the privilege of discovering the weaknesses of one's character...and a challenging thing to do profitably day after day.

I like the pace of the thinner markets, like CL and NQ, but have learned to stay away from the maniacally thin, like SI.

I'm a discretionary trader. I use volume profiling to identify my levels and order flow to make entry decisions.

I'm also a hack programmer, which is part of the reason I'm here at Big Mike's ... I hope to learn some tricks of the trade from some of you experienced designers of Ninja indicators and strategies.

Best to all, and good trading!

Hello,

I have just started trading stock options; TD Ameritrade for 2 months. Been testing and practicing on paper trade for 8-9 months. Pick up trading through free resources available around the net and reading books as I don't have the money to pay for expensive courses.

When i first started live trading, I manage to stick to my trading plan until i suffer a few consecutive losses and give in to fear and started to have confidence issues placing my trade orders. Recently, i start to study on trading psychology which I never thought it was such a difficult subject; for me, during my paper trade period. And while surfing around youtube i found some video on overcoming fear and lead me here to BigMikeTrading Community.

Hope to learn from all the experienced traders in this community and become a better trader.
Happy New Year and Happy Trading!

I am a new trader but not new to trading. Have read some awesome stuff already in this forum, I would like to thank those who take the time to share so much. My experience of traders (in a corporate environment) is that they are rather self-centred and anyone who shares stuff is either a bad trader or trying to fool you. I can see here already that perhaps my perceptions need to be altered. I look forward to sharing stuff in the future as my journey as a trader continues.

Thanks for taking the time to share knowledge about something that so seldom is revealed genuinely.

Succeeding in trading is a goal I wish to accomplish.

So far I got in with real money and got whipped by the market... now I'm looking to get back into paper trading and get to the point where I have the mind set and discipline to come out successful trader.

Good luck to all ...

I only found this forum because I am caught up in the Mirus/Zenfire fun and games, like many others, and was looking for something or someone to give me some insight as to what was going on, and what to do about it! Well I am glad I found you! I will stay with this forum now with all the myriad of opinions, common sense, and the comradship that comes from like minded people.
I have been trading for about 3 years with varying degrees of success and some idiotic decisions which, when I look back, really make me cringe! Started with Emini S&P, now I prefer Russell 2000 and, rightly or wrongly, have just opted to leave Mirus/Zenfire and go with AMP/CQG, the Mirus change does not suit me. Doesn't mean I won't go back if they ever get Zenfire up and running again, I was very satisfied with them. Let's see how we get on at AMP.

Onward and upward!!

Hey guys/gals, Springger from the Caribbean here. First post, in here, but I've lurked around these parts for quite a few months. Once all goes according to plan, hopefully I'll be lurking in the elite section shortly. For now, its lurking, learning and then posting.

Not quite a newbie to trading, I've been down the spot FX road. Like few others, I fell for the "Make Millions of this little known trading secret," that cost quite a bit and coupled with an unscrupulous broker out of the UK, I learned the real value of risk money. After a bit of a break, and some advice from a some one whose only source of income comes from day trading, I started looking at the futures market, as a regulated entity, vs the cutthroat nature of the spot FX markets.

I've been slowly learning the nuances of Market Profile and following up on FT71's style of scalping, following his reviews from right here on BM. From there, once I understand the concepts I'll go through a period of demo, followed by a period of live testing and tweaking. I intend to start a journal so that I'll learn as I go forward, from loosing trades, to break even and finally to profitability. There it is, my plan! Its not much, but then again there is always the edit button.

-Started trading stock options 15 years ago with Jerry Olson before trading chat rooms were common.
-One year later using Linnsoft IRT on a Mac I started calling Nq trades to a broker over the phone...15-20 times a day.
-2 years later moved to trading Nq emini in paltalk trading rooms with people like davebquick, buffy, dbpheonix etc.
-No one I knew traded or even talked about Es at that time.
-Spent time in Teresa Lo's chat rooms on different chat platforms.
-Then roamed paltalk for a few years causing trouble for scammers selling room subs/lying to people.Kingfish ring a bell?
-Moved to trading Es exclusively and started studying Market Profile. Both Dalton's and Pete Steidlmayer's concepts.
-Quickly made the transition from candle chart price action/pivot point trading to Market Profile exclusively.
-Played a major role in what Linnsoft IRT became with the development of Market Profile.
-IRT Volume Breakdown was only (buy volume - sell volume) when I pushed for development time on concept.
-Gave Pete Steidlmayer's CapFlow32 a year before dropping it...too many crashes...it's not even realtime...30 min updates.Not a day-traders tool.
- continued to trade purely with Market Profile while pushing for advanced concept implementation and features
-6 years ago developed HFT signals that are mostly humanly impossible to execute...ahead of my time I guess.
- stayed out of chat rooms and remained incognito ..this after realizing HFT/Algos were here for good.
-which began the search for a less discretionary method while trading through the wild 50 point Es days
-after years mastering Market Profile with some 20,000 hours of screen time burned into my retinas...realized in 2010 the concepts started to become unreliable for me as a result of the changes taking place in the markets.
- instead of classic MP moved to a Market Profile/Dynamic Profile method...what is now becoming known as "structure or time " variable ...breakout profiles.

Now going on 2 years in between taking time off while simultaneously delving into an ALGO/HFT/DP combo method and only trading in the mornings I have the desire to start pushing the envelope once again.

Joining the bot wars.

My name is Engelbert and I am from Ontario Canada. I am just amazed at the wealth of information available on this site. thank you Big Mike.

A novice to trading - I have a passion and ambition, a New Year's Resolution to absorb as much knowledge as I can to start small and target a goal to one day making trading my profession. I'm currently working in I.T. Space. Storage, Mainframes, Vitualization, Data Centers .etc.. I love what I currently do but I have this attraction towards understanding how to become a successful trader.

I've always been looking at the markets as a fundamentalist. So my plan is to switch gears and take up TA as an approach.

I look forward to unity and binding from users within this forum in attempts to learn and as time progresses to eventually be in a position to teach and share experience.

Much respect to everyone and wishing you all a prosperous 2014!

Engelbert

Geez, I made so many posts on Big Mike since signing up yesterday and should have started with this one here yesterday.. after all, there is no more of a proper way to make an introduction than here!

I am originally from Vilnius, Lithuania (speak English, Russian, Belarussian, Lithuanian), having moved to London for a free years and currently in Chicago for ~ 6 months. I traded from there (UK)... indeed, got interested in trading when living in the City. Originally traded using X_Trader, but then found Ninja. Eventually opened up with AMP and now use NT/Sierra/CQG Trader.. The first two for charting and indicators, CQG Trader for execution. Trade oil, gold, euro, ES... basically anything very liquid. I train on micros, but the liquidity is just horrid. M6E has about 1/50 of the volume of the 6E, so there is slippage and gaps in charts.

Kind of upset about these new CME fees kicking in, but my broker assured me that since I have a funded account already, I won't be dinged until Jan 1, 2015. Well, at least that's nice.

I consider myself a newbie even though I learned how to trade commodities in the 1990s, at least the concept. My goal is to learn as much as possible and not make bad trades, thank you in advance for having this great forum I have read so much stuff I don't understand, but have a deep desire and willingness to learn. In the past 3 days, I have read 2 full trading books (over 900 pages) started programing ninjascript - I can't get enough I truly love this and one day hope to make it my career !!

Hello,
I graduated with a BA in Anthropology and then went to business school. I had the terrible idea of making a living trading stocks in 2011 which, as you all know, was an easy year to make money. I did okay in 2012 also, then going into 2013 I blew up my account trading TSLA. I am focusing more on orderflow, and money management to prevent this situation form happening again. Looking forward to starting a new year, and not blowing up.

I'm Doug.

I'm 19 and currently in college.

I've been interested in equities for quite a while (1~2 years) and have followed finance quite closely. I have recently picked up futures trading to moderate success on paper, and would like to translate to real money. I would also like to automate everything! Nice to be here!

Doug, what programming language do you hope to use for automating your trading strategy?

I’m Tim.
I’ve been investing for 20+ years. However, most of my trading has been fundamental based investing with options to enhance returns or control risks. For about five years I have been dabbling with using indicators to control risk. The more I research I do the more interested I get in trading systems to augment my entry and exits. I don’t think I am interested in high frequency or intraday trading yet. I know several program languages and have used them to help me build some trading signal back testing systems. All of this has been done in a silo without communication with others. This site looks like a great discovery and I am very excited about joining in on the discussions. I doubt I will have much to contribute right away, but I am hopeful that I will contribute as I apply what I learn. Thanks Mike

Hello All,
Found this site while searching for info re: Mirus/Zen-Fire debacle. Although has been stressful situation, good has come from learning more about FCM's and data providers...and finding futures.io (formerly BMT). Have traded stocks for years then got interested in futures a year or so ago. Worked on strategy/trading plan using SIM for most of that time and only moved to live trading a couple of months ago. Look forward to joining in the conversation and contributing where I can. Thanks to Big Mike and all those on this site...know that I will learn a lot.

Hi all,

I've found futures.io (formerly BMT) searching for reviews of TopStepTrader which was a new concept for me.

I mostly trade 6E and testing ES. Primary method is of TheTradingZone.com Market Profile style momentum trading.

Happy trading

I am a new trader, have learned options and am moving into futures. Recently signed up to a great course for futures trading that is the best money I have spent on education, (and I have spent a ton!) I really like this forum, but have been a member for over 200 days without posting myself. Just shy I guess. Any futures traders on here willing to give advice and tips, please PM me! I would so appreciate it! Always learning and growing...that's my motto.

Thanks, Twoscribe

Hello,
I'm a new trader from Portugal. I've been reading about investing in stocks for many months now, learning strategies, terminology, what's wise or not wise. I'm not interested in trading on margin, or in options at this time, as one might expect. Probably never will.
Already read quite a few older posts on futures.io (formerly BMT), but still much to learn, and that's why I'm here.

Hi Everyone,

A friend of mine told me about Big Mike's Trading Forum to check it out. He has found many helpful information here and since he knows that I'm doing a thread on COT analysis (on a different Forum), he advised me to bring that thread here too.

I will be starting the thread in Traders Hideout > Commodities Futures Trading (since cot data is on futures (and also options) data). Its title will be: COT Report Analysis / Follow the Smart Money

I've been trading over 13 years now and have been successfully using cot analysis for about 7 years now. I see that a lot of Traders haven't even heard about the cot report, so I hope my thread here at Big Mike's will be helpful!

I'm also eager to learn more about cot analysis, to find new approaches, so I will very much appreciate it if those of you, who have been using it will share your views.

All the best,
Dunstan

Greetings to all!

I am Brazilian and I live in Minas Gerais.
Some time I heard it was possible to invest and work in the exchange market from Brazil. This news caught my attention but due to lack of time I could not get details of how this would be possible.
Fortunately approximately fifteen days this curiosity became stronger than the lack of time and started to research ways to do this and this search discovered a new and very promising world.
Since then, I suspended most appointments and have spent more than ten hours per day to meet the operation and techniques for Forex trading.
In the midst of all that is available on the net on the subject I found this forum I believe, will be extremely helpful as it has a noble proposal to share information in order to enhance knowledge.
For these reasons I would soon be able to return all the knowledge gained here will be the same as given me. Helping those who need it the same way I believe, will be helped.
From now on, I wish much success to all members and great deals.

Hi All,

I am new here, literally just made my account and still to get used to the site but hopefully I have posted in the correct forum!

I'm not actually a trader (yet!), I have a job lined up post graduation which I start in a matter on months, but figuired it cant do any harm to sign up now. More over, and the real reason im here; i'm in the process of writing my disseration based on the Game Theory of the Futures Trading Market. I hope that, as you guys have a wealth of experience in all differect sectors and assets, that you could answer some (very basic) questions which i hope will help to make my dissertation stand out above the rest.

I have watched many videos by Donald Vaello and it was actually through him that I reached my Eureka moment on deciding my dissertation subject! (Hoping the man himself reads this as I see he has a look every so often!)

I hope this isn't coming accross as rude, but I promise im not on this to waste anybody's time and figuired theres no harm done in asking the people at the top rather than just presume I wouldn't get a reply and not bother!

Thanks everyone,

Ross.

Hi,

Thanks Big Mike,

great to have this forum.

I 'm fairly fresh to futures trading. I'm using Ninja and dipping my toe in the live trading pool after about six months of sim trading, mostly on CL, TF, and ES. At present, almost exclusively TF.

Happy to join the futures.io (formerly BMT)F community.
