ThinkScript Plotting Limitation

Hi All --

I have a thinkscript that plots chart bubbles based on certain market conditions, however, I only want the most recent chart bubble plotted - is this possible?

For example, if I were to pull up an hour chart there would be 10 or so chart bubbles because the criteria was meet that many times, however, I would only like to see the most recent chart bubble because the other 9 (in this case) I don't care about anymore.

Thanks in advance

Try adding the "show today only" command into your code?

Thanks for the quick reply, really appreciate it. I tried it and don't think it worked unfortunately.

Its rather a long code but below is the code that is plotting the bubbles

AddChartBubble((barnumber and U1), if isUp then low else high, if showarrows and signal > 0 and signal[1] <= 0 then "Reversal:" + low else "" , if Colorbars == 3 then Color.PLUM else Color.UPTICK, no);

AddChartBubble((barnumber and D1), if isUp then low else high, if showarrows and signal < 0 and signal[1] >= 0 then "Reversal:" + high else "" , if Colorbars == 3 then Color.PLUM else Color.DOWNTICK, yes);

I've also attached a screenshot of the chart - I circled the plot I would like to remain visible and then 'x' out the plots that I would like to be hidden.

Please register on futures.io to view futures trading content such as post attachment(s), image(s), and screenshot(s).

Once again, thanks for all the help.

Do you mind post the whole code in here? The community might be able to slap something together that will limit the bubbles.

Sure, not a problem. I've bolded the code that was mentioned earlier. There are a few other lines of script that are adding chart bubbles but are being hidden in its entirely. See entire code below:

def price = close;
def superfast_length = 9;
def fast_length = 14;
def slow_length = 21;
def displace = 0;

def mov_avg9 = ExpAverage(price[-displace], superfast_length);
def mov_avg14 = ExpAverage(price[-displace], fast_length);
def mov_avg21 = ExpAverage(price[-displace], slow_length);

#moving averages
def Superfast = mov_avg9;
def Fast = mov_avg14;
def Slow = mov_avg21;

def buy = mov_avg9 > mov_avg14 and mov_avg14 > mov_avg21 and low > mov_avg9;
def stopbuy = mov_avg9 <= mov_avg14;
def buynow = !buy[1] and buy;
def buysignal = CompoundValue(1, if buynow and !stopbuy then 1 else if buysignal[1] == 1 and stopbuy then 0 else buysignal[1], 0);

def Buy_Signal = buysignal[1] == 0 and buysignal == 1;

#Alert(condition = buysignal[1] == 1 and buysignal == 0, text = "Momentum_Down", sound = Sound.Bell, "alert type" = Alert.BAR);

def sell = mov_avg9 < mov_avg14 and mov_avg14 < mov_avg21 and high < mov_avg9;
def stopsell = mov_avg9 >= mov_avg14;
def sellnow = !sell[1] and sell;
def sellsignal = CompoundValue(1, if sellnow and !stopsell then 1 else if sellsignal[1] == 1 and stopsell then 0 else sellsignal[1], 0);

Do you mind post the whole code in here? The community might be able to slap something together that will limit the bubbles.

Or if the chart bubbles could be turned into labels and only the most recent label is displaying - that would work, as well

Just a thought on what you are trying to do...

You can add a label but it displays in a fixed location at the top left corner of a chart.

see: https://tlc.thinkorswim.com/center/reference/thinkScript/Functions/Look---Feel/AddLabel.html

However, as far as removing bubbles, my guess is that it isn't possible. I discovered that there used to be a thinkscript command "declare fullrange;" that is no longer available for studies. If you type it in today, it gets immediately deleted by the editor for "code compatibility".

So in the ideal world this would have helped, in your case, because it forced a recalcuation of the entire study on each tick. Which is exactly is what you'd need to undisplay a previously displayed chart bubble. TOS probably removed it (in 2009 btw) because it was hanging too many people's CPUs.

So it looks like the modern TOS can only recalulate the study on the last bar, either on bar close or every tick. So my guess is unfortunately you'll have to manually trigger the recalculation of the study when you want to see the updated bubbles.

Is there a link for the original code or is this one you created SkinnyFry?

Thanks
Kevin

#define based on time (24 hr format)

def isopen=if secondsFromTime(0700)>=0 and secondstillTime(1600)>=0 then 1 else 0;
def showbubble=if isopen then 1 else 0;

#then use:

showbubble==1

#in your code

Hi All,
I understand that this code that combines signals from EMA’S, the Zig-Zag indicator, and Fib Extensions to signal when possible reversals will be happening. This indicator is nearly flawless when looking at past charts. However when it is real time, the signals will unpaint themselves if price moves in the opposite direction, therefore making the indicator as a whole very unreliable. I have tracked this repainting to the Zig-Zag Indicator. I have tried to find a way to reprogram this to stop it from repainint and make it keep all its signals it prints but with no success. (I have a decent amount of skill with coding) I was wondering if any you know of any way to achieve this? A large problem is how outdated the code is as it still uses some (rec) functions.
Thank you and Good luck!
