In our continuing mission to make the thinkorswim platform the best possible balance between functionality and usability, we have made a number of enhancements to the left-hand sidebar of the platform.
The gadget pane is now scrollable, allowing up to 15 customizable gadgets to be added without compromising their size.
Each gadget comes with a smart default size depending on its function, but all can still be adjusted by dragging their edges up or down.
Any gadget can be changed, detached, printed, or pinned from the action menu at the top right—including account info.
New gadgets can be added to the pane by clicking the “+” at the bottom of the pane. As they are added, the pane will automatically scroll downward to accommodate them. To navigate back up, either use the scroll arrows at the bottom or click and drag one of your gadget’s headers.
To rearrange the order of gadgets, go to the wrench button at the bottom of the gadget pane.
Note: To fit all functionality into a sensible location, the minimize-sidebar button has moved from the top left of the pane to the bottom.
Futures Now
In conjunction with our content provider CNBC, the thinkorswim platform is now offering the Futures Now webcast to all of our users on a 24-hour basis. Get the inside scoop on futures trading from the experts, regardless of the time of day.
Futures Now has become its own discrete channel in our Trader TV gadget
The live daily showing will automatically run during its regularly scheduled time slot
During nonlive hours, this channel will replay the most current episode on demand, so you can catch up at any time
Subgroups
Our platform enhancements from last August included a comprehensive update to our Account Statement tab, specifically to the subgroup functionality there. As we have come to expect, we got some really insightful feedback from our users as they started diving into this feature. Based upon those ideas, we have made some updates and additions to this tool.
Each subgroup now has its own individual column layout, so you can display only the fields most relevant to your particular group.
Each subgroup can now show its contents without additional categorization. To view all symbols in the group regardless of type, capitalization, or industry, click the “None” option under “Categorization.” Controls for this setting are on the action menu of the subgroups.
Subgroups with the same name under different accounts can now be aggregated into a single subgroup when “Total All Accounts” is selected.
Reset Groups and Reset Columns now have more logical functions. Resetting columns will change the columns of a given group back to their default settings. Resetting groups will remove all subgroup assignments from your Position Statement, taking it back to the default layout (don’t worry, there is a confirmation button).
Extras
We’ve snuck in a couple small treats alongside the big boys.
We have updated the default chart display on the Pairs Trader interface to better show recent trading activity of the pair without displaying artificially wide high and low price ranges
The ProphetCharts® system has been updated to better display volume and open interest across aggregation periods
The Stock Hacker now has the ability to scan for the outputs of any of our licensed proprietary studies; simply select your preference from the Licensed Studies section of a Study Filter Parameter
