Attached is a test code for reversals; however, I don't think it turned out very well. Also, I'm using my own bar colors.

Thanks, sj. I'll check it out when I get a chance.

snowcloud,

Would you happen to know how to code a study alert to be used in the TOS tab MarketWatch > Alerts > Study Alert? If its possible to reference your indicator in the code and program the alert criteria, then it might be possible to link the alert to a watchlist. Anyway, its just a thought. Just another bell with a whistle (alert).

No, I don't but I do know that the VPA can be set to sound alerts for its symbols. I experimented with this early on by setting Alerts to TRUE in the inputs section but set it back to the default FALSE shortly thereafter. I don't have ToS open now, but if memory serves you can't turn them on or off individually which is a major deficiency. Changing that so that symbols could be set selectively to TRUE or FALSE wouldn't be too difficult to code by making an individual INPUT for each symbol but time contraints prohibit me from digging into this right now.

I took a look at your code but it would be easier for me to see what it does if you posted some screen shots of the reversal code in action.

I think the problem in coding reversals is that they very closely resemble retracements. Once the code is loaded onto TOS, you can see that some of the chart bubbles appear in retracements. Of course, reversals don't occur very often; so coding for them may work better for long term trading. One thing that could happen is that a trader is that if a reversal hasn't already occurred, a trader might think it would be better to hold a stock until the reversal is immanent.

Absolutely - reversals might resemble retracements but they are very different animals.

Attached is an image of what I had in mind for linking the VPA code to the TOS Alarm or even the TOS Scan utilities with a watchlist. Amibroker can do it, but can TOS? Actually, this image looks like it might be a backtest.

Also attached is Karthik's most recent version of his VPA indicator.

I don't know if ToS can do it or not. As before, if the idea appeals to you, go for it.

This is what I'm trying to get in locating a reversal; however, it doesn't work every time.

Please label your chart or provide a verbal description in your post (or both). Otherwise it's very difficult to see what you're trying to illustrate.
