Last night I downloaded TOS and got all my indicators setup and this morning I went in to start testing it out during market action.
Lo and behold the chart and the DOM/order screen are completely different!
Looks like the chart is realtime, but order execution is about 20 minutes delayed.
How is this even useable for strategy testing?
Is there anyway to fix this? Papertrading on TOS seems completely worthless. I want to practice chart trading.
Any recommendations for a good platform for simulation that crosses over well to real trading?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
if you're truly logged into the paper platform then there should be little to no difference besides the obvious easy fills.
Did you start a support que? They answer damn nearly immediately any question I've ever had.
If you're doing market replay while logged into your live account, you need to make sure you're using the exact contract you're trading e.g. /ESM19
or the dom and chart may be off.
I was in the "Active Trader" tab.
Trading "CL" futures contract.
Literally the price for order entry did not match with the chart by a long shot (like 10 ticks off). At first I didn't realize this and I looked at what the fill price was and so confused.
The chart was giving me live data, I compared it to Rithmic Trader Pro and it matched. But the order entry bid/ask price was not matching... Apparently delayed about 20 minutes as far as I could tell.
One way or another, live or delayed, it would be nice if they matched tick for tick. Frustrating.
Took me 10 years to feel confident on my approach and profiting from trading futures...I thought I had it 5 years ago but I still had a ways to go. It's simple and extremely hard at the same time ha
Maybe that's it? I believe I just searched for CL and assumed everything was on the current contract and the trading buttons would match the chart. I'll get back into it and tinker with it some more. Does it work best to physically type in the full ticker symbols for the specific contract instead of searching for them?
if you're in the paper side of things then it shouldn't matter ubt if you're logged in live and us ondemand then you'll need to use the contract month and year in the ticker e.g . /CLJ19
