Hey Folks
Just wanted to say HI as I just registered here, and this is my first message obviously.
Looks like a great community, and looking forward to participating actively!

I am currently looking for "The Ideal" platform/feed/broker solution to setup myself in day trading.
I will search the forum first some more to read the previous posts, and maybe get all my questions filled; otherwise will revert back with a new thread.

Cheers
Fadi

Wow. This is most excellent. I've been trading on and off for maybe 25 years. Used to have a Series 3 and 6. Started with $2,500 and ran it up to $14,400 in eight months back in the 80's using hand charting and COT data. At that time, the was no such thing as a PC.

Then I got "smart" and started using a newfangled PC computer in the office. Blew the account back down to $3,500 by being lazy.

Doing well now. This forum is awesome. Amazing how honest most seem to be.

Hey everyone just introducing myself.

I've been investing and doing some minor trading for about 4 years now and have recently decided I want to day trade full time. I have been mentally making trades and saying I'm going to buy a stock at a certain price point for about 1-2 years now and just havent been doing it. I was maintaining a high dividend yielding portfolio and was mainly investing while working full time.

Recently I decided to stop that! I'm trading now, alot, several times a day. I have been profitable so far. My mental calls I had made before hand that I wasnt acting on, I now have been acting on and they have been winners. Intraday I basically bet big, sell micro moves, and take home a nice chunk of change. I feel comfortable and successful so far. I hope I can maintain my current profit margins and more importantly I can just do this for a living, for myself, with no boss other than myself. Its made me happy.

I've been looking for a good forum and it seems trader forums are few and far between online. I've joined some and this one seems to be fairly active. I'm looking forward to making friends here and hopefully getting involved with fellow traders ideas about how to become and stay profitable on my personal quest to financial freedom!

Thanks everyone!

I've been trading stocks for 5 years. Although I never really blown up an account, I spent the first three years losing some money and paying for good education. Then, one day, about two years ago, it happened. I just managed to put things together and I realized that I was consistently winning more than I was losing...

Hi Mike and All,

I was really hesitate to post this thread even though it is so small stuff. I guess it is because of that I have lack of writing skills. However I would like to start to share bit of my past experience and passion of trading.

I have migrated to here in Australia by myself in 2004. So I exactly know what is the 'life of migrants'. I dont know how many of you have same experience. It was not easy. Especially it is difficult to learn new language for person who is already over age 20 years old. I just worked any work for survive. I had to make my uni tuition as well as living cost.

After 2year, my friend taught me know about trading.(I blame him! ha) it has became my life.

As most of traders, I did not know what I was doing. Even though I was losing money, I just kept trying to make it better while I was in studying period even I was working 3 jobs. After 2years Margin FX trading, I realised I was so crab.. I did not make any money from it. So I decided to change to Share market(ASX). I expected I got some practice from relatively 'slow' market.
Well.. It kind of worked. I focused on making balancing between trading and my own life because I still had to work as full-time(50-55hours a week) as well as supporting family. I started trade on weekly and daily chart otherwise I just cannot control my life. I think we need to admit priority of you life. I believe all of forum member have strong passion and belief about trading. However if your trading is making your life sour, it is time to think about yourself. Why do you trade? What really want from this business.

Recently, I was under training course of one of prop trading firm in Sydney. Unfortunately, I got cut after two weeks during the training. They said I could improved above 'average' of other 19 people which I had to take two math tests everyday. That is the first rating method. I was quite depressed for few days but I knew this is a long journey.

Here is my reason why I am trading. I know we are all here about making money. I dont pretend I am not.
Trading(market) always treats me same as everyone. Market dose not care Who you are, What your color is, How old you are, Where you are from and What language you have. As long as you have an fast enough internet access, you can trade. If you are good, it tells you good. If you are not good enough yet, it also tells you straightaway. Second things is I would like to let people know how to lose money with smart way. I think everyone know what I mean. I cannot do this now. This is my long term goal. I am not going to stop..

I am a typical non-risk taker. It gives me not huge success and not huge drawn down either. However it helped me to have two properties in Aus. Now I started new life as full time trader since I got cut from the training. I still do swing trading for Aussie share market. Plus I hope I can learn trade Emini S&P500 futures in US time only opening one or two hours as day trading. Please let me get involve a day trading ES with reading price action, order flow and analysis market profile. Im not a big fan of many indicators.

Sorry for long and terrible writing. I just wanted to share my thought. Good luck your trading guys! & Nice to meet all!

hello everyone. what can I say
have been interested in trading for a few years now. work full time, so don't get much time to trade, and my finance is limted, so two major obstacles to over come!! day trading, trend trading, price action, all interest me, but putting something that works together is another story; lots of empty accounts, sleepless nights and where to from here sort of days; anyways this is where I am at the moment and I feel some good things will come from it. So here we go and good luck to you all. fridge

Hi guys,
I've been interested in trading for a few years now and a little more than a year and a half ago I became interested in day trading.

I was working full time in the beginning. I learned about indicators and though it was the holy grail of trading. I had become pretty bored at work so I started to trade live during my work hours. In the course of a few months I lost a lot of money! But it provided me with something to do during the day that was more interesting and motivating than my actual job.

A year ago I finally quit my job. I couldn't stand it anymore, a close family member became very ill and one of my close friend got cancer, so I came back to my hometown. I took a break to reevaluate my goals in life. It was then that I started to really want to learn how to trade. Still, for the better part of last year and until recently, I was completely focused on indicators and automation. I didn't want to deal with the psychology side of trading; I was afraid of fear.

A few months ago I got a new job at a startup that I felt I couldn't pass up. I don't have much time to trade now but I've decided completely change the way I look at trading. I ditched the indicators, the automation and started to learn to control my emotions and to read price action. I'm only doing sim trading now, but I still feel stress and fear when managing a trade. In light of this, I know that my psychology still needs a lot of work.

Anyway, nice to meet you all! And Big Mike, thanks for this forum and all the time you put into it. It is awesome!

Been trading for a number of years, intraday mostly during the European/US session. Trading futures although I do some cash fx. I do mostly financial futures (bonds & indicies) using price only.
Looking forward to see how others here do things.

Hi I am a quant beginning to trade using Ninja trader. I am learning how to use it. Could anyone there advise me a webinar on how to write and plot and symbol by code, for instance if the high price is 3 times the high price of 3 periods back then draw a line in the current high and set a counter to 1. This is a basic idea but I need to know how to manage the ninjatrader graphics from the code to go further. Any help?

Thanks.

LlapanAtic.

Hi all,

Recently I have been making trades using the TTM indicators of John Carter, and Swami charts impluse indicator. When they all line up I take the trade.

I only trade high volume stocks under $30.

Mostly only hold the trade for a couple of minutes to a few hours. Every once in a while I will hold as a swing trade for up to a week, depending on the strength of the company. I normally make two or three trades a week. So far the indicator has been consistantly profitable.

Anyone else have any positive results from this indicator or any other.

GeorgeF

Since you're new, all posts will be "new" unless you've read them recently. In order to subscribe (I assume you mean be notified when there's a new post), you can click the "Follow Thread" button at the top of the thread and you will be notified by email if any new posts come into that thread.

I mostly trade weekly options....
I currently use TOS and Schwab for my trading.....been trading for 4 years....
I belonged to many groups and chats and found some individuals who only had their best interests....
Looking to find a good home and learn and contribute where and when i can.....

Hello

I would just like to introduce myself, my name is Lyn, I have been experimenting with forex for the past 2 years. Have not achieved much as yet. Have made many trades and have lost just as many breaking even. Have spent the past year learning different trading techniques such as harmonics, fibonacci, heiken ashi, etc. I am now currently attempting to use the Slumdog Technique of making small profits and compounding to reach a short term goal. Hope to learn a lot from this site.

Hi I have received a reply from nakachalet but unfortunately I cannot send you a private message because I have only posted once.

Hi nakachalet
I was searching for different methods of trading and found some of these mentioned on different forums but wanted to know more so I just did a google search until I found out enough information to help me. Some other information came from junk emails of people sending their EA products and I did a search on thier statistics. Which lead me to search even more. I have worked in quality control for many years therefore I have always researched background information as to the source of the information. I believe it would be great to have one trading system for all types of situations in the market, but I don't think that is possible, so I was researching for different programs depending on how the market behaves. If you want more information just let me know and I can tell you what I found.

Nice to meet you
Regards
Lyn

Just let me clarify a few things, I am from Australia which means I can trade on the Asian market which is usually rather slow, I can trade on London opening which is usually when I am cooking dinner - so I am not paying attention 100%, the NEW YORK session her does not open until about 11 pm here in Australia and I am sometimes not up therefore trading is limited. If I am up it is good, and then goes to another good spell around 2am which I am often not up as you can understand, because I have to take my daughter to school at 8am. This is the problem living in the southern hemisphere.

I understand your situation with regards to markets to trade and you being in a diff time zone and all. All I can say is if you do have an opportunity to trade the US Futures market, namely CME products, can find the time to do it a few days a week for maybe 2 hrs at the US 8:30am central open ....I would do it. These markets are the best in the world to trade. As far as systems to trade..... don't worry so much about that part....far far far more important is working on yourself. Learning to think only in probabilities. Everything that made you great and successful in the work force is going to make you a very very bad trader. Say this over and over to yourself non-stop....write it down over and over.... "The distribution of wins and losses is random for any edge". No matter what system you end up trading every time your edge presents itself you must take the trade like a robot. Assuming, of course, the setup has a positive expectancy. In other words make sure the trade setup across a sample size of at least 20 trades, at least, works! And when you have a losing trade on your hands dump it like a hot rock. No matter how hard you analyze your charts you are never never never going to be able to know what traders somewhere in the world are going to step in at a worst price than you and make you a winner....... OK I'm done I'll shut up now. And yes I am a HUGE Mark Douglas fan because he's right and it works.

Thanks Mike,
I'm glad to have found this location. It looks good at first blush with helpful smart communications going on. A little about my investment background. If you don't count ill advised 401Ks that have been treading water since 2000, I have been investing for about 7 years. Best results have been in rental real estate and physical precious metals and worst result was a driving school that went bust after 3 years. I've been an active stock trader with good results and started with 4X recently with mixed results. The learning process is going good though. Hope to share ideas with like minded people here on this site.
Best Regards,
M

Hello Mike and everyone!

I'm happy to be here and am looking forward to reading your posts. I have been involved in investing and trading for a long time. I've read over 200 books on trading and investing related topics and listened to thousands of hours of podcasts during my gazillion hours of cutting grass and commuting. Most of what I got out of this long journey is I've learned what doesn't work and have focused completely on technical analysis and MONEY MANAGEMENT.

So that's about it, I don't have a Holy Grail and don't want one. I focus on day trading and money management. I am obsessed with position size and spend a lot of time measuring my probability like some kind of options trader hedging his risk. I love to tinker with my drawdown rules and draw up rules based on these results. Nothing too fancy.

I found this site from your discussion of unfiltered tick data feeds, something I couldn't find covered as well anywhere else on the web. Well done.

To Mike & the community

I entered the markets a little over 12 months ago taking advice and following a system from someone who had made a lot of money over the years. I soon realised his methods and systems were a painful approach to the markets and would teach me little. More recently I have watched, learned and question the material available to me and this has led me to being a student of orderflow, market structure & development.

I look forward to using this forum as a place where i can ask questions, learn and develop my understanding of market participation.

I read recently that markets were not designed for retail traders to make money and keep it. You have to love that along with change comes opportunity.

Thanks....Beej

Hello Everyone,

I joined this forum a few months ago and have been reading threads and watching seminars as time permits. I have been trading for several years now and primarily day-trade the financial futures markets.

Mike, I want to thank you for creating this wonderful resource. Trading can often be a lonely pursuit. Having a place where like-minded people can come together to share experiences is a very positive thing.

See you in the forums,
Ian Dunross

Hello Big Mike and Everyone,

It has taken me so long to post because I am not very talkative in a crowd. Not shy, just maybe cautious. You know, you might say the wrong thing or something really, really stupid and there you are, you are the one in the spotlight and everybody is looking.

But I think this forum just might be the place for me.

So far every topic and every post I have read seems to be helpful if not informative. I think I can not only learn something but maybe put my two cents worth in.

I have been trading Forex for a few years but have not been very profitable. I even blew out my account.

So I decided to clear my charts of everything and start from scratch. I am trying to learn Price Action and anything that is K. I. S. S.

I am making small strides toward my goals and will post anything I feel might be helpful to others.

Thank You Big Mike for this venue to help others and better ones self.

Ellis

Hello
New trader here, trying to learn as much as I can. Very hard to find where the edges come from in trading. Seems like its just a big gamble with people looking at pictures and hoping that its right. I am very skeptical of pretty much any advice I see, so we'll see if I can find something to gain a foothold on all this.
Thanks

Hello I am Pietro born and still living in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
After school I started to work, at the age of 21 (after 3 month probation, lol) as a fully authorized
employee for a stockbroker on the marketfloor of the stockmarket in Amsterdam.
Now at the age of 62, I look back on a career in finance, worked for several banks in my country.
Next to my job I do my trading for over 40 years now and still am active at the futuremarket on TWS,
Interactive Brokers platform and Ninja Trader charting programm.
Almost every day I log in at Paltalk to keep in touch with other traders.
It was on Paltalk where I heard of Big Mike's Trading Forum and I hope to visit the forum soon to see
if I can contribute to this community.

Cheers Pietro

Hi All,

Having started in a new (4 member) family run fund only recently, I found the information on this forum extremely helpful when faced with a number of challenges that where "taken care of" in previous employment.

Been pretty interesting having to do all the database, IT, software, trading platform, data vendor investigations amongst the short-list of tasks. Having frustratingly learned a tremendous amount I look forward to finally settling in and trading!

Fairly new to the trading world but having spent 10 years looking for the right vocation, I am glad to report my CV is no longer a consideration and trading is the only "work" aka dedicated hobby I will pursue for the remainder working life.

Experience: 18 months, Beginner to Intermediate
Markets: CTA - anything there is a buyer or seller for!
Favoured Markets: Agri and Soft Futures and Options

Question: I developed a fairly straightforward Excel based Interface that allowed me to monitor my various symbols in real time using eSignal and prvide alerts etc. However having moved to IQFeed I am wondering if anyone has some advice on the XLQ versus QuoteIN. I have looked at the websites and local comments, but given they are always biased I though this would be a good way to begin my first forum post.

I would have a view of eventually programming more advanced VB based trading operations as I am currently an intermediate Excel user writing only basic macros.

Any advice on these two (or others) would be most welcome.

Thanks

Hello Mike & members,

I started Day Trading stocks in 04. Through the years I was able to remain solvent, just barely. Now that I'm retired, more time can be devoted to learning. Yes, I have to fight my Demons, and add another (do not do this) to my list. We all travel down the road to profitability, it seems like I'm taking the long way to get there. The one thought I stick with is; I've gone this far while others have fallen, with more study and proper execution I'll make it.

Good Trading to all,
Torkrus

Hello Big Mike and all. I have been learning to trade Forex for several years and only recently getting close to making an income at it. Been learning to use Price Action much more. I also use RSI, MACD and an older version of BB Squeeze called Bollinger Squeeze v8. I have it for MT4, but also would like to put BBSQ (Stochastic) on my Ninja Trader charts. Does anyone have one like this? Also I don't seem to be able to download yet. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

I have joined your community to basically access your tutorial vidz on MultiCharts, as I am about to attend a Forex trading course, so will need some understanding of how this software works..

Thus hopefully leading me on a more financially happy path and away from the so called Rat-Race, and the chasing of the 'below average weekly wage' syndrome..!

HAPPY TRADING GUY 'N' GIRLS...!!!

there are a bushel of traders who make even more than that, know that.

but what i like to ask you is--do you know anything about any trader who makes that much or more?

more specifically, what do these profitable traders do; before, during and after trading?

if you know some of the answers to the above questions, then perhaps you too would be able to emulate them, assimilate what and how they actually trade, perhap at the end become just like them or perhaps even a much better trader yourself?

more specifically, there are tons of free stuff on board to help anyone desiring to become a good trader. but the most important element is you.

how you wish to remold yourself to possess those profitable characteristics belonging exclusively to profitable and consistent traders, just how bad do you personally wish that for yourself and your family?

best of luck. and do not give up too easily. the road is not easy but it is far from impossible, K? a trading friend.

Hi Mike
Thanks for the Site, I have been trading for a few years and like most other traders blew up my account, and I have spent way too much on education!!! But I guess it's part of the learning curve. Happy Trading Everyone
Ken

Education is never wasted if you learn. Taking courses and not learning is a waste. The challenge then becomes to become truly aware of what you learn and/or why you aren't learning. (I do agree, however, that you can pay too much for any given course.)

We are often told to keep a trading journal. I think it is an interesting idea to keep a learning journal and formally keep track of your learnings and no-learnings. It is probably safe to say that surgeons in school keep all sorts of notes about what they do.

(Note: I have been adding my learnings into my Trading Plan whenever I learn something but I have not been disciplined enough to: 1) always do it; 2) review my learnings at least once a week.

I am amazed at how many times I see this question (ie. does anyone make any money. I keep losing.). The answer is both simple and not. Sure - for every time you lose, somebody is winning. The problem is that for every 9 losers there may be only 1 winner. That one 'smart' guy is taking from every 9 'not-smart' guys.

The challenge is to become the 'smart' guy. It's going to take long, hard, disciplined work.

How will you know that you have put the last pieces of the puzzle together? This is not intended as a trivial question. If you can't answer it, you need to understand what that means to you.

shadow trading is another form of The Holy Grail. Trading companies are good for the education however you will find that all the information they sell you is available for free.
With that said you cannot put a price on education. So don't feel duped if some trading company took you for 10k.

I Joined futures.io (formerly BMT) because of the repeated threads I saw online.. Every time I performed a search for something related to trading... there was Big Mike.

Hi there, introducing myself here.

Just starting to get really serious about trading after about a year of very steep learning curves and cramming everything I can find to do with trading.

I'm starting to make more winning \ breakeven trades than losing ones and the losers usually go into profit before turning around and making a loss....usually.

So, I've leaned a bit about trading, now I'm trying to learn a bit about *how* to trade (which it turns out, is the difficult part). If that makes any sense...

I'm also trading very small position sizes by spreadbetting instead of demo trading while I learn this craft with the intention of scaling up when I become consistently profitable, but the principals are the same.

I've skimmed about on the forums, it's good to see positive, constructive replies and attitudes rather than the negativity you see in other popular forums.

I hope I can make a good contribution..

Regards

Hello BMF,

I have been a long term style investor in equities for the past 8 years. My experience so far consists of buying and selling stocks based on fundamentals, and picking entry and exit points based on technical analysis. I'm interested in learning to trade futures, so I hope starting a journal will provide some accountability, and help me learn from my mistakes. I will be starting out with a practice account for the first couple of months to see if I have any hope of becoming a profitable trader. I will post the results of my practice trades in my trade journal.

I plan on posting my reasoning behind executing trades, and hope that will help me understand better, why I do the things I do. I also hope that the users on this forum can point out what might be lacking in my analysis, or confirm my reasoning behind executing trades. I realize that results are not always a reliable indicator of good decision making, so my primary goal is to make sure that my logic is sound.

A little background on myself. I'm 27 years old, and a EMT by profession. Over the last 10 years, i've amassed a modest fortune of about 20k through savings, and achieving modest ROI. I'm looking to put half of that to work trading futures. I know Mike recommends 15k minimum trading the emini, but if i blow up 10k, I'm done, at least for a few years.

Hello to All,

Not only am I a total newbie trader, but this is the first time I've ever posted on a forum as well. So I still have a lot to learn. I discovered futures.io (formerly BMT) about a month ago as I was trying to winnow out the chaff from the wheat in the online world of trading. I finally have enough basic trading education under my belt to ask a reasonable question, so I'll be pestering the lot of you for advice once I've learned to navigate the forum.

I retired not too long ago from the IT industry, and am looking to make Forex and Futures Trading a new avocation. I've managed to acquire 25K to get me started, but want to make sure my ducks are in a row and quacking in synch before taking the plunge. So more education and sought-after advice is in store while I'm learning and evaluating various platforms/brokers. Any advice you have in this area would be welcome.

Hopefully, I'll be able to grow my investment in this enterprise and set up college trusts for my four grandkids. That's my long term goal. I chose trading because I love the challenge of matching wits with the market (the psychology of it all). And I'm a tech-head, so TA and charts get me all excited.

Hope to meet many of you here in the future.

hello, i'm barevan and i started trading futures in 1982, with small account and with help from a full service broker i blew it all away, but it took me 6 months as the system was churning the account. So from then on i started to learn the hard way and went into options and stocks and anything i could trade, 'Forex' etc, that only took about 3 months to blow that account, so i have realitively a few years trading just about everything there was.

I am now trading an IRA and a personal account of stocks and ETFs. I use etf's to short the market on an obvious counter trend trade coming up to save the account.

thanks for letting me join

I'm glad to be here Mike and fellow traders. I've been lurking for a while now on this forum and I can't deny that I've benefited from the contents here. Now its time to give back!

I've worked for a Swiss bank in the product control function for about 3 years and I must say that I'm lucky enough to get exposed to the financial institution's businesses in one way or another. However, trading the market is very different from when you are watching it on the side lines reporting it. My almost-busted account got me thinking about my strategies and how I should refine them to suit the market activity these two tumultuous years (and don't get me wrong, it's still an ongoing process)

I've started trading forex 2 years back and explored automated trading strategies on FXCM's Order2Go platform (in C++) (more of a feasibility assessment project) and MetaTrader (more of an experimentation), before finally settling down for a more discretionary trading strategy relying on custom indicators in an attempt to read the market better. Markets change in an instant I'm still enroute to discovering what works for me. Looking forward to learn from all the senors and experts here on the subject of trading and coding. Nice to meet you guys!

Cheers!

Winston

Hi.

I'm a beginner Forex trader. My working hours are low and I will be returning to study soon so I thought it might be worth looking into investing again.

My education about trading/investing is mostly to do with Forex, but I also am paper trading stocks with covered calls. I'm just educating myself and getting to grips with it before spending real money.

My goal when I begin trading is to earn $250 a week.

Hello everyone,

I'm a 24 years old engineering and business administration student from Germany. I have been trading the Euro/Dollar for some 6 years now. Started out cluttering my Metatrader Charts with new indicators every day for the first few years until I started using price action only. After I made this change I started to see some success and felt more confident with my trades as had no urge to change my style every few weeks. Now I'm trying to explore new horizons with trading futures for the first time. I am most interested in incorporating volume into my trading which is apart from price the only real first-hand information the market puts out every tick. The only way I was able to look at volume in Spot Forex was through Candlestick Pattern which is a visual representation of orderflow in some way.

Over the years I have seen many trading related forums and I have to say that the level of quality posts is unmatched at futures.io (formerly BMT)! Especially on Forex-only forums the amount of people who aren't really interested in the process of trading is very high. Being able to trade with 100 Dollars attracts a lot of people who are just there for the dream of getting wealthy with some random-martingale auto trader while doing nothing.

My next steps are to get some screentime with NinjaTrader Sim-Account and once I see some progress open a live account. I still have to figure out what kind of costs I have to expect both fixed and variable. There certainly aren't as much fees and commissions with my retail forex broker. From my current understanding after buying a Single Broker License for NT the only costs will be X.Y Dollars per Round Turn depending on monthly turnover and contract.

I also noticed that there are quite a lot of my fellow countryman on futures.io (formerly BMT).

Hello all my name is john and I'm 25 years, I have always wanted to try investing in stocks but just never had the time to really learn. The recent passing of my mother to cancer made me take the first step. My dad wants to learn but is not tech savvy and asked me to look into it. I know may of you are very knowledgeable, and will be looking forward to learning from you all.

Hi thr, I am Prasanna and I love trading. I choose this field because it has a solution for all materialistic problems ...

I have wasted 4 years in my academic career. All my friends finished their graduation and started earning enough money while I was still going to college. I decided at that time, I am gonna find a job that fetches me the money which I would have made in that wasted 4 years...I searched and searched and came across trading. I did masters in finance an joined a trading firm just 4 months ago...since than things are pretty good.

I trade on German Bunds Futures (quarter contract), US treasuries (2 and 10 years contracts). I made 550 euros in FGBL on very third day of my trading job but, next 2 months I lost 800 euros. Every trading day is a good experience to me, I learn something daily.

I am glad that I found mates who can share their thoughts and experiences.

Thanks and good luck.
Prasanna S B

Hi everyone,
I'm Erchis I started with studying trading when I was 18, it was 2008, and lost 18 000 CZK (about 1000 $) on Czech Stocks, but I still have the stocks . My initial capital was 20 000 CZK.

I'm learning how to work with MultiCharts and EasyLanguage and writing my bachelor thesis about Technical Analysis.

So I'm very new in this field and glad that I found this forum

Hi All,
Been here a couple of weeks but haven't really had time to provide any input so far, but here is my situation.

I blew up about 4 months back and it REALLY hurt! must admit that I'm probably still bleeding at the moment and it is still painful to think about it. So it really made me analyse my whole trading ethos and bring everything back to the drawing board.

I have spent a concentrated couple of months doing lots of homework into psychology and money management and i must admit it has considerably altered my viewpoints on many aspects with lots of realization thrown in, i can see clearly the mistakes that i have made and the effect it had on my trading and im ready to change ( definitely not ready to trade yet though lol).

On my quest for information it brought me here to futures.io (formerly BMT) a really fantastic site full of info and i've happily been reading through a few bits, But currently i'm altering my strategy and looking to start swing trading as opposed to intra-day stuff (gets me too flustered!). If anyone has any signposts on good threads on building a decent swing trading system it would be greatly recieved.
Thanks all in advance and thanks mike for your great work here!

Somewhere today on this web site I saw a quote that went something like "smart people learn by their own mistakes and wise people learn by others". I working on improving my wisdom.

Would you share with us the mistakes you made? At the same time it might help me and others, it might also help you to write it down. I'm not asking you to share anything sensitive or personal (such as how much you lost - doesn't matter).

Thanks

Thanks for the kind words, George.

I've really enjoyed your previous contributions, especially in money management and psychology. I look forward to more!

Mike

HI Mike & fellow traders,

I am a full time corporate employee who is looking to leave the corporate world & trade full time. I have been trading with mild success for about 10 yrs. , but nothing to make a living on, not even for a dog. My goal here is to join & participate in conversations regarding U.S stock futures. ES mainly. I Have traded them in prior years but not much success , as i lacked many things including a trading plan & discipline. I am interested in anyones opinion in the Perry Method, as i find it intriquing & seems to have a good win verse loss ratio. Has anyone traded this system consistently ? Thank you Mr. PErry for providing such a great system.

Mike glad to be a part of your community. I have been on demo for about 5 months, NT7. I have not been consistent enough in my results to feel confident going live but I think I am getting closer . I view it like a long internship. You do the hard work but don't get paid. (well at least you don't lose $ either). The last few weeks I have focused on one market, crude and one type of trade style, scalping.

If any members have any suggestions on NT7 indicators that work well with Crude and a scalping trade style I would be grateful for your help.

Many Thanks

Hello everyone,

I'm new here. I am trying to learn trading, but I'm currently full time employed. I found this site through FutureTrader71's webinars on YouTube. I really like the MarketProfile view of the world.

Not much more to say now, but I love the site and webinars. Keep up the good work.

Regards, Robocod.

Thanks Mike; I'm not new to trading ( S&P ) but I AM new to so many losing trades; especially in the past 18 months; what's happening ?? I know almost everything about trading including position placing, position sizing, trade management, loss cutting; control of emotions, risk taking, internet reliability, who's a good IB; who's a reliable clearing firm; what the bots are doing; fundamental observations ( the Fed and ECB ), current economic conditions, and " Zero Hedge" Tyler Durden info. EVERYTHING. And still, I place a trade and I get whacked ( I'm not from Sicily ) . Why is this happening ?? Is it b'cuz of statements like Keynes made that markets can stay crazier than you can stay solvent ?! Or am I a proxy for the retail trader that pros trades AGAINST ?

Greetings everyone --

I'm old/new to trading. I'm originally from Chicago. My dad had a membership at the CBOT and I had nearly every job you can have on a trading floor aside from pit trader. That was in the mid eighties. When I left Chicago I also left the markets, but always watched over my shoulder as electronic trading evolved. Over the years my occupation has been in software as a developer, systems designer and project manager. Incidentally my first programming jobs were around the markets and now I'm coming full circle back to them. I wish I had never left, but back in the day leaving Chicago basically also meant leaving the markets. How things have changed.

As of the time of the writing of this little intro here I am focused on trading strategy development and platform evaluation. I'm learning something new every day and it's a blast.

Cheers and thanks Mike for creating the forum.

-- Rick
