I have had Think or Swim as a Paper trade account for awhile and yesterday I went to open up the product (as I always do) by double clicking on the TOS icon, it opens up with trying to install updates, but it never finishes updating, it is as if it is in some kind of loop. I never get to the username/password section. Any thoughts as to how I should proceed. I tried calling TOS yesterday, last night and this morning and their phone message indicated that they were experiencing some difficulties, call back at some other time. Anyone else try reaching them yesterday or even this AM? Thank you!!!

I think you should contact think or swim support. Their live chat can usually resolve issues like this. Not sure if they are online right now though, since markets are closed and it's Sunday in the USA.

I have had this happen to me in the past before where after an update, the memory parameters I put in cause JAVA to have issues. What you can do is go into your thinkorswim folder (c:\program files\thinkorswim\) and look for the "thinkorswim.vmoptions" file. That is the thinkorswim configuration file. Open up Notepad in "run as administrator" mode (right-click notepad and you will see the menu option) and then change XMX and XMS back to 512 if it's not already 512. That is the default setting, then try to launch thinkorswim afterwards. This is what I do when I run into issues with Thinkorswim.

You can also always just uninstall thinkorswim from "add or remove programs" and reinstall it. I've had to do this on numerous occasions. Thinkorswim is NOT the most stable platform and being written in JAVA does not make it the fastest piece of software out there either.
