Once I think i have a good setup and try it out live I start losing money. I hate to lose money. hopefully I can find something that will help me. need a good easy set up and easy to follow entries and exits. want to trade (scalp) oil, gold, mini russell, euro.

This is an advice:

Do not scalp if you're new, this is most common mistake which everyone makes.

If you are starting out, try working on the Daily chart first, followed by H4 chart then to H1 chart and finally go to the minutely chart when you're pro. I dont reccomend you to go to Min1 though, because you'll be fighting with the floor traders.

As you are finally able to start profitting from the higher timeframe, then move down to the lower timeframe, From D1 to H4, and repeat your process until you get a desired timeframe while still being able to be profitable.

If you start incurring losses when you are trading on a lower timeframe, STOP, Take a break and when you resume, move back up by another timeframe.

Besides, it doesn't hurt to trade on the higher tf, you have more time for yourself.

Profit wise, I don't see any difference in profits, its better to lose opportunities rather than your capital.

As for the stop loss, yes, it will be higher in pips when you're trading on the higher tf, but the amount loss is still the same. 3% of capital when you're stopped, E.g Stop loss was set to 10 pips in M5, 10 pips > 3% of capital.
But then you moved to H4 charts, Stop loss in H4 is about 80 pips, set your position size in a way that 80 pips is = to 3%

Do this consistently, having a good R/R ratio and a good MM will make you profit CONSISTENTLY.

Trust me.

Guess this is where I say hello?

Opened an account because I despise elite trader, but wanted to fish around for some new info on execution/charting/data feeds.

Moving from a backed account to backing myself, and I don't see the need for CQG/Prophet X/TT when its coming out of my pocket. I don't use the autospreader anyway, which would be the big reason to have TT IMO.

Hi,

Self-introduction of a newcomer...

I have been thinking and reading about quantitative trading for a long time.
Now, I am preparing a possible go-live.
I will trade real money only if I am confident in the value of my systems.
I plan to take the go-no-go decision at the end of the year.
Until then, research-test-bin-research-test-bin-etc.
I am impressed about the quality of the discussions on this forum, and will try to bring my own contribution.

Nicolas

I am brand new to the world of trading blogs. I have been trading for a while and only recently realised that I need to be talking with other traders. I have gone through a few different stages in my development. In the beginning a thought that all you had to do was find a indicator that was right most of the time. I blew up my account a couple of times (in a bad way). I then realised I needed a system to trade. I no longer blew up my account in a transient mannor but couldn't stick out the painrful drawdown periods. I then realised I needed good money managemnt rules and I started making profits overall but they were nothing to write home about. This is because I couldn't stick to my own tested and proven rules when I had actual skin in the game. I then realized that phycology and the need for self control was perhaps the most important aspect of all. This is where I currently am is working on my phycology. I have bought a self study course on trading phycology, I listen to audiobooks on the phycology of wealth and success by authors such as Tonny Robbins, Zig Ziglar, Dr Covey, ect. I have even hired a coach.

My only point in all of this is I really love to trade despite how dubious and tenacious it can be and am really commited to it. I really hope to be able learn anything that I might be missing from any of you as well as share what I have learned. I really look forward to hearing from the rest of you.

Best Regards,
Mark Morgenstern

This is my very first time doing a forum. I was your video and read a lot of the other post. I think I am going to really like learning through this trading forum. Well my username is kelvinc I’m fishing up a BSBA with a minor in finance then I plan to go on to get my masters in finance or something!!! I’ve always like the stock market and the more I learned about that the more I moved to learning about options. It was more like a hobby, and then I heard about the forex, looked on-line for information, and decided to go with FXCM. Mainly because of the free learning but as I got into it I thought the instructors were good.

I asked a few question did the demo and opened a micro. I felt that there was a big difference between working with play money vs. your own money no matter how small it is. Like everyone else, the little money I put in dropped to almost nothing but then I got serious. I got it built back up to more than what it was. Now I'm toying with the idea of developing this into a career.

Looking up some things I came across this site liked what I saw and joined. It seems that there are a lot of thing that are for elite members only (I don't know how to put a sad smiley face cartoon thing on, but pretend it's here). In addition, I see James Stanley is here and I am a big fan of his. ( It's his indicators I can't down load). I see so much other stuff and people giving advice and asking advice. I don't consider myself a beginner but I am not intermediate either but I’m working it.

I'm really looking to get to know more people in the forex market just to trade ideas and see if I'm right at least some of the time!!!

I am new to stocks trading, one year back I got Etrade a/c for my employee stocks and I started trading. My first stock was Apple and I bought some put options of BP, strayer and some calls of CMG.
These trades made a huge profit (1000+%) and subsequently lost all gains and even my some initial investment. So I am currently not trading and looking for eductional material and learning if investment is good for me.

Since I am new to trading I don't have any questions , but hope I will learn and educate myself from reading other members posts.

Thanx

Hello I am new to the forum.I am a retired ex-banker/CPA who started trading about 18 months ago.I live most of the time in france and some time in the UK,
I started with CFD`s , then moved to futures and last november moved to Options.I feel more comfortable trading Options as the philosophy of planning your trades before entering , for continuity and subsequent adjustments really appeals to me and , I think, suits my personality better.I tend to trade Gold and Silver, and am interested eventually in expanding to a few other metals.
I had a very positive experience at the beginning trading Options , but then as I got to understand the risks and techniques required became more conservative , and started having less success. At that stage , I was trading Iron condors and calendars of Indices and some commodities.Although I was losing money , I began to realise that although I was picking good trades , I was not succeeding because of either bad entry point or lacking in confidence in not carrying through my strategy, and bad discipline. This resulted in small losses and very small profits , which could have been gains in more experienced hands. So this has given me the confidence to push on and in the last 2 months have started to have much more success by improving my discipline and learning to stick to my plan..
At the same time, I am taking every opportunity to read technical books and listen to videos and webinars , in order to improve my understanding.I still have an awful long way to go but am starting to get a better understanding of option pricing and how it reacts to volatility and price movement.
I look forward to getting feedback from the forum.

Hello everyone,

My name is Fred Decker. I am a career changer. After 23 years in Investment Real Estate, specifically apartments, I am making the transition to futures trading.

I have been trading on the simulator every day since May 2011. I feel like every trade I make and every market I see is an education.

When I become consistently profitable on the simulator I plan to become a live trader.

Thanks

Hi everyone,
I am Priseric, been trading stocks since April of 2009; entered the market when it was pretty low and I thought this was the right time to jump into it. I had some good return the first 1.5 years - wish I would have bought some different stocks but still did pretty good. Then followed some bad decisions (Chinese RTO anyone?).

I mostly traded based on fundamentals, or at least the limited knowledge I had of them. Back in July/August, I completely liquidated all my positions as I felt like I did not know what I was doing. I probably sold at the worst time.
Main mistakes: not securing profits, not knowing when to exit before entering a position, not being honest with myself... so... have a lot to learn
I recently bought 2 books that I hope will guide me. (Come into my Trading Room, Alex Elder - Trade your way to financial freedom, Van Tharp)

In the past 2.5 years, I have had the impression that fundamentals really don't matter that much. The market does what it wants to do. I am interested in pattern trading and see where this leads me. I am definitely still trying to find my position in this. I also got myself NinjaTrader, as I watched a quick video that BigMike did and got me interested.

Trying to find new tools, trading in new ways and eager to learn.

Great source of information that is futures.io (formerly BMT) and I am sure I can learn from you guys/gals... and hopefully give some of it back

Hi Big Mike!
Hi everyone!

Retired from my profession in 1998 and began trying to make money on my money

I have been actively day trading since 2001.

I have focused on futures (ES) past few years.

I have spent a lot of time and money trying find my trading style and to be a consistent winner.

Looking for a chat room that matches my “style”, google search gave me a futures.io (formerly BMT) thread and here I am……………….

Trading is the loneliest, hardest and most challenging venture I have taken on……….still trying to get past just “breaking even”.

Best of luck to all!

Hello Mike, hello Everyone,

I am a new member on this Forum with a particular purpose of benefiting from the vast and highly valuable knowledge base of this community that is second to none. I have been evaluating a number of similar forums and futures.io (formerly BMT) gave me the highest feel of comfort by far.

I am in the process of deploying a ( home grown ) trading system, initially cultivating S&P 500 E-mini. My testing included Interactive Brokers and MirusFutures / Zen-Fire. The slippages at and the poor response times of IB turned out to be a massive detriment; Zen-Fire seems to work out much better, but the jury is still out on them also.

I have a long enough experience with Microsoft products to know that hardly any of them qualify for high performance, mission critical applications, which makes life rather difficult (probably for most of this audience) when it comes to the trading platforms since most utilize Windows as their operating environment.

I will resist the temptation of seeking advice on this or on any other topic of interest this time, but will do so later on.

Once again, I am happy to be part of this distinguished Forum and hopefully will be able to make useful contribution in exchange for the great opportunity provided to me in terms of learning and professional advancement.

Cheers
Joseph

Greetings everyone.
I have been trying to trade for a few years now. Started with stocks and was introduced to futures, which I like very much. Just when I think I have reached bottom and I am starting on the up swing, SLAP!
I joined more then a few days ago and I am just getting around to this. My bad. I looked around, DL'd a few things. Read/watched them. Then with trading and other things in life demanding my time, there isn't much time left. BUT! I will be back and looking for things to further my trading education.
Thanks Big Mike

I'm a day trader from Chicago with a strong fetish towards back-testing and automated trading.
About 7 years ago I started developing trading strategies using TradeStation, but today I prefer NT7 + IB and possibly IQBroker + IB (If that platform ever exists beta).

I make a living auto-trading stocks, but I sometimes venture into FX.

I love this forum, thank you Big Mike!

I am a Software Engineer by profession. I was ignorant about the financial markets until 3 years back when the markets crashed! That got me interested in researching/studying how the markets worked and what moves the price and I got hooked from day 1! So from last 3 years I have spent a great deal of time studying/trading the market(and still continuing: )) and I am loving every minute of it. In the beginning i traded Forex using full leverage - of course who doesn't want to make $10 per pip using only 2k . Well I ended up blewing account twice Now I only concentrate on trading YM. This is a great forum

Well,

This feels a bit how I imagined an AA meeting would feel.

My name's Beau, and I aspire to be a full-time intraday trader.

I used to trade intraday futures on the ES and TF back in 2007 for a while, however, with the time difference and the crazy hours I was doing with my primary job, I was slowly killing myself - and never got very far. So I threw in the towel, with the thought that I might come back to it later. I dabbled in shares, and options in the mean time, with varying success.

After trying different things, a change in jobs within the company I work for, and a few more years under my belt, I came to the realisation that becoming a full-time trader was what I've always really wanted to do (and enjoy doing). So here I am, starting again and using what I've learnt about myself to form a trading plan that will work for me.

I've started to teach myself the functionality of the NT platform, as well as how to code in C#. I've started by writing some very simple NinjaStrategies, which I've managed to get to work (but they're not profitable).

The NinjaStrategy I'm working on at the moment is a very simple strategy that identifies a reversal of a designated size on a tick chart, and enters into a position if the reversal has divergence with the corresponding DS indicator. It's very basic, and on back testing is not profitable. I have been focusing on the CL instrument. I think that I could improve the strategy by utilising a smoother DS indicator. From there I was thinking that I probably needed to add an additional indicator to improve the probability of success.

Now I'm using Double Stochastics for my strategy, which I believe is a momentum indicator? I don't really know how you would classify the pattern of tick chart reversal as an indicator (would it be classed as a trend, volatility or volume indicator)? The outcome of that question I believe should help me choose a third indicator, to help compliment and verify the signals of the other indicators. Any thoughts or suggestions for a third indicator would be appreciated.

When I learnt futures, it was always the DS and MACD. I was thinking a trend indicator of some description may work the best.

Anywho, I've prattled on too long. Thanks for listening, it's nice to have people out there in the same boat.

Cheers

Personal Introduction Hello Mike, hello Everyone,

Cheers
Joseph

Hi all.
I have been trading live in forex for nearly three months and am going backwards slowly.
Instead of three steps forward and two back I have been two steps forward and three back.
I am hoping to contribute to the forums in whatever way I can and be supported by the forums long enough to become profitable.
There is such a gap between theory and practice when it comes to trading. Confidence seems to be such a big thing. Getting it seems such a big thing.

Hi guys,

My name is Matias / Catkain. I am a Norwegian daytrader with about 10 years experience(only 1 year full-time), trading on the Oslo Stock Exchange from my home in Jakarta, Indonesia. My focus is shifting gradualy into a more long term perspective and I am very interested to learn more about alternative investments. Small projects in search of financing, especially in SE-Asia are of interest to me and my friends.

To learn a little more about me and my Responsible Trading philosophy, you can read my blog that can be found via google. I look forward to reading more on this forum and encourage you to contact me directly if you have a project that slightly resembles what I have described. I am also open to discuss other topics online or in person if there are other traders located in Jakarta or Singapore. Examples of investments I have been looking at are bamboo-fields, Litigation funds, silver bullions and real-estate.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, look forward to learning more about the community here!

Hi all

I live in Australia and have been learning to trade futures - the FTSE at this stage. Mainly using Time and Sales, DOM and simple charts. Mixed success at this stage but plan to keep learning and improving. The thread on price action and reading the tape by Bloom is what bought me to this site.

Looks like a great community of people here

I've been trading on and off for several years - mainly stocks on a swing basis until earlier this year when I switched over to eminis and narrowed my horizon to intraday. My objective is to trade full time.

Good forums are few and far between. futures.io (formerly BMT) came highly recommended from some experienced traders in another forum I belong to. I'm looking forward to sharing experiences, perspectives, insights and ideas as my own expertise develops. I attribute most of my success and the advancement of my education to the generosity of more experienced traders whom I've met online. I hope to perpetuate this trend as my own experience and success develop and I have more to offer others.

Looking forward to some great discussions. Thanks Mike!

Hi everyone,

I have been lurking here for a few weeks and the main thing that initially brought me to this forums was the number of users of Ninjatrader. I was introduced to ninjatrader by another trading education site and absolute love it, especially the chart trader and ATM strategies.

Over the last year I have concentrated primarily on forex and spent the last month researching brokers and feeds that I could use with ninjatrader. Finally settled on PFG and have opened a live account with them this week.

I am based in Perth, Western Australia which is actually quite a good timezone to be able to have a full time job and trade in the evening. US Session opens 8pm my time, so quite conducive for day trading that session.

I have been heavily involved in trading since January 2010, probably spending 20-30 hours extra a week on top of the day job. So coming up to 2 years in the journey, I would still say I don't have a solid trading plan yet, I am a mix of 1001 websites and books :-), its like I need to exhaust all available materials before I decide on my trading plan.

However, I am definitely leaning towards intraday trading, price action and supply/demand are areas that resonate the most with me at the moment. Never really got into using oscillators, etc if its not on the chart itself, with the exception of volume I have not really taken to it. So I primarily look at Pivots (Daily/Weekly) and some SMAs for general position, together with manually picking supply/demand levels.

Anyway, futures.io (formerly BMT) seems like a great trading community. If you look around the web you will find me on a few other forums, where I have started similar threads. I have abandoned them all, mainly through lack of discipline, but also as there never seems to be too much discussion. Maybe because I write too much

I will start a trading journal and try and develop a plan. My biggest weakness is enjoying learning about trading, rather than just concentrating on trading a specific plan. I hope to write a trading journal to make me more accountable to reaching this goal.

Cheers

Hello Members,
I am from Spain. Sorry for my English. I am a beginner in Forex. Today increase my knowledge of the PA-Price Action. Study of Al Brooks's book "Price Action Bar to Bar". It is not easy reading but the content is fantastic and worth the effort to understand in detail and learn to apply it. Best Regards.

Hi!

Like I told you in my first post I am a newbie trader, YM trader mostly, in the mornings, scalping.

I see that Anek, that I knew him at Elite Traders is a member of this forum.

I would like to contact him because he is from Uruguay, like me, and Trading in this latitud is completely unknown.

I learned so much from his AHG thread.

And I was trained by Alex Wasilewsky too.

Can anyone help me to contact him? I don´t know how to do PM here.

Thank you!

Hello,
I have been trading for about 2yrs and 6 months. In that time I have groped around starting with zero knowledge to the present moment where I believe I have a solid foundation of market understanding based on Market Profile, cumulative delta, and how price reacts to buying and selling at key levels.

I have not been an active participant due to my all consuming passion with staring at the markets and I find it distracting now chasing up new ideas when Im happy with the path Im on.

My motivation for this post is just to lend my support to Aragorn in the heated debate that developed about the JPJ Trade room. I also have been in the room for a month. The reason I joined is I need a trade mentor. I need to see how a seasoned pro handles the pressure of a trade real time, how he manages the trade, the context in which he will not take trades or lighten his trade. All this is invaluable to me as I trade alone. No one else I have checked out including L2ST, Fulcrum Trader, while both excellent do not trade live and break it down like JP does.

I resommend any trader who trades alone although they may be competent and have a track record would still benefit from seeing a seasoned pro trade.

In short JP is the best 'real' trader in an internet full of sharks that I have come across.

Hi Everyone!

I was encouraged to tell everyone that I'm new to futures.io (formerly BMT) Forum.
Not sure if I'm even doing this post correctly.
I guess I'll see.

I recently started playing with NinjaTrader with a simulation account.
I interface this account with my Interactive Brokers paper trading account.
I'm currently searching for that "Special" automated trading strategy.
I have one strategy that made money, but that was when the Dow was up 300 points.
I need to find a strategy that makes money under all conditions ... if one exists.
I currently trade ES.

I'm an electrical engineer that works for Chrysler and I have about 13 years of trading experience.

Take care,
Phoenix7344

Greetings Traders,
I stumbled on here today while searching for something else.
I began trading in 1999.
It was not until last winter that I actualy began to have some success.
I have a couple more weeks of work left and then will be back at my screen, my plan is to not go back next summer but ,continue trading.
I really do love this business.
I know what it is like to get ground up like hamburger in a market.
It can really do a number on you emotionaly physicaly and of course can bleed ya dry financialy.
For those of you who are struggling I feel your pain , Im sure I aint tellin ya nothing you already know but I find it is good to have fellowship with other traders.
So hopefully I can be a member here and put something in.

Thanks
Kevv

how about taking some screen shots and show everyone here, so we all can enjoy seeing your winning setups and congrat you for your continuous success.

but do not feel obliged to, ok, if you do not feel comfortable to do so?

just thought, if you can post some screen shots, it would save you lots of verbalizing.

congrats

It's great to find a community of traders at all different levels of development with diverse approaches and methodologies.

I use Market/Volume Profile to analyze volume nodes and also good old standard charting for daytradng primarily ES..

I trade interday swings vs. scalping. I overtrade if I try to scalp so I conscentrate on getting good trade location and also identifying where the other guy is wrong so the market will (hopefully) go for the paper (stops) to facilitate trade - where is the other guy wrong..those are my targets along wth the nodes...

I have done a lot of trading system design and backtesting over the years. I started in 1980 and have many war stories..I have been a casualty also..

For me it is difficult to have a rigid rule based system.. I am a discretionary trader and I identify "areas of interest" and wait for the market to go to them and then decide whether to do business when it gets there...

I initially worked with market profile in 1984ish with Pete Stedilmier and couldn't make it work for me and abandoned it..this was when it was just timebased TPO's..Now that there is volume it has functional value for me...

Years I ago I traded SnP 2-3 day swings..had to back then in the mid 80's a 30pt move in the Dow was a big day..

I still have issues that I have not resolved... Money management..scaling out, adding positions back on rotations, etc.

Also, I am typically late on entries.. I am shy when it comes to standing in front of the train so I can be 1pt late and that really messes up my risk mgmt and ability to scale...seems I can't slice the onion fine enough...

I use a 233 tick chart for my entry..

I hope to meet you here and appreciate the opportunity to share and learn...

May the Trade be With You,

Tom

Hi Big Mike,

Thanks for giving us this forum. I am a trader and business owner. Started trading so I could diversify my income. Didn't realize that meant I would lose so much money before I figured out how to make money. Seems for me the key has been understanding emotion and the fundamental role it plays in trade decisions. That will probably be a theme in many of my posts. Also have been in many rooms and finally now putting it together now that I am in JPJ trading room, or is it JP trading room? The guys name is JP and he is a hoot.

I recommend coaching. Think about it. Any sport, we have coaches. Trading is no different. I found much help with Denise Shull and also with Andrew Menaker. My trading has started to become profitable. I still have blow ups and lose, as is the case this week, 4 days of positive trading and one day of really bad trading, but that is the start of a turn around. Finally. It is due to coaching. I have traded for 1.5 years and have been in a few rooms and taken lots of "expert" seminars. The one thing that is making the biggest difference is the coaching. I recommend before have another losing day, go to Denise or Andrew's site and request a coaching quote. Think about it. If you can spend a few hundred bucks on coaching and as a result have a one profitable day, it would be worth it for that day, but really, what I think you will gain is the ability to understand something that no indicator or "expert" can give you. You have to learn to read yourself.

I am day trader based in Bangalore and also try to mentor and help traders in the Indian stock markets through my contributions on my webite.

Am always in the search for new knowledge and different ways of doing what is routine.

I contribute back to the trading community through my site with my ideas on well known and published approaches and will try to post some of those ideas which may have a larger appeal here.

I found futures.io (formerly BMT) forum while searching for web for NQ trading strategies. I'm planning on switching from overnight equities positions to daytrading futures in order to avoid PDT rules. Looking forward to learning and picking up some ideas about trading NQ.

Hey Mike,

I was looking for info on TT Trader and you forum came up...with valuable instruction. Thanks!

I've intended to trade futures for years, and promised I'd begin this year. I studied. Opened an account. Learned the software. Attended seminars. And when I was on the verge of going live...MF Global blew up.

Once I figure (or should I say MF Global figures) out where the cash in my account went, I plan to transfer it to a new firm and embark on my trading career.

Glad to be here.

Tim

Hi,

I just want to introduce my self. I'm new to trading and looking around trying to figure out how to make money and not lose it. Big Mike Forum was highly recommended. I love the idea of sharing among friends. And as soon as I know something I will share it. Good trading.

Hi futures.io (formerly BMT),

53 days and no post...until today. I haven't started trading yet. Hope to start soon.

Favorite trading book: Pit Bull by Martin Schwartz

Currently reading: Reading Price Charts Bar by Bar by Al Brooks

This is a great website.

Thanks Mike

futures.io (formerly BMT),

I've also blown out many accounts many times and lost a fortune.. I've recently became consistently profitable and am a full time trader (for now).. hoping to continue as a full time trader and not blow out my account again... I'm always looking to learn from others and my method is and always will be in a process of refinement.. Heard good things about this place and look forward to read the posts and learn from other successful traders.

Hello folks. I have tried a lot of different approaches, read about everything out there, explored many different systems using fundamentals and technical analysis, traded stocks, options, penny (although no futures or forex). I am a craps player, and have explored the statistics of gambling. After all of this, I have found that the best performers for me have been the buy and hold winners over long periods of time. My short term trading seems to look a lot more like a random walk.

I am interested in learning from others who have found a way to make short term trading work, and happy to trade my experience.

Cheers!

Hey everyone, my name is Ed Long. I have been a long time chart watcher and now am getting serious about doing more than watching. I was a long time Tradestation user and recently switched to NT for a lot of various reasons. I had written tons of EasyLanguage indicators for anything and everything I wanted to get a visual picture of certain conditions. Problem is, I have no NinjaScript knowledge and really didn't want to go down that road. However I was getting frustrated at not being able to code a simple little indicator so I could see something. This morning I had totally given in and began searching this site for tutorials and instructions to get me started. But I found 23 pages of indicators, some I'm going to try. And I've seen something about "Create your indicator for free." I will have to see what that's all about because I still don't have a couple of pretty simple indiators I would just love to have!

Looking forward to continuing my exploration of this site. Thanks Big Mike!

Ed

Hi everyone,

Like most, well maybe most, I've blown out an account & had to wait for funds to build to try this again.
Haven't traded since 2005 but have been watching from the sidelines. I like & use Ninjatrader platform, &
I mainly concentrate on the mini S&P. I'm not sure how much help I can be to someone, but I do have experience at what not to do. Anyway, thanks Mike for a forum and I'm pleased to be here!!

Hi guys,

I have joined this forum for some time now but have yet posted anything. Think it's about time for me to make an introduction about myself and start contributing rather than just reading everyone's post everyday. I have been trading FX for the past 3 years and I trade options as well. Have always had interests in program trading and am now looking into Ninjatrader to achieve that. I find that we have a good community here to get everyone on their feet and hopefully I can help make this forum a better place.

Thanks to Mike and the rest of you for keeping this forum alive and kicking!

Hi Mike and everyone,

First of all, I thank Mike for creating this forum to share his experience and also encouraging and allowing traders to share and learn from each other. I am glad to be part of this very special group of traders. I was fortunate to meet with a veteran trader and he introduce me to financial markets. I learned a lot from him. I use trend lines and support/resistant areas for my trading decisions. I believe in the power of synergy, group work and sharing. I look forward to get to know other traders, learn from their experience and help anyone I can.

Trade well

My advice ( and almost anyone i have come across who is successful in trading advice) is to stay away from indicators except maybe one or two of your choice. Once you have confidence in identifying support and resistance , get rid of indicators all together.

Hi

After reading Big Mike's welcome mail I figured I better jot something down. Although I've been buying & selling stocks for over 30 years and due to my broker have been a net winner by quite a bit. Yet personally have never really engaged myself independently. I've always followed the markets from a technical viewpoint, however it wasn't until March 2009 when I began my real market education. I had already squandered my profits in my account in the 90's on other crazy things outside the market, & was left with about $40,000 at the beginning of 2008. Anyway my account was down to about $12,500 by March 09 and decided this baby has bottomed & out of all the 100s and 100's of great deals I settled on Citigroup which in hindsight obviously wasn't the best of picks, but I'm still holding it. Anyway this one transaction led me to attempt a career in trading beginning with a &10,000 float. However after about a year of studying & paper trading, & then finally taking the plunge with real dough, trading 1 contract of ES, I was down about $400 fairly quickly and hit the pause button realizing I wasn't nearly prepared enough mentally, nor did i have a concrete enough plan and method, although without explicitly realizing it, trading price action is what I have been attempting to do. Now I need to learn how, and I'm hoping to get some insight from this forum. Eventually, I hope to contribute my sage advice and comments to these threads, but for now i am just a student hoping to graduate to becoming a trader.

Hello Mike.

Firstly may I thank you for creating such a place. It's quite refreshing to see such a thoughtful community.

I am based in the UK, near to Manchester. I have been trading on and off now for about four years and took the well trodden path of blowing a pot or two before realizing there's a lot more to making money from trading than I initially thought.

I trade the Eminis using Ninja trader/IB/Dtn. Over the past few months I have been concentrating on market profile and have Bill Duryea from IOAMT to thank for pointing me in this direction.

Currently, I am just about holding my own, but find that I have not got the confidence to stay in trades and have consequently turned into a habitual scalper. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just that I feel with a greater knowledge and understanding, I may be able to interpret the markets more and hopefully gain the necessary mentality to survive long term.

I intend to start using the services of Market Delta and would like to find out any information on overlaying/adding delta divergence, daily VWAP & heat maps to either the Ninja or MD charts.

If anyone can point me in the general direction, it would be appreciated.

Once again, many thanks.

Hello Im Brandon,
I am as fresh as they come to day trading. I caught an interest in it after doing some stock trading at work for my 401k. Ive been handling my 401k for the past 4 years and I have done fairly well with it in the annual return percentage department. I have been doing a lot of research on trading stocks but not that much on day trading, which brings me to this forum. I am still getting used to some of the lingo on daytrading and the structure of day trading as far as the platforms, and the differences in forex, futures, etc... Ill be using this forum as a major learning tool on my venture on day trading. I hope day trading turns out to be one of those things where you get out what you put in.

Thanks for this useful tool and any info anyone would like to share directly.. thanks in advance

Howdy,

Story simliar to all of yours. Probably 5+ years in options, futures, forex. Not making money but taking the costly experience route.

Recently have found some great forex automation and market winning strategies.

Look forward to seeing if these pan out in the next 2 years.

If you haven't already, recommend any forex users checkout the asirikuy dot com website. Lots of interesting ideas and perspective...and they are sharing code there as well--all based on mt4 platform--but very solid logic and good user base.

Look forward to sharing ideas here.

Thanks,
vlakmire

Hi Mike and members,

My goal is to learn more about coding indicators/strategy's. Hoping to enhance my trading techniques
via good indicators. Using the NT platform but they don't have to much support on the C# language.

Thanks
Bruce
